Veolia Environnement SA's Veolia Water Awarded Contract to Manage the Water Supply Network for Draveil

Veolia Environnement SA announced that the Senart Val de Seine joint urban authority has selected Veolia Water to manage the water supply network and customer service for its main town of Draveil (28,500 people with 7,025 water service customers). Worth over EUR 20 million cumulated over a period of 10 years, the contract, delegated up to now to another private operator, enables Veolia Water to establish operations in a new area of the Essonne department, which is part of the Ile-de-France region surrounding Paris.  Full Article

Veolia Environnement SA's Dalkia Launches Dalkia Energy Savings Center

Veolia Environnement SA's Dalkia announced that it launched the Dalkia Energy Savings Center (DESC). For the area that it covers, the DESC associates both a digital and a human network to make energy savings. This first center, located in Paris’s La Defense business district, is in charge of the energy management of 1,100 installations managed by Dalkia in the Ile-de-France region including and surrounding Paris. The aim of this DESC is to produce energy savings by reducing the consumption of buildings. From the center, the Company’s specialists can supervise and steer in real time the energy use of the buildings managed (residential and commercial buildings, leisure and sport facilities, hospitals, schools). Following the first DESC in Paris-La Defense, six other centers are being deployed in France: two will be up and running in 2013, the other four in 2014. Eventually, the DESCs will be extended to all sites covered by Dalkia worldwide, especially industrial sites, commercial buildings and hospitals.  Full Article

Veolia Environnement SA Signs Agreement With Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas SA To Own 100% Of Proactiva

Veolia Environnement SA announced the signature of an agreement to acquire the 50% stake held by Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas SA (FCC) in Proactiva Medio Ambiente. The transaction would amount to EUR150 million and would make Proactiva a wholly owned Veolia Environnement subsidiary. Formed in 1999, Proactiva is a 50-50 joint venture between Veolia Environnement and FCC. Proactiva is among the major players in environmental solutions for public authorities and businesses in Latin America. This acquisition, made in line with Veolia`s usual profitability criteria, is expected to be finalized by the end of 2013.  Full Article

Veolia Environnement SA's Veolia Water Signs Three New Deals in Karnataka, India

Veolia Environnement SA announced that Veolia Water has just sealed three new deals in the state of Karnataka, India. The cities of Ilkal and Bijapur, in northern Karnataka, and the Indian Institute of Science have awarded Veolia Water a contract for their water supply service. The city of Ilkal has selected Veolia Water to build the distribution network and manage the water supply service for its 110,000 residents, about 25% of whom live in slums. The five and-a-half-year contract should generate almost EUR 4 million in revenue for Veolia Water. Construction and renovation work will take 18 months and the operation and maintenance phase will last four years. In Bijapur, Veolia Water will supply drinking water to 15% of the city's population, or nearly 67,000 residents. The six-year contract is worth EUR 4.5 million. For the 8,000 students and hundreds of administrative personnel who work and study at the prestigious Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore Veolia Water will manage water supply and wastewater system over a three-year period.  Full Article

Veolia Environnement SA's Veolia Water Selected By Thames Water To Upgrade Infrastructure

Veolia Environnement SA announced that Thames Water, UK's water and wastewater services company, has selected a joint venture made up of Veolia Water, Costain and Atkins to deliver a proportion of program of essential upgrades to water and wastewater networks and treatment facilities across London and the Thames Valley. The amount of work for Veolia Water could be worth as much as GBP450 million (EUR530 million) for the period 2015 to 2020. To implement infrastructure upgrade program, Thames Water has chosen to form alliances with two joint ventures-including that of Veolia Water, Costain and Atkins-which will be in charge of design, construction, program management, technology and innovation for the water pipes, sewers and treatment facilities. The program of work, which amounts to a total value of GBP3 billion (EUR3.5 billion) invested by Thames Water, is the capex management contract in the water sector in Europe. Following an initial planning and mobilization stage from 2013-2015 with the joint venture partners, the upgrade program will begin in 2015 and last five years, with the option of an extension for a further five years. Veolia Environnement SA's Veolia Water to Build Three Units for the Treatment of Raw Water and Wastewater for Pulp and Paper Producer CMPC

Veolia Environnement SA announced that Veolia Water, via its subsidiary Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies, has been awarded a contract for EUR 130 million to build three units for the treatment of raw water and wastewater for the Chilean CMPC Group. The first unit, with a capacity of 840 cubic meters per day, will produce demineralized water using ion exchange and condensate polishing to supply the boilers. The second unit, with a capacity of 108,000 cubic meters per day, will treat raw water before it is injected into the pulp production process. This part of the plant uses Actiflo, Veolia’s clarification system supported by high-speed filters. Finally the wastewater from the pulp plant will be treated in a third unit, developed by Aquaflow, - a company owned by Veolia - with a capacity of 140,000 cubic meters per day. MBBR (moving bed biofilm reactor) technology, developed by Veolia Water subsidiary AnoxKaldnes will be used prior to the activation and drying of the sludge for an optimized and environmentally responsible solution. The three treatment facilities are scheduled for delivery in April 2015.  Full Article

Veolia Environnement SA Announces FY 2012 Dividend Approval

Veolia Environnement SA announced that shareholders at the annual general meeting have approved the option to receive payment of the 2012 dividend of EUR 0.70 either in shares or in cash. Shareholders may opt for the payment of the dividend in shares between May 20, 2013 and June 4, 2013 inclusive, by sending their request to their financial intermediary. The issue price of the new shares resulting from exercise of the option for the payment of the dividend in shares was set at EUR 8.51. For shares listed on the NYSE Euronext Paris regulated market, the ex-dividend date will be May 20, 2013 and the dividend will be made payable in cash or in shares as from June 14, 2013.  Full Article
