Biographies

Name Description

David Walker

Sir David Walker has been appointed as Non-Executive Chairman of the Board of Barclays PLC. He joined the Board as a non-executive Director on 1 September 2012, and was appointed as Chairman on 1 November 2012. He began his career in 1961 with Her Majesty’s Treasury, where, with a period on secondment to the International Monetary Fund in Washington (1969-1973), he served until 1977. From 1977-1993, Sir David held several key positions at the Bank of England where, in 1981, he became one of four Executive Directors of the Bank. From 1988-92 he was Chairman of the Securities & Investment Board and, ex officio, a nominated member of the Council of Lloyd’s over the same period. He was a non-executive member of the Court of the Bank of England from 1988-1993. Sir David was a non-executive board member of the former CEGB and subsequently of National Power plc between 1984 and 1994. He was formerly Chairman of Reuters Venture Capital, Vice-Chairman of the Legal and General Group and was Chairman of the London Investment Bankers’ Association for four years until June 2004. Sir David joined Morgan Stanley in 1994, where he was Chairman and CEO, Morgan Stanley International, and subsequently Chairman. At the end of 2005, he retired as Chairman but remained a Senior Advisor until the end of August 2012. Since 2007 Sir David has completed two reports and made recommendations in respect of the private equity industry and corporate governance at financial institutions. He also co-led the independent review of the report that the FSA produced into the failure of Royal Bank of Scotland and was a member of the four-person Committee chaired by Lord Woolf (former Lord Chief Justice) into ethical business conduct in BAE Systems plc, which reported in May 2008.

Antony Jenkins

Mr. Antony P. Jenkins has been appointed as Group Chief Executive Officer, Executive Director of Barclays PLC. He was appointed Group Chief Executive on 30 August 2012, having previously been Chief Executive of Barclays Retail and Business Banking business since November 2009. He started his career at Barclays in 1983, where he completed the Barclays Management Development Programme before going on to hold various roles in retail and corporate banking. He moved to Citigroup in 1989, working in both London and New York. In January 2006, he rejoined Barclays as Chief Executive of Barclaycard, where he led a revival in the fortunes of the business. He joined the Barclays Executive Committee in November 2009. He is the Member of the Board of Directors of the Institute of International Finance from February 2013. Between February 2009 and February 2013, Antony represented Barclays as a Non-executive Director on the Board of Absa, the Group’s South African banking subsidiary. He was also on the Board of Visa Europe Ltd between October 2008 and December 2011. He is Chairman of the Group Executive Committee.

Michael Rake

Sir Michael Rake is Non-Executive Deputy Chairman of the Board, Senior Independent Director of Barclays PLC. Sir Michael joined the Board in January 2008 as a non-executive Director, and was appointed Senior Independent Director in October 2011 and Deputy Chairman in July 2012. Sir Michael has non-executive experience, both as a chairman and board member of listed companies. With over 30 years spent with KPMG, Sir Michael has substantial financial and commercial experience gained in Continental Europe and the Middle East. He was Senior Partner of the UK firm from 1998-2002 and Chairman of KPMG International from 2002-2007. He has been Chairman of BT Group plc since 2007; Chairman of easyjet Plc since January 2010 (Deputy Chairman June 2009-December 2009); Director of the Financial Reporting Council (2007-2011); Director of the McGraw-Hill Companies since 2007; Chairman of the UK Commission for Employment and Skills (2007-2010); Chairman of Business in the Community (2004-2007). He is Chairman of the Board Audit Committee since March 2009 (member since January 2008); Member of the Board Financial Risk Committee since May 2009; Member of Board Corporate Governance and Nominations Committee since May 2009; Member of the Board Enterprise Wide Risk Committee since its formation in January 2013.

