Toyota Motor Corp to Recall 803,000 Vehicles- Los Angeles Times

Thursday, 17 Oct 2013 08:00pm EDT

Los Angeles Times reported that Toyota Motor Corp will recall about 803,000 cars, including the Camry, Avalon and Venza, because of a problem that could inadvertently set off an air bag or shut down the power steering. The cars are from the 2012 and 2013 model years and include the hybrid versions of the Avalon and Camry. Toyota said water from the air-conditioning condenser unit housing could leak onto the air bag control module and cause a short circuit. Also, the power steering assist function could become inoperable if a wire in the air bag control module is damaged. Toyota plans to fix the problem by applying sealant and installing a cover to the condenser unit housing seam.
