Biographies

Name Description

Maria Grieco

Ms. Maria Patrizia Grieco is Chairman, Independent Director at Enel - SpA since May 22, 2014. She has started her career in 1977 at the legal and general affairs directorate of Italtel, where she became the chief in 1994. In 1999 she was appointed general manager of Italtel to re-organize and reposition the company, in which she became chief executive officer in 2002. From September 2003 to January 2006 she was Chief Executive Officer of Siemens Informatica, which is the controlling entity in Italy of Siemens Business Services. From February 2006 she became partner of Value Partners and chief executive officer of the Group Value Team (today NTT Data), which provides IT consultancy and services in Italy and abroad, office that she performed until September 2008. In November 2008 she was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Olivetti; in which she became also chairperson in June 2011, maintaining both the offices since March 2013, date in which she became president of Olivetti. She is also currently director of Fiat Industrial (today CNHI, from April 2012), director of Space (from December 2013) and director of Anima Holding (from March 2014). She graduated in Law at Universita degli Studi di Milano.

Francesco Starace

Mr. Francesco Starace serves as Chief Executive Officer, General Manager at Enel - SpA since May 22, 2014. Before joining Enel SpA in 2000, he lived in Switzerland and was Head of all International Sales activities and Construction of CCGT and Turbogas plants of the ABB group, and later of ALSTOM. In Enel SpA, prior to his appointment, he was named Director of the Market Division. Prior to this, he headed the area of Electric Power for Businesses within the Generation and Energy Management Division since it was created. He holds a degree in Nuclear Engineering from the Politecnico di Milano.

Alberto de Paoli

Mr. Alberto de Paoli serves as Chief Financial Officer of ENEL - SPA since November 2014. Mr. De Paoli joined the Enel Group in 2008 as Chief Financial Officer for Enel Green Power, the Group's renewable power generation subsidiary and a leading player in the global renewable energy industry, a position he held until 2012. As EGP CFO he led the start-up and listing of the business on the stock exchange. He then moved on to become Head of Group Strategy, a role he covered until being named the Group's CFO. Between 1993 and 2008 Mr. De Paoli worked in the telecommunications sector, first at Telecom Italia, then Wind Telecomunicazioni and finally Tiscali, where his roles included Head of Planning and Control, Chief Financial Officer, Head of Strategy, Mergers and Acquisitions and Business Development.

Giulio Fazio

Mr. Giulio Fazio serves as Head of Legal and Corporate Affairs at ENEL - SPA since January 1, 2016. Joining Enel's Legal Function in 1996, he has served as Head of Extraordinary Finance Operations and Antitrust since 2004. In 2007, he became Head of the Legal Department for Iberia and Latin America, a position he maintained until the acquisition of Endesa was completed. In October 2008, he became Head of the Legal and Corporate Affairs Function at Enel Green Power. Since 2014, he has served as Head of Legal and Corporate Affairs for Italy. Receiving a degree in jurisprudence in Palermo in 1993, he began practicing law in 1996. In 1998, he received a Ph.D. in business law, with a specialization in corporate mergers. He taught Business Relations at the University of Palermo from 1999 to 2004. He is a pilot, a volunteer rescue worker for the Red Cross, a musician (guitar and bass) and an Ironman long-distance triathlete.

Francesca Di Carlo

Ms. Francesca Di Carlo serves as Head of Human Resources and Organization at Enel - SpA since July 2014. She was Head of Internal Audit Department of Enel SpA from January 2008. She graduated in Economics and entered Enel SpA in September 2006 as Head of Corporate Strategy. Her professional career began in 1987 at the UBS Group (SG Warburg Group), where she worked, between London and Milan, until 1993, specializing in corporate finance operations of Italian companies and international groups. In 1994 she joined the Telecom Italia Group as Head of Investor Relations for Telecom Italia and Tim. In 1998 she became Head of Financial Planning, and the following year of Mergers & Acquisitions. From 2001 to 2006, she was Head of Corporate Development and Mergers & Acquisitions at Telecom Italia Group. As Chairman of Stream, she was responsible for completing the merger with Tele +, becoming a Director of Sky Italy, as a representative of Telecom Italia. As Chairman of Telespazio she took care of its sale to the Finmeccanica Group. In 2000 she won the M. Bellisario award, for Women and Finance.

