Biographies

Name Description

Egbert Imomoh

Mr. Egbert Imomoh is Non-Executive Independent Chairman of the Board of Afren PLC. Mr. Imomoh, a founder of Afren, was previously Managing Director and Executive Chairman of Afren Energy Resources Limited. He led the growth of Afren’s Nigerian asset base, established a number of indigenous partnerships and achieved the First Oil milestone at the Okoro Setu project. The Society of Petroleum Engineers has named Mr. Imomoh as its 2013 President, and he has served on its board as Regional Director for Africa. Mr. Imomoh brings a wealth of knowledge of the oil and gas industry in Nigeria and Africa, acquired through many years of industry experience including serving as Deputy Managing Director of Shell Petroleum Development Company (Nigeria) prior to establishing Afren’s Nigerian subsidiary.

Osman Shahenshah

Dr. Osman Shahenshah, Ph.D., is Chief Executive, Executive Director of Afren Plc. Dr. Shahenshah is a founder of Afren and has over 20 years’ experience in oil and gas finance. His international career began with Credit Suisse First Boston and has included senior positions in the oil and gas finance groups of the International Finance Corporation (the private sector arm of the World Bank), and the investment banking divisions of Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein and Mediocredito Centrale. Dr Shahenshah has been actively involved in the African oil and gas sector for more than 15 years, working with companies including Shell, Chevron, Total, Eni S.p.A and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation. He holds a PhD from the University of Pennsylvania, a Master’s Degree from Columbia University and a Bachelor’s Degree from Brown University.

Darra Comyn

Mr. Darra Martin Comyn is Group Finance Director, Executive Director of Afren Plc. Mr. Comyn was previously the Group Finance Director for ITE Group plc and Expomedia Group Plc (both international groups focused on emerging markets); and in the oil industry with Chevron Oil UK and Dragon Oil where he was Group Financial Controller and Company Secretary. Mr. Comyn is a Chartered Accountant with a degree in Economics from Trinity College, University of Dublin.

Shahid Ullah

Mr. Shahid Ullah is Chief Operating Officer, Executive Director of Afren Plc. Mr. Ullah has held senior management positions at Western Atlas and Baker Hughes, where he was responsible for managing petroleum interests and assets. In particular, he brings technical and commercial knowledge of the African petroleum industry to Afren. Mr. Ullah holds a degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas and received executive development training at Oxford University and the London Business School. He is a member of the Engineering Advisory Board at the University of Texas.

Shirin Johri

Ms. Shirin Johri is Company Secretary of Afren Plc. Ms. Johri has experience advising on acquisitions and disposals, joint ventures, infrastructure projects and private equity investment. Since joining Afren in 2006, she has led the Company in all corporate acquisitions. Prior to Afren, Ms. Johri worked in Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP’s African practice. She holds an LLM from the Cornell Law School, New York, an LLB (Hons) from Delhi University, India and a Bachelor’s degree from Delhi University. She has also been called to the New York Bar.

Sheree Bryant

Mrs. Sheree Bryant is Non-Executive Director of Afren PLC. Mrs. Bryant is a senior executive with a track record of developing, implementing and coordinating a wide range of innovative corporate social responsibility initiatives. In 2008 she founded Social Policy Group (SPG), a non-profit organisation which evaluates and develops recommendations on key issues in global health and social policy, and continues to serve as a Director. Prior to SPG Mrs Bryant worked with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and The Department of Government at Harvard University. Ms Bryant is a Postgraduate Fellow of both the King's Institute for the Study of Public Policy at King's College, London and Harvard University. She has a BA from the University of Texas at Austin.

