Norway's Yara Q2 result misses forecast as oversupply cuts margins

July 18 (Reuters) - Fertilizer firm Yara International Asa :Yara q2 revenues nok 23,471 million (Reuters poll nok 24.64 billion) vs 25,866 mln in Q2 2016.Yara q2 ebitda ex special items nok 2,873 million (Reuters poll nok 3.36 billion) vs 3,958 mln in Q2 2016.Yara q2 net result nok 699 million (Reuters poll nok 1.21 billion) vs 3,072 mln in Q2 2016.Yara improvement program and growth pipeline, both of which are on track to deliver minimum nok 17 per share of annual earnings improvements within 2020.Yara's spot energy costs for next two quarters are expected to be approximately nok 225 million higher than a year earlier.Global farm margin outlook and incentives for fertilizer application remains supportive overall, and price trend for cereal, meat and dairy has been positive year to date.In europe, yara is seeing a normal rate of order taking at start of new season, at higher prices than a year ago, and expects roughly stable european nitrogen consumption for 2017/18 season.Yara is expanding capacity in several plants at a significantly lower capital expenditure per capacity tonne compared with benchmark greenfield expansions. Yara says investigations ongoing after fire at Norway plant

April 24 (Reuters) - Yara International Asa :Says fire at ammonia plant at Porsgrunn has been put out, and no personnel have been injured.Investigations into the cause and material damage of the fire are on-going, but the damage is limited to the ammonia plant.The Porsgrunn plant has the capability to produce for full finished fertilizer production based on imported ammonia.The Yara Porsgrunn plant has an annual production capacity of approximately 0.5 million tonnes ammonia, 2.2 million tonnes NPK and 0.8 million tonnes Calcium Nitrate.  Full Article

Yara plans to shut French plant with 85 employees

Yara International Asa says: Yara announces plan to cease operations at Pardies plant in France . Seeking buyers interested in taking over plant . Pardies plant has 85 employees and an annual production capacity of approximately 100,000 tonnes of technical ammonium nitrate . The Pardies operations suffer from limited scale, raw material integration and export competitiveness. The closure in 2010 of a nearby industrial operation deprived the Yara Pardies plant of many synergies that existed between the two plants, forcing Yara to close the ammonia production unit at the site .Yara has subsequently impaired the Pardies assets in both 2015 and 2016.  Full Article