Salvatore Bernabei

Mr. Salvatore Bernabei serves as Head of Global Procurement of ENEL - SPA since May 2017. Prior to his appointment as Head of Global Procurement, Mr. Bernabei was Head of Renewable Energies Latin America. Before that, he held a number of positions at Enel Green Power, the most recent of which include Country Manager of Chile and the Andean Countries, Head of Operations and Maintenance for Iberia, and covered several roles in Engineering and Construction and Safety and Environment in Iberia, Latin America and Europe. For Enel Produzione he also held the position of Project Director Assistant within the Torre Valdaliga Nord Project. Before joining Enel in 1999 as Logistics Manager for Enel Distribuzione, Mr. Bernabei also worked in the Galgano & Associati companies as a Junior Consultant and in Alcoa CMSA, where he began his career in 1997. He holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from the Universita degli Studi di Roma and an M.B.A. from the Politecnico di Milano. He participated in an INSEAD International Executive Program in Singapore and Paris, and the Leadership for Energy Management Program at the SDA Bocconi School of Management (Milan) and IESE (Barcelona).

Jose Bogas Galvez

Mr. Jose Bogas Galvez serves as Head of Iberia of ENEL - SPA since July 2014. He joined Endesa in 1982, and he has held a number of positions within the Group, beginning as the Planning Department's Head of Market Studies. Two years later he was named Head of Commercial Relations, and between 1988 and 1997 he was Head of Energy Control and Management. He was General Manager and Head of Generation between 1997 and 1998, after which he was Head of Electricity Business until 2004. Then until taking up his current role he was Chief Operating Officer for Spain and Portugal. His previous experience includes being Technical and Economic Advisor to the Directorate General of Energy at Spain's Ministry of Industry, working as a systems analyst at ERIA and as a systems engineer at DIMETRONIC's Engineering Division. He is also currently CEO of Endesa and Chairman of Elcogas S.A., as well as being Director of Endesa Generación Portugal S.A., Enel Green Power España S.L. and Compañía Operadora del Mercado Español de la Electricidad S.A. In the past he has played a part in organisations and associations like UNESA, INSEAD and others. In 2010 he received the Javier Benjumea Engineering Award.

Carlo Bozzoli

Mr. Carlo Bozzoli serves as Head of Global ICT of ENEL - SPA since July 2014. He began his professional career when he joined Enel in 1984, starting at the Turbigo thermal power plant before moving on to the business of Rome headquarters in 1999, where he worked principally in business process reengineering. Between 2000 and 2009 he took up a number of positions in the ICT Division, heading up the introduction of SAP technology at Enel, the smart metering project, IT Planning and the Strategy, Performance & Quality Management Function, before becoming Head of ICT Demand and Delivery for the Infrastructure & Networks and Generation & Energy Management Divisions. Before taking up his current role he was Head of Network Commercial Services for the Infrastructure & Networks Division in Italy, where he was responsible for metering, energy balance, energy traders management, grid connection, billing and credit management, service quality and customer care. He has a degree in Economics.

Antonio Cammisecra

Mr. Antonio Cammisecra serves as Head of North and Central America, Sub-Saharian Africa and Asia; Chief Executive Officer of Enel Green Power of ENEL - SPA since May 2017. He joined the International Department of Enel Group in 2003. He then spent 4 years as Business Development Manager in Latin America, working in several countries of Central America (Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Panama) and South America (Brazil, Chile). In 2009 he was appointed Head of Business Development Italy for Enel Green Power, later in 2012 Head of Operations and Maintenance Italy Hydro, Wind & Solar. In 2013, he became Head of Global Business Development, leading a team of more than 200 people, working in over 20 countries across 5 continents. In May 2017, he was appointed Head of North and Central America, Sub-Saharian Africa and Asia and Chief Executive Officer of Enel Green Power. He graduated cum laude in Mechanical Engineering from the Universita degli Studi di Napoli Federico II in 1996. In 2004 he obtained Executive MBA from Universita Bocconi.

Ernesto Ciorra

Mr. Ernesto Ciorra serves as Head of Innovation and Sustainability at ENEL - SPA since September 2014. He began his career as a partner at consulting firm Busacca & Associati, helping telecommunications businesses in a number of innovative projects. In 2003 Mr. Ciorra founded the consulting firm Ars et Inventio, which he headed up until taking up his current position. He supported the planning of the Chief Innovation Officer Function at leading firms around the world, coming up with innovative ideas that have since become popular worldwide. Mr. Ciorra taught Innovation Management at a number of Italian and Spanish universities and was the scientific coordinator of the Masters in Innovation Management ran by Italian newspaper Sole24Ore's Business School. He was also a member of the advisory board of the Master in Innovation Strategy at Ca' Foscari University of Venice, and the director of the Advanced Innovation Management Programme at the IE Business School in Madrid. He is also the author of three collections of poems and a play that has been performed in a number of Italian theatres.

