Tata Power Company Ltd announced that the Company announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Industry and Trade; Government of Vietnam for developing the Long Phu 2 Power Project in Soc Trang Province of Vietnam. The MoU was signed by Anil Sardana, CEO & Managing Director, Tata Power, in the esteemed presence of Honourable Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister of India, Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Cyrus Mistry, Chairman of the Tata Group. The Company was awarded the Long Phu 2 Power Project by the Government of Vietnam based on the pre-feasibility studies earlier this year. The MoU has been signed to develop a thermal power plant, which will utilize imported coal. In accordance with the MoU, Tata Power will carry out feasibility studies for developing this power project on build, own and transfer basis. The Long Phu 2 Power Project is Tata Powers first coal based project outside India.  Full Article

Business Standard reported that Tata Power Company Ltd is developing wind projects having total generation capacity of over 160 MW in the country. The private power producer already has an installed wind energy generation capacity of 398 MW with projects across Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Tata Power Company Ltd Starts Work On 400 Mw Hydel Project In Georgia-Business Standard

Business Standard reported that Tata Power Company Ltd has commenced construction work for the first phase of its joint venture 400 MW hydro power project in Georgia. The ceremony for construction of the first phase Shuakhevi project, having a generation capacity of 185 MW, was recently performed by Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili. The hydel project would be jointly developed by Tata Power along with Clean Energy Invest AS, Norway (Clean Energy) and IFC InfraVentures (IFC). Agreement with Clean Energy and IFC was signed earlier this year and the projects are being developed for sale of power primarily to Turkey, Tata Power said in a statement.  Full Article

Business Standard reported that Tata Power Company Ltd has signed an agreement with EESL (Energy Efficiency Services Ltd) for energy efficiency and conservation initiatives. Tata Power and EESL have signed an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) to carry out collaborative activities and partnerships in the field of Energy Efficiency and Demand Side Management (DSM), Tata Power said in a statement. The MOU provides a framework and strategy for collaborative activities and partnership for energy efficiency and conservation, the statement added.