Iain McLaren

Mr. Iain A. McLaren is a Non-Executive Director of the Company. A chartered accountant, Mr McLaren has over forty years' experience working in international financial markets, accounting and auditing as well as the oil and gas industry. He currently serves as a Non-executive Director of Cairn Energy Plc, Chairman of Investors Capital Trust Plc, Non-executive Director of Baillie Gifford Shin Nippon Plc, Edinburgh Dragon Plc, Ecofin Water & Power Opportunities Plc and Mitra Energy Limited. Mr. McLaren is a past President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland and has a BA in Accountancy & Finance from Heriot-Watt University. He also serves as Governor of St Columba's Hospice and Deputy Chair of Court of Heriot-Watt University.

Peter Bingham

Mr. Peter Bingham is Non-Executive Independent Director of Afren Plc. With over 40 years’ experience in international financial markets, Mr. Bingham began his career at Barclays Bank group. He subsequently held a succession of Directorships, first in London at branch level, then in Barclays merchant banking division and BZW – now known as Barclays Capital – where he set up the credit risk management team, all before becoming Head of Banking at BZW and serving as a member of the central Barclays Group Credit Committee.

Toby Hayward

Mr. Toby J. L. Hayward is Senior Non-Executive Independent Director of Afren plc. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant, Mr. Hayward has held a number of senior Equity Capital market positions in London. As Head of Oil and Gas Equity Capital Markets at Canaccord Adams he led a range of Initial Public Offerings (IPOs), including Afren’s IPO, before moving on to his post as Managing Director and Head of Corporate Broking at Jefferies International Limited, where he was responsible for all international equity and equity linked transactions together with corporate broking and Nomad responsibilities.

Patrick Obath

Mr. Patrick E. O. Obath is Non-Executive Independent Director of Afren PLC since February 2, 2012. He is a senior energy industry practitioner, having held a number of senior management positions in a career spanning over 36 years, including 20 years with Shell International, Shell Kenya, Shell Tanzania and Shell Oil Products Africa ("Shell"). Mr. Obath's tenure at Shell included Engineering Management across the Shell Group refineries, implementing and the Corporate Health, Safety and Environmental Management for Shell Eastern Africa covering 14 African countries, managing the network for product receipt storage and distribution in the Shell Eastern Africa Area (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Mauritius, Madagascar, Eritrea, Sudan and Djibouti) and Chief Executive of Kenya Shell and Shell Tanzania. Mr. Obath currently also serves as Chairman of PZ Cussons EA Limited and is a non-executive Director at Standard Chartered Bank Kenya Limited and Kenya Power and Lighting Company Limited. Mr. Obath has a B.Sc. (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nottingham. He is Chairman of the Kenya Private Sector Alliance and has received a number of East African Honorary recognitions, including the Order of the Grand Warrior (OGW) by H.E. the President of the Republic of Kenya, the National Peace Award, Kenya, and the Order of the Moran of the Burning Spear (MBS) by H.E. the President of the Republic of Kenya.

Ennio Sganzerla

Mr. Ennio Sganzerla is Non-Executive Independent Director of Afren Plc. Ennio Sganzerla, a senior oil industry practitioner, has been an adviser to the Afren Board since November 2006. He was previously Senior Vice President (E&P) at ENI, having joined the group in 1971. From 1997, he was responsible for ENI’s business unit encompassing the North Sea, America, Australasia and Russia, with production in excess of 500,000 boepd. Over the course of his wide-ranging career at ENI, he was instrumental in establishing and building ENI’s presence in Congo, and played an active role in increasing ENI’s position in Nigeria and Gabon as Regional VP for Africa. Mr. Sganzerla was also active in the group’s M&A activities, including the acquisition of Lasmo plc and British Borneo.

John St. John

Mr. John St. John is Non-Executive Independent Director of Afren Plc since November 2006. He was formerly Global Head of Equity Capital Markets at Dresdner Kleinwort, Commerzbank and Lehman Brothers and European Head of Equity Capital Markets at Citigroup, formerly Salomon Brothers. He was also until recently the Chairman of Equity Capital Markets at Nomura International plc. John is a founding Partner of STJ Advisers. He has acted as an adviser on over $100 billion of equity and equity-linked issuance in all markets worldwide.