Luca d'Agnese

Dr. Luca d'Agnese serves as Head of South America at Enel - SpA since January 26, 2015. Previously he was the Enel Group's Head of Region Eastern Europe. In the past he had also spent three years as the Group's Country Manager in Romania. Before joining Enel, he worked at Hewlett Packard and McKinsey & Company, and he was named CEO of Italy's national energy network management company GTRN in 2003. After that, he took up the role of Director of Operations at Terna, which after its merger with GTRN now manages Italy's electricity grid. He graduated from the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa in 1986 with a degree in Physics. In 1990 he obtained a Masters of Business Administration at INSEAD business school.

Roberto Deambrogio

Mr. Roberto Deambrogio serves as Head of Europe and North Africa at Enel - SpA since April 2016. He was Head of Enel Group for Eastern Europe at Enel SpA since January 26, 2015. He comes from Enel Green Power, where since 2010 he has been in charge of activities in Italy and Europe, also with responsibility for South Africa and Morocco. He has been with the Enel Group since 2005. Initially he covered the post of assistant to the CEO for international activities, and from 2006 to 2008 he was responsible for the development of renewable energies as part of the International Division, before moving to Enel Green Power, where from 2009 to 2010 he was responsible for business development. Before joining Enel, he worked at Pirelli and in Bain & Company – from 1998 to 2000 and again from 2002 to 2005 - where he worked on strategic consulting, following numerous multinational operators in the industry and working for various company offices in Europe and Latin America. During 2001 he worked in Merrill Lynch's London office in the investment banking division. He holds a degree in Economic and Social Studies from the Universita Bocconi, as well as an MBA from the Columbia Business School, New York.

Silvia Fiori

Ms. Silvia Fiori serves as Head of Audit Function at ENEL - SPA since July 2014. She joined Enel in 2000 when she was named Head of the Audit Function's Planning and Risk Assessment Unit, before moving on to become Head of Audit at the Corporate, Services and Other Activities Division. In 2008 she was appointed Enel Green Power's Head of Audit. A Chartered Accountant, after completing a Corporate Auditing and Management Control course Mrs. Fiori began her career at Deloitte & Touche SpA before moving on to PricewaterhouseCoopers SpA. She graduated with honors in Economics from Universita degli Studi di Roma La Sapienza in 1994.

Livio Gallo

Mr. Livio Gallo serves as Head of Global Infrastructure and Networks of Enel SpA since July 2014. From 2004 to 2005, he was Executive Vice President of the Business Area Electric Network of Enel Distribuzione. From 2002 to 2004, he was Executive Vice President of Regulated Sales Area of Enel Distribuzione. From 1999 to 2001, he was Executive Vice President of the Sales Area of Enel’s Gencos. Before 1999, he was in Elsag Bailey Process Automation, a company of the Finmeccanica Group, as Area Vice President for Western Europe and Africa. He was also Member of the Group Executive Committee and the Board of Directors of several companies in Europe.

Claudio Machetti

Mr. Claudio Machetti serves as Head of Global Trading of ENEL - SPA since May 2017. He was Head of Global Trading e UpStream Gas at Enel - SpA from March 2016. He was Head of Group Risk Management Department of Enel SpA since June 26, 2010. He obtained a Bachelor degree in Statistics from Universita degli Studi di Roma La Sapienza in 1982. He obtained the Fulbright fellowship in Probability and Statistics in 1982. He started his career in 1983 at Banco di Roma. In 1987 he joined the Central Finance Department and in 1990 he became Head of Financial Analysts. In 1992 he joined Ferrovie dello Stato as Head of Financial Markets and in 1997 he became Head of the Finance Operations Department. He was Chief Executive Officer of Federcredit from 1997 to 2000. He was appointed Chairman of Enel Factor SpA, Enel New Hydro, Enel Reinsurance. He was Chairman of Fopen (Fondo Pensione Personale Enel) and of Fondenel (Fondo Pensione dei dirigenti Enel). He was appointed Director of Terna, Endesa, Enel Distribuzione, Enel Produzione, Enel Energia, Enel Ireland Finance, Enel Trade; Enel Capital, Enel Energy Europe.

