Name Description

Brian MacEachen

Mr. Brian D. MacEachen is Independent Chairman of the Board of Avalon Rare Metals Inc., since November 16, 1998. He has been Executive Consultant since July 2012; prior thereto, Executive Vice President of Brigus Gold Corp. (formerly Linear Gold Corp., a mining exploration company) since October 2009 and President and CEO of Linear Metals Corporation (a mining exploration company) from January 2008 to April 2012; prior thereto, CFO and Vice-President of Finance of Brigus Gold Corp. and Linear Metals Corporation.

Donald Bubar

Mr. Donald S. Bubar is President, Chief Executive Officer, Director of Avalon Rare Metals Inc. He is Director since February 17, 1995. He is a Consulting Geologist with over 30 years experience in mineral exploration in Canada. Former Vice-President Exploration for Aur Resources Inc. Involved in several important gold and base metal discoveries including the world-class Louvicourt Cu-Zn-Ag-Au VMS deposit, in Val d'Or, Quebec. President of the Company since 1995.

Mr. R. James Andersen is Chief Financial Officer, Vice President - Finance of Avalon Rare Metals Inc. He is CFO and Vice-President - Finance of the Company since June 2001; President of Andersen & Company, PC (a chartered accounting firm) from January 2007 to October 2011.

David Marsh

Mr. David Marsh is Interim Chief Operating Officer, Senior Vice President - Metallurgy of Avalon Rare Metals Inc. He has been appointed as Interim Chief Operating Officer of the Company with effective May 31, 2013. He has almost 30 years of experience in the metallurgical and mineral processing industries. He has worked in Africa, Australia and Canada. Much of his experience has been in the engineering and technical side of the business and this is complemented by several years in operations. A native of the United Kingdom, Mr. Marsh received his B.Sc (Hon.) in Mineral Processing from the University of Leeds, England in 1980. Dave's previous positions include senior management roles in process design and implementation, particularly with heavy minerals, gold and platinum group metals as well as development of state-of-the-art uranium recovery plants. He has also managed engineering design, project teams, bankable feasibility studies and project implementation with EPCM (Engineering, Procurement, Construction & Management) companies.

Richard Pratt

Mr. Richard Pratt is Vice President, General Counsel, Corporate Secretary of Avalon Rare Metals Inc., since August 1, 2011. Mr. Pratt has over 20 years of experience in private legal practice, where he represented corporate and financial institution clients in a wide array of sectors, including mining, manufacturing, broadcasting and technology, focusing on business critical public and private debt financings and reorganizations. He is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada and holds a BComm (honours) from the University of Manitoba and a bachelor of law from Dalhousie University, Halifax, N.S. Since 2008, Mr. Pratt has served as general counsel for MagIndustries Corp., a TSX-listed company with industrial minerals assets in the Republic of Congo and which is the subject of a takeover bid by Evergreen Industries Group from Shanghai, China. From 1996 to 2008, Mr. Pratt worked for the law firm Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP in Toronto, rising to the position of partner in the financial services group.

Pierre Neatby

Mr. Pierre Neatby is Vice President - Sales and Marketing of Avalon Rare Metals Inc., since July 1, 2010. Mr. Neatby has been serving Avalon over the past several months as an independent consultant to assist with preparing the market studies for the prefeasibility study on the Nechalacho REE deposit. Mr. Neatby holds an Honours B.A. in Economics from Queen's University and spent close to 19 years with Noranda/Falconbridge prior to joining Avalon. He has held a number of leadership positions in marketing and sales with Noranda/Falconbridge culminating in the role of Managing Director of Noranda's European sales company in London, England. Mr. Neatby brings to Avalon an experience from small teams in industrial minerals and chemicals, to larger ones involved in marketing and trading London Metals Exchange ("LME") metals. He has served as Chairman of industry associations in the UK and as a LME committee member. He trained as a Black Belt in Six Sigma with Noranda and directed a number of process improvement initiatives.

William Mercer

Dr. William Mercer, Ph.D., is Vice President - Exploration of Avalon Rare Metals Inc., since June 21, 2007. He spent 24 years with Noranda, then Falconbridge and finally Xstrata holding various positions including assistant exploration manager, Cordilleran district; director, international exploration; director, geology and geochemistry; and most recently chief geologist. Dr. Mercer has also been a active member of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) serving on numerous committees over many years and as PDAC president from 2000 to 2002. During his career both at Noranda-Falconbridge and PDAC, Dr. Mercer has been an advocate for improved environmental, health and safety practice in the mineral exploration industry, and will be in charge of implementing such programs for the all of the company's projects, consistent with the company's strategic objectives for sustainable development. He is Self-employed Geological Consultant from October 2006 to December 2010.

Mark Wiseman

Mr. Mark Wiseman is Vice President - Sustainability of Avalon Rare Metals Inc., since November 23, 2011. Mr. Wiseman is a graduate of the University of Guelph with a B.Sc. in Zoology and later obtained his MBA at Laurentian University in Sudbury. He has over 30 years of experience in the mining industry specifically in the area of community, environment, health and safety ("CEHS"). Most recently, he served as Director of Health, Safety, Environment and Permitting for Xstrata Nickel on the Koniambo project in New Caledonia. Previously, he held several similar positions with Falconbridge Limited, in Canada and internationally, including three years at the Collahuasi Project in Chile, where he participated in achieving a safety record, reaching over two million hours without Lost Time Injuries.

Alan Ferry

Mr. Alan L. H. Ferry is Independent Director of Avalon Rare Metals Inc. Mr. Ferry is Self-employed Businessperson since July 2007 and prior thereto, Vice- President, Metals and Minerals for D&D Securities Company (an investment dealer). He is Retired Chartered Financial Analyst with over 25 years experience as a mining analyst with various investment dealers. He Holds a B.Sc. He Serves on the board of directors and the audit committee of five publicly traded companies.

Larry Fontaine

Mr. Larry Philip Fontaine is Independent Director of Avalon Rare Metals Inc. He is the Special Advisor to the Royal Bank of Canada and prior thereto the former National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations for three consecutive terms. Recently, Mr. Fontaine has been a vocal advocate, through initiatives such as the AFN's Corporate Challenge campaign, for more First Nations - Industry partnerships as a means of alleviating chronic poverty in remote northern communities.

Peter McCarter

Mr. Peter N. McCarter is Independent Director of Avalon Rare Metals Inc., since November 16, 2007. Mr. McCarter was Executive Vice-President, Corporate Affairs, Secretary and a director of Aur Resources Inc. prior to its acquisition this year by Teck Cominco Limited. Prior to joining Aur Resources in 1989, Mr. McCarter practiced law at the Toronto law firm of Aird & Berlis from 1978-1989, specializing in corporate, securities and resource law. He is a graduate of the University of Toronto (B.A., 1974) and York University (Osgoode Hall) where he obtained his LL.B and M.B.A degrees in 1978. Mr. McCarter is also a director of Thundermin Resources Inc. and has periodically served on several advisory committees to the Ontario Securities Commission.