Tushar Morzaria

Mr. Tushar Morzaria has been appointed as Group Finance Director, Executive Director of Barclays PLC., effective October 15, 2013. Mr. Morzaria is currently Chief Financial Officer, Corporate and Investment Banking at JP Morgan Chase, where he has spent the majority of his career. Tushar Morzaria qualified as a chartered accountant in the UK in 1993 before moving into banking. He has spent the majority of his career in a variety of roles at JP Morgan Chase both in London and New York.

Eric Bommensath

Mr. Eric Bommensath has been appointed as Co-Chief Executive - Corporate and Investment Banking, Head - Markets of Barclays PLC., effective May 1, 2013. Eric joined Barclays in London in 1997 as Head of Derivatives, Europe. He was appointed Head of Fixed Income in 2002. Between 2006 and August 2010 he was based in New York and held the additional position of Head of Trading, Americas. He relocated back to London in September 2010 as Head of FICC. In this role, he was responsible for the Fixed Income, Foreign Exchange, Commodities, Emerging Markets and Prime Services trading businesses globally. He also had responsibility for all trading in the EMEA region. Prior to joining Barclays, Eric spent eight years at Bankers Trust in London, Tokyo and Paris where he was appointed Managing Director in 1995. Eric studied Science at École Polytechnique in Paris and Engineering at École Ponts et Chaussées.

Peter Horrell

Mr. Peter Horrell has been appointed as Interim Chief Executive - Wealth & Investment Management of Barclays PLC., effective May 1, 2013. Peter is Head of the Intermediaries, International & Direct businesses and Investment Management division of Barclays. He is a member of the Barclays Wealth and Investment Management Executive Committee and Barclays Senior Leadership Group. Peter is, also, responsible for Barclays Stockbrokers which is the UK's number one execution-only stockbroker. Peter joined Barclays in 1990 and has led teams within Wealth and Investment Management, Corporate Banking and Retail Banking divisions. Peter is a Senior Scholar in Natural Sciences from St Catharine's College, Cambridge.

Tom King

Mr. Tom King has been appointed as Co-Chief Executive - Corporate and Investment Banking, Head - Investment Banking Division of Barclays PLC., effective May 1, 2013. Tom joined Barclays in December 2009 as Head of Investment Banking Division, EMEA, and Co-Head of Global Corporate Finance. In April 2012, he assumed additional responsibility for jointly overseeing the newly combined Corporate Finance/M&A teams. He was appointed Deputy Head of Investment Banking Division in October 2012. His transit to the Global Head of IBD involved him moving to the US in Q1 of 2013. Tom joined Salomon Brothers in 1989 and moved to London in 1999 when he was appointed global head of M&A. He was named head of EMEA IBD for Citi in 2005, and head of the combined Corporate and Investment Banking business in 2008. Throughout his career, he has led numerous marquee M&A and strategic financing transactions. Tom graduated from Bowdoin College with a BA in Economics, Magna Cum Laude, and has an MBA in Finance with Distinction from The Wharton School.

Maria Ramos

Ms. Maria Ramos is Group Chief Executive of Absa Group and Barclays Africa of Barclays PLC since 2009. She is the Group Chief Executive of Absa Group Ltd, which is majority owned by Barclays. Prior to joining Absa on 1st March 2009, she was the Group Chief Executive of Transnet Limited, the state-owned South African freight transport and logistics service provider. This was after term as Director- General of the National Treasury (formerly the Department of Finance). She currently serves on the executive committees of the International Business Council, the World Bank Chief Economist Advisory Panel, Business Leadership South Africa and the Banking Association of South Africa.

Robert Le Blanc

Mr. Robert M. Le Blanc is Chief Risk Officer of Barclays PLC. He has been the Chief Risk Officer for Barclays Group since 2004. He first joined Barclays in 2002 as Head of Risk Management at Barclays Capital. He is a non-executive Director of Absa, which is majority owned by Barclays. Before joining Barclays, Robert spent most of his career at JP Morgan in the capital markets, fixed income, emerging market and credit areas in New York and London.