Simone Mori

Mr. Simone Mori serves as Head of European Affairs at Enel - SpA since July 2014. He was Director of Regulatory, Environment and Innovation and Director of Carbon Strategy at Enel SpA from 2011. He served as Director of Regulatory and Environmental Management of Enel SpA from May 2007 until 2011. He graduated in Physics and received an Masters of Business Administration degree. He is in charge of regulation in Italy and abroad, as well as antitrust and environmental policies. Previously, he had been engaged in the Enel Holding, and was on the Board of Directors of Viesgo Generacion, Viesgo Distribucion and Viesgo Energia, Enel Group companies that operate in the Spanish market. He is Vice President of Assoelettrica, Chairman of the Assolombarda Energy Merchandise, President of the Energy Sector of the Industrial Union of Rome, Member of the Energy Commission of Confindustria and Member of the Board of Directors of CESI. His activities also include teachinges at the Faculty of Engineering of the Universita degli Stuidi di Roma La Sapienza.

Ryan O'Keeffe

Mr. Ryan O'Keeffe serves as Director of Communications of ENEL - SPA since 2014. In this role he oversees Enel's Brand Strategy, Global Advertising, Internal Communications, Media Relations and Digital Communications at Group level. Mr O'Keeffe joined UBS Investment Bank in its South African office before moving to London where he worked in the M&A and Leveraged Finance teams. In 2006 he joined Finsbury, the leading global strategic communications consultancy, where he advised the CEOs and boards of directors of a number of the world's largest companies on their strategic communications. In 2009 he moved to Finsbury's office in New York where he spent three years, culminating in leading Finsbury's 2011 merger with US-based Robinson, Lerer & Montgomery. Mr O’Keeffe has broad experience in international media engagement, investor relations, as well as internal communications, crisis management and regulatory investigations. He is a Board member of Enel Cuore Onlus, and is also involved with various educational charities in South Africa and the UK. He is a keen sportsman and nature conservationist. He graduated with a degree in Modern Languages from the University of Edinburgh. Following postgraduate studies at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg.

Carlo Tamburi

Mr. Carlo Tamburi serves as Head of Italy at Enel - SpA since July 2014. He was Director of International Division of Enel SpA since 2008. From 2005 to 2006, he was Head of the Company's Services and Procurement Department and was Chief Executive Officer of Dalmazia Trieste. Previously, from 2002 to 2005, he headed Enel SpA's Mergers and Acquisitions Department. Prior to this he served as Director of the Company. He graduated in Statistics from Universita degli Studi di Roma La Sapienza in 1982 and he served for over 20 years in Citibank NA, IRI (Istituto per la Ricostruzione Industriale) and the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance, before joining Enel SpA. He was also Chairman of the company Tirrenia di Navigazione and Member of the Board of Directors of several Italian companies, including Finmeccanica, Alitalia and Wind.

Francesco Venturini

Mr. Francesco Venturini serves as Head of Global E-Solutions of ENEL - SPA since May 2017. He was Head of North and Central America, Sub-Saharian Africa and Asia, Head of Global Renewable Energies and CEO of Enel Green Power at ENEL - SPA from May 2014. At the onset of his career Mr. Venturini served as Financial Controller for Elsag Bailey Process Automation, a Finmeccanica group company, taking part in its listing on the NYSE. He later became Chief Financial Officer for several companies of the Elsag Bailey Process Automation and Hartmann & Braun groups in both the United States and Brazil. He joined the Enel Group in 1997 as Head of Administration and Management Control at Enel S.p.A., contributing to the company listing on the New York and Milan Stock Exchanges. Mr. Venturini later became Head of Internal Audit within Enel's Distribution and Market Division, and subsequently, Head of Sales Administration within the same division. In 2009, he was appointed Head of Finance in Enel Green Power. Afterwards, he worked at Enel Green Power North America, first taking on the role of Head of Business Development and later, in 2011, as Head of the North America Area. Mr. Venturini graduated cum laude in Economics from Universita degli Studi di Roma La Sapienza where he also served as assistant professor of Banking Strategies and Techniques during the academic year 1991-1992. Mr. Venturini is a London Business School alumnus and in 2015 he has been awarded an MBA at the MIT Sloan School of Management.

