Biographies

Name Description

George Maina

Mr. George A. Maina has served as Non-Executive Chairman of British American Tobacco Kenya Ltd since September 1, 2013. He served as Non-Executive Director of the Company between November 2010 and September 1, 2013. He is an engineer by profession. He worked with the Shell Group of Companies for 26 years during which time he served in senior management in Kenya, Jamaica and Ghana. In 1998, he was appointed Managing Director of Kenya Shell and BP Kenya Ltd before leaving corporate employment to pursue private business in 2004. He holds directorships in NIC Bank, Insurance Company of East Africa, Afrika Investment Bank, Faulu Kenya Limited and Nairobi Stock Exchange. He is also a Trustee of Starehe Boys Centre, Africa Conservation Centre and Gertrude Gardens Children’s Hospital. He holds a Bachelors degree in Aeronautics Engineering from Loughborough University. He is Member of the Audit Committee and Chairman of the Nominations Committee of the Company.

Philip Lopokoiyit

Mr. Philip Lopokoiyit has served as Finance Director, Executive Director of British American Tobacco Kenya Ltd since November 2010. He was previously the BAT West Africa Area Finance Director, based in Lagos. He has experience in financial management and has served in senior management over the last 10 years as Head of Finance in several BAT business units. He is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK), a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales and holds Masters of Business Administration degree from Warwick Business School. He is Member of the Audit Committee and Member of the Remunerations Committee of the Company.

Dirk Eloff

Mr. Dirk Eloff has served as Head of Operations of British American Tobacco Kenya Ltd since January 2014. Joined BAT in January 1982. He has filled various Operations roles in Kenya, Pakistan, the UK, Turkey and South Africa. He joined the Leadership Team in January 2014 in his current role.

Simukai Munjanganja

Mr. Simukai D. Munjanganja has served as Head of Legal and External Affairs of British American Tobacco Kenya Ltd since 2013. Joined BAT in 2000. He has held several management roles in both Legal and Corporate & Regulatory Affairs in Southern Africa and the United Kingdom and most recently as Global Regulation Counsel based in the Group Head Office. He joined the Leadership Team in 2013 in his current role.

Keith Gretton

Mr. Keith Gretton has served as Managing Director, Executive Director of British American Tobacco Kenya Ltd since July 1, 2015. Mr. Gretton served as BAT General Manager East Africa Markets based in Nairobi between June 2011 to December 2012 and as Area Head of Corporate & Regulatory Affairs with the then BAT Sub-Saharan Africa Area between April 2007 to September 2008. Most recently, Mr. Gretton held the position of Area Director, North Africa & Managing Director of BAT Egypt. He was responsible for BAT Group’s operations across North Africa. Prior to this he was responsible for BAT’s operations in West Africa based in Lagos Nigeria. He is currently also the Area Director for BAT East and Central Africa. He is Member of the Audit Committee, Member of the Nominations Committee, and Member of the Remunerations Committee of the Company.

Lina Githuka

Ms. Lina Githuka has served as Head of Marketing of British American Tobacco Kenya Ltd since January 2014. Joined BAT in September 2000. She has held various management positions in Kenya, South Africa and Uganda. Lina becomes the first Kenyan Head of Marketing. She joined the Leadership Team in January 2014 in her current role.

Razeeah Belath

Ms. Razeeah Belath has served as Head of Human Resources of British American Tobacco Kenya Ltd since August 2012. She joined the Company in September 2001 as a Management Trainee in Human Resources. She has held several senior HR management roles including Area Head of Talent in Sub-Saharan Africa and most recently Eastern Europe Middle East Africa Regional Head of Talent in 2010

Ruth Ngobi

Ms. Ruth T. Ngobi has served as Company Secretary of British American Tobacco Kenya Ltd since August 2002. She also serves as Secretary to the Board’s Nominations Committee. She was educated in both Kenya and the United Kingdom and qualified as a lawyer in 1985. She previously worked with Unilever Kenya Limited for 15 years as Company Secretary with responsibilities for legal support and services to Unilever’s operations in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Ethiopia. She was Area Legal Counsel for BAT East and Central Africa Area until June 2010 when she retired from full time employment with the Company but retained her role as Company Secretary. She also serves as Secretary of the Nominations Committee of the Company.

