Japan lender Resona says to pay back debt to govt in 5 years

TOKYO, May 10 - Resona Holdings Inc, Japan's fourth-largest lender by assets, said on Friday that it plans to pay off 870 billion yen ($8.76 billion) of debt owed to the Japanese government in five years, ending more than a decade-old bailout.

Resona jumps, sources say it to repay $8.8 bln public funds in 5 years

TOKYO, May 9 - Shares in Japanese lender Resona Holdings Inc jumped as much as 4.9 percent to 574 yen, their highest for more than two years, on Thursday after sources said it would repay the 870 billion yen ($8.8 billion) in public funds it still owes the government in five years.