Enrico Viale

Mr. Enrico Viale serves as Head of Global Thermal Generation at ENEL - SPA since April 2016. After nine years at Ansaldo Energia and eight years at ABB in Italy and Switzerland, Mr. Viale joined Enel in 2003 when he was named Country Manager of Southeastern Europe and CEO of Enel Maritza East 3, where he headed up a number of development projects and operational activities in conventional and renewable energy generation, as well as in distribution, in Bulgaria, Rumania and Greece. Between 2008 and 2014 he was in Russia, first as Chief Operating Officer, managing Enel's interests in OGK-5 and Rusenergosbyt and supporting SeverEnergia's upstream gas operations, before becoming Country Manager and CEO of Enel Russia. Married with two children, Mr. Viale has a degree in Civil Engineering from Politecnico di Torino, which he followed up with post-graduate studies in the United States, earning himself an MBA at the Santa Clara University's School of Business.

Silvia Fappani

Alfredo Antoniozzi

Mr. Alfredo Antoniozzi serves as Independent Director of ENEL - SPA since June 11, 2015. From 1981 to 1990 he was City Councilman at the Municipality of Rome, taking on the office as Counselor for the Educational Politics; later, he held the office of Counselor for General Affairs appointed to the Institutional and International Relations of Rome. From 1990 to 2004 he was Region Councilman at the Lazio Region, where he assumed the office as Counselor for Transport. Furthermore, from 2008 to 2012 he held the office as Counselor for Heritage and Special Projects at the Municipality of Rome. From 2004 to 2014 he was Member of the European Parliament, where he was a member of the Justice Commission, Legal Commission and Constitutional Affairs Commission. During the same period he also took part in the Delegations for European relationships with the United States of America and the Arabic Peninsula and Central America, as well as he took part in the Delegation at Parliamentary Committee on relationships between EU-Mexico. He graduated in Law at the Universita degli Studi di Roma La Sapienza in 1980 and then achieved a specialization in labor law, practicing his activity in a law firm.

Alberto Bianchi

Mr. Alberto Bianchi is Independent Director at Enel SpA since May 22, 2014. After the graduation in law and becoming a lawyer, he started to practice the profession of lawyer in 1986 in administrative, commercial, corporate and bankruptcy fields. In this field, initially he has carried out its activity in the law firm of the Professor Alberto Predieri (from 1983 to 2001); subsequently he founded the law firm Bianchi and Associates. From 2001 to 2007 he was liquidator of EFIM (body of loan for the manufacturing industries); after the suppression of the abovementioned body, he has been appointed (in July 2007) by the Minister of Economy and Finance as commissioner ad acta for the compulsory winding up of the companies managed by Ligresta (companies of the Fintecna Group), office that he practices as of today. He was also member of the liquidator board of Finanziaria Ernesto Breda ( from 1994 to 2001), director of Rai New Media, chairman of Firenze Fiera (from 2002 to 2006) and of Dada (internet company listed in the Stock exchange of Milan from 2011 to 2013). Currently he is chairman of the board of directors of Edizioni di Storia e Letteratura, as well as he is member of the Vigilance Body of Tema pursuant to Legislative Decree no. 231/2001 and director and accounting auditor of several associations and foundations. From 2007 he is also member of the board of arbitrators of Confindustria Firenze and from February 2010 he is member of the Guarantee Board of the Tuscany Region, body having advisory functions for the Regional Board.

Cesare Calari

Prof. Cesare Calari serves as Independent Director of ENEL - SPA since May 5, 2017. After a short period spent working at the Bank of Italy (1980-1981), in 1981 he joined the World Bank Group, where from 1982 to 2001 he held positions of increasing responsibility within the International Finance Corporation, an affiliate of the World Bank Group whose aim is to support the private sector in developing countries. Among the positions held within the International Finance Corporation, it’s worth to mention that of Head of the Sub-Saharan Africa department (from 1997 to 2000) and that of Head of the global financial markets group (from 2000 to 2001). From 2001 to 2006 he was Vice President of the World Bank, responsible for the Bank’s operations and strategies in the financial sector, for its work on international financial architecture and for anti-money laundering; during this period, he was also member of the Financial Stability Forum and Chairman of CGAP (Consultative Group to Assist the Poor), a trust fund for the promotion of microfinance. Since October 2006 he has been partner and managing director of Encourage Capital (formerly Wolfensohn Fund Management), a U.S. company managing private equity investments with high social and environmental impact, and member of the investment committee of Wolfensohn Capital Partners, a private equity fund specialized in emerging markets. Covering such roles, he has gained a wide managerial and strategic experience in the financial services sector, as well as a broad knowledge of corporate and project finance and issues related to corporate governance and regulation of the financial sector worldwide. In 1977 he graduated in Law at the Universita degli Studi di Bologna and in 1979 he earned a Master of Arts at John Hopkins School for Advanced International Studies.