Mark Harding

Mr. Mark Harding is Group General Counsel of Barclays PLC since 2003. Included within his area of responsibility are legal and regulatory compliance issues throughout the bank. He chairs the Group Operating Committee and Group Governance and Control Committee. Previously, Mark was a partner in the international law firm, Clifford Chance, where his practice spanned bank finance, capital markets and financial services regulation. He spent four years at UBS as General Counsel of its investment bank. He is past Chairman of the General Counsel 100 Group and of the Board of the International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA). He is a Governor of the College of Law.

David Fernandez

Mr. David G. Fernandez is Head - Research For Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities For Asia Pacific of Barclays PLC. Mr. Fernandez joins Barclays from J.P. Morgan Chase & Co., where he was most recently chief economist and head of market strategy for emerging Asia. He spent 15 years at J.P. Morgan. Before joining the private sector, Mr. Fernandez served as an economist in the administration of President George H.W. Bush and at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. As a Ph. D. student at Princeton University, he was supervised by Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke.

Michael Roemer

Mr. Michael Roemer is the Head - Compliance of Barclays Plc. Michael Roemer joined Barclays in January 2011 as the Head of Barclays Internal Audit. He has a BS degree in Accounting from St. John’s University and completed the Tuck Executive Program at the Tuck School of Dartmouth College in 1998. Michael joined Barclays from CIT Group where he was the Chief Auditor, reporting directly to the Board Audit Committee and having global responsibility for CIT Group’s internal audit function. Michael has 27 years’ experience in internal audit, with 23 years of that time spent at JPMorgan Chase. Michael currently serves on the Advisory Board of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Metro New York where he is Audit Committee Chair. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Ronald McDonald House of New York, Inc. where he is also Audit Committee Chair.

Michael Ashley

Mr. Michael Ashley has been appointed as Non-Executive Director of Barclays PLC effective September 18, 2013. He is is Head of Quality and Risk Management for KPMG Europe LLP ('ELLP'), which forms part of the KPMG global network, where his responsibilities include the management of professional risks and also quality control. Michael is a member of the ELLP Board and is also KPMG UK's designated Ethics and Independence Partner. Michael is an experienced auditor with over 20 years experience as an audit partner, during which he was lead audit partner for financial services groups. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales' Ethics Standards Committee, a member of HM Treasury's Audit Committee and Vice Chair of the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group's Technical Group.

Diane de Saint Victor

Ms. Diane de Saint Victor has been appointed as Non-Executive Director of Barclays PLC. She was appointed as a non-executive Director with effect from 1 March 2013. She is currently General Counsel and Company Secretary and a member of the Group Executive Committee of ABB Limited (ABB), the publicly listed international power and automation technologies company based in Switzerland, where her responsibilities include Head of Legal and Integrity Group. She was formerly Senior Vice President and General Counsel of EADS, the European aerospace and defence company. She is Member of the Board Conduct, Reputation and Operational risk Committee with effect from 1 March 2013.

Crawford Gillies

Mr. Crawford Gillies has been appointed as Non-Executive Director of the Company effective May 1, 2014. He has over three decades of business and management experience, initially with Bain & Company, a firm of international management consultants, where he was Managing Director Europe from 2001 to 2005. While at Bain he worked with major companies in the UK, Continental Europe and North America across multiple sectors. Since 2007 he has been on the Board of Standard Life plc, where he has chaired the Remuneration Committee. He was Chairman of the law firm Hammonds, now Squire Sanders (2006 - 2009), has chaired Control Risks Group Holdings Ltd since 2007 and chaired Touch Bionics (2006 - 2011), an innovative medical device company. He joined the board of MITIE Group PLC in 2012. He has also held public sector posts in England and Scotland. He was an independent member of the Department of Trade & Industry (2002 - 2007) and chaired its Audit & Risk Committee (2003 - 2007). He is currently Chairman of Scottish Enterprise and he is a former Chairman of the Confederation of British Industry in London.

