Name Description

Werner Wenning

Mr. Werner Wenning has been Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Bayer AG as of October 1, 2012. Prior to that he acted as Member of the Supervisory Board since April 27, 2012 and Chairman of the Management Board and Chief Executive Officer of the Company since April 26, 2002. Mr. Wenning is Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Bayer Schering Pharma AG. He joined Company in 1966 as a commercial trainee. He held a number of positions with Bayer in Germany and abroad, serving as managing director of Bayer subsidiaries in Peru and Spain and later as Head of the Corporate Planning and Controlling Division. Mr. Wenning was appointed to the Board of Management as Chief Financial Officer in February 1997. Since September 2005 he has also been President of the German Chemical Industry Association. Mr. Wenning is also Vice President of the Federation of German Industries and a Member of the Supervisory Board of Henkel KGaA and Evonik Industries AG.

Marijn Dekkers

Dr. Marijn E. Dekkers has been Chairman of the Management Board and Chief Executive Officer of Bayer AG since October 1, 2010. He served as Member of the Management Board at the Company as of January 1, 2010. He began his career in the central research department of General Electric in Schenectady, New York. Two years later, Dr. Dekkers transferred to the GE Plastics research facility at Bergen op Zoom in the Netherlands. In 1988 he returned to the corporate research center to become Head of polymer materials research. After that, Dr. Dekkers held further management positions in various polymers units of GE. In 1995 he joined Allied Signal (subsequently Honeywell International Inc.) in Morristown, New Jersey. In the period through the end of 1999 he headed this company’s Specialty Films and Fluorine Chemicals business groups and then the Electronic Materials division in San Jose in California’s Silicon Valley. In 2000 Dr. Dekkers accepted an offer from Boston-based Thermo Electron Corporation. There he initially served as Chief Operating Officer. Two years later he was appointed the company’s President and Chief Executive Officer. Dr. Dekkers received a Bachelor degree in Chemistry from University of Nijmegen and a Master degree as well as a Doctorate in Chemistry from Technische Universiteit Eindhoven.

Hermann Strenger

Thomas de Win

Mr. Thomas de Win has been Vice Chairman of the Supervisory Board at Bayer AG since March 2, 2006. In addition, he acts as Member of the Company's Presidial Committee/Mediation Committee as well as Audit Committee. Mr. de Win joined Bayer AG in 1974. From 1975 to 1978 he trained as an office management assistant. On completion of his vocational training Mr. de Win worked in the administration of Bayer AG. Between 1976 and 1984 he held various positions in the Central Representative Body for Young Workers and Trainees. After completing his civilian service (1980 to 1981), Mr. de Win became a Member of the Bayer AG Works Council in 1984. Since 1989 he has been released for service as a Works Council Member. In 1998 Mr. de Win was elected Deputy Chairman of the Works Council. Since that time he has been a Member of both the Central and Group Works Councils. One year later he became Deputy Chairman of the Bayer Central Works Council. In 2001 he was elected to the National Board of the German Mine, Chemical and Power Workers' Union. Mr. de Win is Chairman of the Bayer Group Works Council as well as Bayer Central Works Council. He is also Member of the Supervisory Board of Bayer MaterialScience AG.

Werner Baumann

Mr. Werner Baumann has been Member of the Management Board responsible for Finance at Bayer AG since May 1, 2010. After studying Economics at RWTH Aachen University and the University of Cologne, he joined Bayer AG in 1988. His first duties were in the Corporate Finance Department in Leverkusen. In 1991 Mr. Baumann transferred to Bayer Hispania Comercial in Barcelona, Spain, to take up a position as Controller, becoming Assistant to the Managing Director in 1995. A year later, he moved to Bayer Corporation in Tarrytown, New York, latterly heading up the global Business Planning and Administration organization of the Diagnostics Business Group. In July 2002, Mr. Baumann returned to Germany to become Member of the Executive Committee and Head of Central Administration and Organization at Bayer HealthCare. In October 2003 he was appointed Member of the Board of Management of the newly formed subgroup Bayer HealthCare AG, also serving as the company’s Labor Director. As Member of the Board of Management and Labor Director of Bayer Schering Pharma, Berlin, Germany, from 2006 through September 2009, he actively participated in this company’s integration into the subgroup. Until December 31, 2009 Mr. Baumann also served on the Board of Bayer Business Services GmbH and until March 31, 2009 he was active on the Board of DIREVO Biotech AG. Since May 1, 2010 Mr. Baumann also has been active as Chairman of the Board at Bayer Business Services GmbH and Bayer CropScience AG.

Wolfgang Plischke

Dr. Wolfgang Plischke has been Member of the Management Board, responsible for Innovation, Technology and Environment at Bayer AG since March 1, 2006. He is Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Bayer MaterialScience AG and Bayer Technology Services GmbH. From July 1, 2002 until his appointment to the Bayer AG Board, he was a Member of the Bayer HealthCare Executive Committee and head of the Pharmaceuticals Division. In 1988, he was placed in charge of marketing in the Pharmaceuticals Business Group in Germany and in 1991 he was appointed head of International Strategic Marketing. In 1995, he became President of Bayer Yakuhin Ltd., Japan, with responsibility for Pharmaceuticals and Consumer Care. In 2000, Dr. Plischke took over as head of the Pharmaceuticals Business Group in North America. Dr. Plischke studied Biology at Universitaet Hohenheim before starting his career in 1980 with Bayer's subsidiary, Miles Diagnostics.

Michael Koenig

Mr. Michael Koenig has been Member of the Management Board responsible for Human Resources of Bayer AG since April 1, 2013. He is also responsible for the Latin America, Africa and Middle East regions and the subsidiary Currenta. After studying chemical process engineering at Technische Universitaet Dortmund and performing his compulsory military service, Mr. Koenig joined Bayer as a process engineer for chemicals projects in Europe. He assumed a variety of engineering-related positions of increasing responsibility in the areas of engineering, process development and maintenance management. He transferred to China in 2000 to become General Manager of Bayer Polymers Shanghai Co. Ltd. There he oversaw the construction of the new production site, the Bayer Integrated Site Shanghai, and was made site manager in 2002. Thereafter he served as Global Head of Production and Technology Isocyanates at Bayer Material Science. On April 1, 2007, Mr. Koenig became Senior Bayer Representative for the Greater China country group and Senior Country Representative for Bayer MaterialScience in China. He was Head of Bayer MaterialScience's Polycarbonate Business Unit from July 1, 2011, until his appointment to the Bayer Board of Management. He was also the member of the Bayer MaterialScience Executive Committee responsible for the Asia/Pacific region.

Paul Achleitner

Dr. Paul Achleitner has been Member of the Supervisory Board at Bayer AG since April 26, 2002. In addition, he acts as Member of the Company's Presidial Committee/Mediation Committee as well as the Nominations Committee. Dr. Clemens A. H. Boersig has been Member of the Supervisory Board at Bayer AG since April 2007. Dr. Boersig served as Member of the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Lufthansa AG until April 29, 2008.
