United Technologies Corp's UTC Aerospace Systems Secures Contract For Seating And IFE/CMS System For BBJ3 Completion Project

UTC Aerospace Systems announced that has been awarded a contract for VIP seating, in-flight entertainment (IFE) and cabin management systems (CMS) by Jet Aviation in Basel, Switzerland for a Boeing Business Jet 3 (BBJ) aircraft completion project which is coming straight from the factory. UTC Aerospace Systems is a unit of United Technologies Corp. The aircraft will include UTC Aerospace Systems' Platinum HD full 1080p IFE video system, digital audio system and Ethernet control network. The system configuration includes many touch screens and Apple's iPad devices as remote controls utilizing a custom application developed by UTC Aerospace Systems. Additionally, entertainment will be provided with HD sources such as Blu-ray players and numerous sizes of high definition LCD monitors. The multi-cabin interior will also include 7.1 and 5.1 surround sound and a phased array speaker system.  Full Article

Safran SA announced that United Technology Corp's Pratt & Whitney AeroPower and Safran Microturbo are partnering to provide Pratt & Whitney AeroPower's APS500[D] auxiliary power unit (APU) for Dassault Aviation SA's Falcon 5X business jet. The APS500[D] APU will provide the aircraft with electrical power for main engine starting and cabin air conditioning while on the ground. United Technologies Corp's Pratt & Whitney Wins $2.5 Billion Contract For Weapons Spare Parts-Reuters

Reuters reported that Pratt & Whitney, a unit of United Technologies Corp, has won a contract worth up to $2.5 billion to help provide the U.S. military with spare parts for weapons systems, the Defense Logistics Agency announced on Monday. The contract will run through September 30, 2018 and provide parts for the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps. The contract was a sole-source acquisition, and the money to pay for it will come out of defense working capital funds from fiscal year 2014.  Full Article

United Technologies Corp's Pratt & Whitney Signs Maintenance Agreement With Transaero Airlines

Pratt & Whitney, a United Technologies Corp. company announced that it has signed an exclusive eight-year maintenance services agreement with Transaero Airlines to provide engine overhaul services on the airline's fleet of PW4000-112" engines. The agreement is expected to be worth approximately $55 million over its life. Under the terms of the agreement, Pratt & Whitney will provide engine overhaul services for 11 Transaero PW4000-112" engines, which will help the airline reduce engine overhaul costs and turnaround time thanks to the Pratt & Whitney network's extensive capabilities and value-focused, customer-tailored solutions. Engine overhauls will be performed at Eagle Services Asia, Pratt & Whitney's Singapore-based engine overhaul facility, which is the company's center of excellence for PW4000 engine overhaul.  Full Article

Pentagon In Deal With United Technologies Corp On F-35 Engines-Reuters

Reuters reported that The Pentagon announced it had reached agreement with United Technologies Corp to build 38 engines for a sixth batch of Lockheed Martin Corp F-35 fighter jets, securing discounts of 2.5% to 9.6% on the engines. The Defense Department did not disclose the value of the deal, which was first reported by Reuters on Monday, but sources close to the matter said it would be worth over $1 billion.  Full Article
