Name Description

Stuart McIntosh

Stuart McIntosh began his career in the semiconductor operations of Motorola nc, then General Instruments dnd GEC Plessey Semiconductors plc, where he was Director of Worldwide Operations before joining Philips Semiconductors By as Chief Operating Officer. While with Philips he served on the Board of International Sematech and also as Chairman of the Board of SMST (a joint venture company between Philips and IBM (International Business Machines Corporation), located in Germany). and as Chairman of the Board of SSMC (a joint venture company between Philips and TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation) and EDB (Economic Development Board), located in Singapore). He also served on the Board of Directors of Advanced Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation, a semiconductor manufacturing company located in Shanghai. Until recently he was Executive Vice President of Operations, President of Lithography and member of the board of management at ASML Holdings NV, the worlds leading supplier of semiconductor lithography systems. He has also served as a member of the SEMI NMB, headquartered in Washington DC. Stuart became Non-Executive Chairman of Bede plc in November 2004. David Hall

David Hall is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser. He started his commercial career as financial controller of a printing company following eight years in the accountancy profession. He joined Bede Scientific Instruments Limited in 1999 and was appointed Finance Director of Bede plc in 2000. He is responsible for all aspects of the Group’s accounting function and financial strategy.

James Polasik

James Polasik Chief Operating Officer and Director of Bede Plc. He has over 30 years experience in the semiconductor industry and has held various positions with Cumpugraphics International Limited, National Semiconductor Corporation and General Instrument Microelectronics, as well as senior executive global sales and operations positions at Align-rite International and Applied Materials Inc. In his previous employment with Applied Materials Jim held several senior management positions, the most recent (prior to joining Bede) being European Vice-President and General Manager, managing around 290 eniployees and with specific responsibility for all European regional accounts and the Philips gobal account. Jim joined Bede plc in November 2003 and was appointed to the Board of Bede plc with immediate effect. In 2004 he was promoted to Chief Operating Officer and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Bede, focusing on sales and manufacturing.

Christopher Honeyborne

Dr. Christopher Henry Bruce Honeyborne is Non-executive Director of Bede Plc. Having trained as a scientist, Christopher spent approximately 24 years in banking, gaining experience in a variety of roles with Lazard Brothers, Banque Paribas Group and Bank of NT Butterfield & Son. Formerly Chairman of Gremlin Group plc and a non-executive director of Yorkshire Water plc (now Kelda Group plc), he is now a non- executive director of Matica plc and Chairman of Dyson Group plc and Zoo Digital Group plc. He is also a non-executive director of a number of unquoted companies. He became a director of Bede plc in 2000.

Norman Price

Norman Price gained his degree from Imperial College and spent his early career with TI Group plc and British Steel plc where he was a subsidiary company Managing Director. He was subsequently a Group Executive Director of Triplex Lloyd plc. He is Deputy Chair of the West Midlands Regional Development Agency, leading on finance, manufacturing and innovation, and senior industrialist in the Department of Trade and Industry, specialising in finance and investment, particularly for high technology and growing businesses. He is also a member of the Confederation of British Industry SME Council and Tax Committee and a Vice-President of the EEF. He is currently a director of the British Standards Institution, Mercia Fund Management Limited and Investor Champions plc amongst others and Chairman of Eco-logic (UK) EMPS Limited. Norman joined Bede Scientific Instruments Limited in 1995 and was Chairman of Bede between November 2000 and November 2004.

Brian Tanner

Brian Tanner was Chairman of the Physics Department at the University of Durham from 1996 to 1999 where he has held various academic positions since 1973. He was elected Fellow of the Institute of Physics in 1982 and Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in 1996. He has authored over 300 scientific publications including the book ‘X-ray Metrology in Semiconductor Manufacturing’ with Keith Bowen. He is presently Director of the Technology Transfer Office of Durham University and undertakes high level scientific research in areas key to the Group’s development, focusing on magnetic films and multilayers. He was one of the founders of Bede Scientific Instruments Limited in 1978 and provides high level support and advice to the Group’s scientific staff and uses his contacts in the international science community to develop new market opportunities for Bede. He is also non-executive Chairman of Durham Scientific Crystals limited.