Wendy Lucas-Bull

Ms. Wendy Elizabeth Lucas-Bull has been appointed as Non-Executive Director of Barclays PLC., effective September 19, 2013. Wendy is an experienced company Director with specific retail and commercial banking experience and has held Board level positions in South African banks since 1994. She previously served as an Executive Director of Rand Merchant Bank and became CEO of FirstRand Retail following the merger of Rand Merchant Bank and First National Bank. Wendy is currently a Non-Executive Director of Anglo American Platinum Limited and has held senior Board positions at the Development Bank of Southern Africa, the South African Financial Markets Advisory Board, Nedbank Group Limited and Dimension Data PLC.

Stephen Thieke

Mr. Stephen G. Thieke is Non-Executive Director of the Company. He has four decades of experience in financial services, both in Regulation and Investment Banking. He worked for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York for twenty years where he held several senior positions in Credit and Capital Market Operations and Banking Supervision and later he became a Non-Executive Director at the UK's Financial Services Authority. He has also held senior roles in investment banking and risk management with JP Morgan where he spent ten years. He was Head of the Fixed Income Division, co-Head of Global Markets, President and Chairman of JP Morgan Securities, Inc. and Head of the Corporate Risk Management Group, retiring from JP Morgan in 1999. He has significant board level experience, both in executive and non-executive roles, including spending 7 years as a director of Risk Metrics Group, where latterly he served as Chairman of the board, and 9 years on the board of PNC Financial Services Corp.

Frits van Paasschen

Mr. Frits D. van Paasschen has been appointed as Non-Executive Director of Barclays PLC., effective August 1, 2013. He is President and CEO of Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, Inc., one of hotel companies. Since taking on this role, he has led a expansion of the business into new markets and launched two new hotel brands. Frits is an experienced CEO having also served as President and CEO of Coors Brewing Company between 2005 and 2007, during which time he presided over a turnaround to an increased market share for the business. Prior to 2005 Frits held various senior positions with Nike Inc and Disney Consumer Products. Frits formerly served as a Director on the Boards of Jones Apparel Group Inc. and Oakley, Inc.

Timothy Breedon

Mr. Timothy J. Breedon has been appointed as Non-Executive Independent Director of Barclays PLC., effective November 1, 2012. He was Group Chief Executive of Legal & General Group plc (L&G), until June 2012. Tim joined L&G in 1987, holding a number of roles before joining the board as Group Director (Investments) in 2002 and becoming Group Chief Executive in 2006. He remained an adviser to L&G, primarily with responsibilities in connection with Solvency II, until 31 December 2012. Tim served as Chairman of the Association of British Insurers (ABI) between July 2010 and July 2012, having been a director since 2007. He was also chairman of the UK Government’s non-bank lending taskforce, an industry-led taskforce that looked at the structural and behavioural barriers to the development of alternative debt markets in the UK, reporting its conclusions and recommendations in March 2012. Tim was a Director of the Financial Reporting Council from 2004 to 2007. He also served as a Director on the Board of the Investment Management Association between 2004 and 2005. Non-executive Director at the Ministry of Justice since December 2012. He is the Member of the Board Financial Risk Committee and the Board Remuneration Committee with effect from 1 December 2012; Member of the Board Conduct, Reputation and Operational Risk Committee with effect from 1 February 2013; Member of the Board Audit Committee with effect from 1 March 2013.

