Vodafone Group Plc says hackers broke into nearly 2,000 customer accounts this week - RTRS

Vodafone Group Plc:Vodafone UK said on Saturday hackers had accessed the accounts of 1,827 of its customers this week, the second cyber attack on a British telecoms company this month - RTRS.The attackers had potentially gained access to the victims' bank sort codes and the last four numbers of their bank accounts, along with their names and mobile telephone numbers, a Vodafone spokesman said - RTRS."This incident was driven by criminals using email addresses and passwords acquired from an unknown source external to Vodafone," he added in a statement - RTRS.Only a handful of those affected in the Thursday morning attack had seen any attempts to use their data for fraudulent activity on their Vodafone accounts - RTRS."No credit or debit card numbers or details were obtained. However, this information does leave these 1,827 customers open to fraud and might also leave them open to phishing attempts," the spokesman said - RTRS.  Full Article

Vodafone Group Plc to expand partner market agreement with MTS INCLUDING THE launch of its brand in ukraine

Vodafone Group Plc:Vodafone and MTS have agreed to extend their strategic partner market agreement and expand the scope of it in Ukraine, signifying a deeper relationship between the two companies in the country.Under the new, non-equity partnership, the companies will roll out 3G and develop a number of new services in the market using the Vodafone brand in Ukraine.Says Both companies have been working together since the original partner market agreement was signed in 2008.Says Under this agreement, MTS has gained exclusive access to a range of products, services and devices from Vodafone for both consumer and corporate markets.It has also helped MTS leverage Vodafone's expertise in marketing and deployment of new technologies.The new agreement builds on and develops this long-standing partnership.Under this new strategic partnership, Vodafone will introduce a number of its services to the Ukrainian market which have proved extremely popular in Europe, including bundled offers, competitive long-distance international calls and worry-free roaming when abroad.  Full Article