Paola Girdinio

Dr. Paola Girdinio is Independent Director at Enel SpA. since May 22, 2014. At the University of Genova she has been also headmaster of the faculty of electrical engineering (from 2001 to 2007), member of the executive board of the center of the permanent training (from 2006 to 2008), chief of the department of electrical engineering (from 2007 to 2008), headmaster of the faculty of engineering (from 2008 to 2012) and from 2012 she is member of the board of directors. She is also president of the scientific committee for the project smart city made by Comune di Genova (from 2011), member of the regency board of Genova of the Banca d’Italia (from 2011) and member of the scientific committee of Eurispes (from 2013). She graduated in Physics science from Universita degli Studi di Genova, at which she was at the beginning researcher (from 1983 to 1987) and then she became, first, associate professor (from 1987 to 2000) and then full professor (from 2000 as of today).

Alberto Pera

Mr. Alberto Pera is Independent Director at Enel SpA since May 22, 2014. After a period as a researcher at the Faculty of Economics, University of Rome (1974-1978), he started his career as chief of the analysis of the monetary markets at the Banca Nazionale del Lavoro (from 1978 to 1979), he has been also economist at the division of the international markets of capitals of the International Monetary Fund (from 1980 to 1985). Chief of the economics studies of IRI (from 1985 to 1990, in which he also studied the items related to the privatizations of the companies controlled by IRI and he studied the liberalization of the markets), he has been also advisor of the Minister of Industry for the industrial policies of competition (from 1986 to 1990, minding the Italian antitrust law); in this period he has been member of the board of directors of Italcable ( STET Group, from 1986 to 1990) and chairman of Seleco (from 1988 to 1990). From 1987 to 1991 he was a professor of public company economics at the Catholic University in Milan. First secretary of the Guaranteeing Authority of the Competition and the Market (from 1990 to 2000), he has represented also the abovementioned Authority at the meetings of the general managers of the competition of the European Union members. From 2001 he is partner at the Gianni, Origoni, Grippo, Capplli & Partners Law Firm. He graduated from Universita degli Studi di Roma La Sapienza in Economics and in law from Universita degli Studi di Macerata. He earned the Master of Science in Economics at the London School of Economics.

Anna Svelto

Ms. Anna Chiara Svelto is Independent Director at Enel SpA since May 22, 2014. From March 1996 to February 1998 she worked at the legal affairs directorate of Edison, becoming later chief of the legal and corporate affairs directorate of Shell Italia from March 1998 to September 2000. Then she joined the Pirelli Group, in which she is currently the chief of the legal and compliance affairs directorate in the controlling entity, secretary of the board of directors and secretary of the advisory committee instituted inside the board of directors, member of the management committee and of management committee for the risk, as well as of steering committee for the sustainability. From April 2013 to February 2014 she has been director and member of the control and risk and corporate governance committee of Prelios. She graduated in Law from Universita degli Studi di Milano. She became lawyer in September 1995.

Angelo Taraborrelli

Mr. Angelo Taraborrelli serves as Independent Director of Enel SpA since April 29, 2011. He also serves as Member of the Audit Committee and as Member of the Related Parties Transactions Committee of the Company. After graduating in Law with full marks from the Universita degli Studi di Siena in 1971, he earned a Masters degree in the Economics of Hydrocarbons from the Scuola Superiore Enrico Mattei. He began his career in 1973 at Eni, where he subsequently held a number of managerial positions before becoming in 1992 the head of planning and control at Saipem. Then, at the parent company, he became first (in 1996) the deputy head of strategic control and upstream development and gas and later (in 1998) the deputy head of planning and industrial control. Subsequently he held the office of Deputy Chairman of Snamprogetti (from 2001 to 2002) and Chief Executive Officer for the commercial activities of AgipPetroli (2002). Following the absorption of the latter company by the parent company, at the beginning of 2003 he was appointed Deputy Chief Operating Officer for marketing in the Refining & Marketing Division. From 2004 to 2007, he was Chief Operating Officer of Eni, with responsibility for the Refining and Marketing Division, while from 2007 to 2009 he was the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Syndial. In 2009 he left Eni to work as a consultant in the oil industry and was appointed distinguished associate of Energy Market Consultants, a London-based oil consultancy, in 2010.