Fulvio Conti

Mr. Fulvio Conti is Non-Executive Independent Director of Barclays PLC. He joined the Board in April 2006 as a nonexecutive Director. Fulvio has financial and business experience from a career spanning over 35 years, and is currently CEO and General Manager of Enel SpA, the Italian energy company, where he was previously Chief Financial Officer from 1999 to 2005. During his career, Fulvio held the role of General Manager and CFO of Telecom Italia SpA from 1996-1998 and CFO for various private and government owned entities in Italy, was in charge of finance at Montedison-Compart, and was CFO of Montecatini. He has also held positions in finance and operations in various affiliates of Mobil Oil Corporation in Italy and Europe, where he spent his initial career spanning over 20 years. Simon Fraser

Mr. Simon J. Fraser is Non-Executive Independent Director of Barclays PLC since March 10, 2009. He has experience of the fund management industry, having started his career at Fidelity International where he spent 27 years. During this time, Simon was President of the Investment Solutions Group and President of the Retirement Institute. He held a number of other positions during his time at Fidelity International, including President, European & UK Institutional Business, Global Chief Investment Officer, Chief Investment Officer for Asia Pacific and Chief Investment Officer of the European Investment Group. Reuben Jeffery

Mr. Reuben Jeffery, III, is Non-Executive Independent Director of Barclays PLC since July 16, 2009. He has been CEO of Rockefeller & Co., Inc. since 2010 and has a broad range of banking and government experience. He previously served in the US government as Under Secretary of State for Economic, Energy and Agricultural Affairs (2007-2009), as Chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (2005- 2007); and as a Special assistant to the President on the staff of the National Security Council (2004- 2005). Previous to his government service, Reuben spent eighteen years at Goldman, Sachs & Co. (1983-2001) where he was managing partner of Goldman Sachs in Paris (1997-2001) and led the firm’s European Financial Institutions Group in London (1992-1997). Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Reuben was a corporate attorney with Davis Polk & Wardwell. He has been Member of the International Advisory Council of the China Securities Regulatory Commission; Member of the Advisory Board of TowerBrook Capital Partners LP; Member of the Board of Directors of the Financial Services Volunteer Corps. He is Member of the Board Financial Risk Committee since January 2010.

Andrew Likierman

Sir Andrew Likierman is Non-Executive Independent Director of Barclays PLC since September 1, 2004. He has wide ranging experience within both public and private sectors and academia, and is currently Dean of the London Business School and Chairman of the National Audit Office. Sir Andrew has held a number of high-profile roles, including 10 years spent as Managing Director, Financial Management, Reporting and Audit and Head of the Government Accountancy Service at HM Treasury. Sir Andrew also has a nonexecutive experience that includes serving as a non-executive Director of the Bank of England. In his professional capacity, Andrew has held the presidency of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, served as a member of the Financial Reporting Council for several years and was a member of the “Cadbury Committee” on UK Corporate Governance. Sir Andrew will retire from the Board at the 2013 AGM, having completed nine year’s service on the Board this year. He has been Trustee of the Institute for Government since September 2008; Chairman of Applied Intellectual Capital Inc. (2006-2008); Non-executive Director of the Bank of England (2004-2008); Non-executive Director and Vice-Chairman of the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust (2004-2008). Dambisa Moyo

Dr. Dambisa F. Moyo Ph.D., is Non-Executive Independent Director of Barclays PLC since May 1, 2010. She is an international economist and commentator on the global economy, with a background in financial services. Dambisa worked for the World Bank from 1993 to 1995. After completing a PhD in Economics, she worked for Goldman Sachs for eight years until November 2008 in the debt capital markets, hedge funds coverage and global macroeconomics teams. She has been Non-executive Director of SABMiller PLC since June 2009; Non-executive Director of Barrick Gold Corporation since April 2011; Non-Executive Director of Lundin Petroleum AB (publ) until May 2012. She is Member of the Board Financial Risk Committee since 2010; Member of the Board Conduct, Reputation and Operational Risk Committee since August 2011.

John Sunderland

Sir John Michael Sunderland is Non-Executive Independent Director of Barclays PLC since June 1, 2005. He has business and Board level experience, having spent forty years with Cadbury Schweppes PLC, where he became Chief Executive in 1996 and subsequently Chairman in 2003. Sir John has experience as a Director of UK listed companies, and has also held a number of similar positions in trade and professional bodies, including the Confederation of British Industry and the Chartered Management Institute.