M. Janmohamed

Mr. M. Janmohamed has served as Non-Executive Director of British American Tobacco Kenya Ltd since November 1, 2012. Additionally, Mr. Mohamed serves as Managing Director of Serena Hotels Africa and as Head of the Tourism Department for Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development (AKFED) and is responsible for 35 Hotels, Lodges and Safari resorts located in 9 countries in Africa and Asia. His work experience includes Senior Management positions in Europe and Africa. He is the Founder Chairman of the Kenya Tourism Federation and a Trustee of the East African Wildlife Society. He is a Director on the Kenya Tourism Board and Kenya Land Conservation Trust. He is also a member on the Eastern Africa Association Advisory Council. Teddy Mapunda

Mrs. Teddy Hollo Mapunda has served as Non-Executive Director of British American Tobacco Kenya Ltd since October 1, 2014. She is the founder of Montage Limited, a consultancy and creative agency based in Tanzania. She has over 20 years of leadership experience in public relations, customer service, administration and sales. Mrs. Mapunda is the founder of Montage Limited, a multi-dimensional consultancy and creative agency based in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania. She has over twenty years of leadership experience in public relations, customer service, administration and sales. Mrs. Mapunda is a graduate of the Swedish Institute of Management and the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration of the University of Ghana. Board Member of Why Africa Now of USA, Mpingo Conservation, TPS Eastern Africa (Serena Hotels) and the Tanzania Tourist Board. She is Member of the Remuneration Committee of the Company.

Gayling May

Mr. Gayling Richard May has served as Non-Executive Director of British American Tobacco Kenya Ltd since September 2005. He has accounting background and is Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He has worked in various countries and has a history of 37 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers. He is currently Regional Representative of the Eastern Africa Association. He holds directorships in Groove Limited, Airside Limited (Swissport Kenya), Heritage Insurance Company Limited, CFC Stanbic Bank Limited, CFC Stanbic Holdings Limited, CFC Financial Services Limited and CFC Life Assurance Company Limited. He is Chairman of the Audit Committee and Member of the Nominations Committee of the Company.

C. Musyoka

Mrs. C. Musyoka has served as Non-Executive Director of British American Tobacco Kenya Ltd since February 2011. She is a lawyer by profession. She was previously Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer at K-Rep Bank. Prior to this she was a Board member and Corporate Director of Barclays Bank Kenya. She currently provides consulting and training services for various local and commercial banks and insurance companies. She holds directorships in Transcentury Ltd, SOS Childrens' Villages and Alliance Capital Partners. She is a Non-Executive Director of East African Breweries Limited and chairs the Board of the recently constituted Business Registration Services under the Attorney General’s office. She is Member of the Audit Committee of the Company.

Peter Mwangi

Mr. Peter K. Mwangi has served as Non-Executive Director of British American Tobacco Kenya Ltd since February 2015. Mr. Mwangi is currently the Group Chief Executive Officer of UAP-Old Mutual Group in East Africa since 1st July 2015. Prior to this appointment he served as the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Old Mutual Group in Kenya from October 2014 and the Chief Executive Officer of the Nairobi Securities Exchange Limited for a period of 6 years until September 2014. He has over twenty years of proven business and leadership experience. Mr. Mwangi holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Nairobi. He is a member of the CFA Institute, CFA Society of East Africa, Institute of Certified Investment and Securities Analysts, Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK), Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya (ICPSK), Institute of Directors of Kenya and the Kenya Institute of Management (KIM).

Martin Oduor-Otieno

Dr. Martin L. Oduor-Otieno has served as Non-Executive Director of British American Tobacco Kenya Ltd since August 1, 2016. He was Director of the Company from January 1, 2012 to July 1, 2013. Previously, he served as Non-Executive Director of the Company from June 1, 2007 to 2011. He is currently an independent Business Advisor and Executive Coach since January 2016. Prior to this, he worked with Deloitte East Africa and served as Partner, Financial Services Industry from May 2013 to December 2015. Between October 2005 and December 2012 he worked at Kenya Commercial Bank Group initially as Deputy CEO and then as Chief Executive Officer. He holds Executive MBA from SEAMI Business School and Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Nairobi and is a Fellow of both the Kenya Institute of Bankers and Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya as well as both the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries Kenya and the Institute of Directors of Kenya. He is a Non-Executive Director of Standard Bank Group, East African Breweries Limited and GA Life Insurance. He is no stranger to the Company having previously worked for the Company and also served on the Board as a Non-Executive Director. He is a strong advocate for good governance and institutional development and the Board of the Company is confident that the Board and indeed the Company stand to benefit from the wealth of experience and commercial acumen that he brings to the table.
