Name Description

George Handjinicolaou

Mr. George Handjinicolaou has served as Non-Executive Chairman of the Board of Piraeus Bank S.A. since November 1, 2016. Mr Handjinicolaou is a highly experienced international business leader in the financial services sector. His career spans 33 years, the vast majority of which was spent at global financial institutions based in London and New York and the International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA) in London. Mr. Handjinicolaou was most recently Deputy CEO of ISDA, where he was a member of the Board of Directors. He previously held senior management positions in the derivatives and fixed income markets at several global financial institutions including Dresdner Kleinwort Benson, Bank of America Merrill Lynch and UBS in London and New York. Mr. Handjinicolaou started his career at the World Bank in Washington, DC. Mr. Handjinicolaou also has leadership experience in Greece from his roles as CEO of TBANK and as Vice Chairman of the Greek Capital Market Commission. Mr. Handjinicolaou received his PhD in Finance from the graduate school of business at New York University, where he also earned his MBA. He holds a BS degree from the Law School at the University of Athens in Athens, Greece.

Christos Megalou

Mr. Christos Megalou is Chief Executive Officer, Executive Member of the Board of Directors of the Company. Mr. Megalou is a highly experienced international banker. His career spans 31 years, the vast majority of which was with global financial institutions based mainly in London. Mr Megalou has served as CEO of Eurobank Ergasias SA, one of the four systemic banks in Greece. Previously, he held senior management positions in investment banking at Credit Suisse Group. Mr Megalou’s extensive international career, combined with leadership experience in restructuring within the Greek banking sector, will be of significant value in his role as CEO of Piraeus Bank.

Apostolos Tamvakakis

Mr. Apostolos Tamvakakis serves as Independent Non-Executive Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Piraeus Bank S.A. He is a graduate of Athens University of Economics and Business (1979) and holds an MA in Economics from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada (1981). From 1984 to 1986 Apostolos Tamvakakis worked at Mobil Oil Hellas. Between 1986 and 1989 he worked at Hellenic Investment Bank as, successively, accounts officer, officer in charge of stock market issuance / underwriting, officer in charge of M&As, finally becoming Manager of Corporate Finance. In 1990, he was appointed Manager of Corporate Banking, Corporate Finance and Trading at ABN AMRO Bank and, from 1993 onwards, as the Bank’s Deputy General Manager, Greece. From 1996 to 1998 he served as Deputy Governor of National Mortgage Bank and form 1998 to 2004 as Vice Chairman of NBG. In 2004, he became Executive Chairman and CEO of Lamda Development. From March through December 2009 he served on the management team of the Geneva-based Latsis Group, where he was Head of Strategy and Business Development. From December 2009 through June 2012 he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of National Bank of Greece. Since July 2012 he participates as a Member of the Board of Directors and Committees in various companies. Mr. Tamvakakis has served as Vice-President of HELEX (Hellenic Exchanges SA), Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Inter-Alpha Group of Banks, Chairman of Ethnocard (National Management & organization Co), National Securities SA and ETEVA (National Investment Bank for Industrial Development), President of the Southeastern European Board of the Europay Mastercard group, and as a member of various other boards and committees. Today he is member of the Board of QUEST HOLDINGS, EUROSEAS LTD and GEK TERNA S.A.

Prof. Charikleia Andreas Apalagaki has served as Chairman of Legal Council, Executive Member of the Board of Directors of PIRAEUS BANK S.A. since December 2, 2013. She previously served as Non-Executive Member of the Board of Directors and Legal Advisor. She studied Law at the Law Faculty of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She fulfilled her graduate studies in Law at the University of Thessaloniki and the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Universitat Hannover in Germany. In 1989 she was awarded a doctorate in Law from the Aristotle University and, since 2005, she is a professor at the same University, where she is responsible for graduate and undergraduate courses in the field of Civil Procedure. In addition to her academic post, she is a member of teaching Staff in the National School for the Judiciary committee, a member of the Hellenic Banks' Association Legal Council and a member of the Greek Association of Civil Procedure. She is Member of the Audit Committee of the Company.

He is a graduate of the Athens University of Economics and Business and holds an MBA degree from University of Alberta, Canada. He started his career in 1984 at the Ministry of Research and Technology involved with the assessment of investment programs. Following that, he worked at Ionian Bank for eight years. He joined Piraeus Bank in 1993, first as Director of Credit, Regional Manager, Director of Credit Division and finally as General Manager of Branch Network Division of Southern Greece. He is also member of the Boards of Directors of Piraeus Bank subsidiaries abroad. He is Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Company.

He has two Bachelors of Science degrees in Political Science and Public Administration from Panteion University. He started his career in American Express Bank, where he stayed for 29 years, mostly occupied managerial positions. He then joined Piraeus Bank, where he has served, from 1992 to 2005, as Retail Network Banking Manager, as Deputy General Manager, as General Manager, and as Management Advisor. From 2005 to 2007, he has worked as Deputy Managing Director in Proton Bank, while in the meantime from June 2006 to October 2006, he served Omega Bank as Managing Director. Mr. Solomon Albert Berahas has served as Non-Executive Board Member of Piraeus Bank S.A. since November 1, 2016. He served as Representative of the Greek Financial Stability Fund pursuant to Law 3864/2010 within the Company from May 31, 2012 to May 30, 2014. He was a Member of the Risk Management and Replacement Committees of the Company. He is Senior risk advisor with 33 years’ experience. He is CEO of Teiresias S.A.

Alexander Blades

Mr. Alexander Zisis Blades has served as Non-Executive Board Member of Piraeus Bank S.A. since January 27, 2016. He has 18 years of investment experience and is a Partner at Paulson & Co. Inc., an investment management firm headquartered in New York and with offices in London and Hong Kong. Since joining Paulson in 2009, he has been involved in a number of the Firm’s investments across various sectors and all parts of the capital structure, with an emphasis on distressed situations. Mr. Blades has extensive experience in the work-out of non-performing loans and bonds, corporate recapitalizations and in- and out-of-court restructurings, and he especially focuses on investments that involve legal strategies, bespoke securities and other special situations. Prior to joining Paulson, he was a Vice President in the Bank Dept Portfolio Group at Goldman Sachs & Co in New York, where he also worked intensively in Goldman’s leveraged finance business. Previously, Mr. Blades practiced for nine years as a corporate lawyer at Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom LLP and Mayer Brown LLP, where he specialized in leveraged finance, bankruptcy and private equity transactions originating in the United States, Europe and other jurisdictions.

Mr. Enrico Tommaso Cucchiani has served as Non-Executive Board Member of Piraeus Bank S.A. since November 1, 2016. He is Former CEO of Intesa Sanpaolo, Italy’s largest bank. He received a Masters degree in Business Administration from Stanford University, and a degree in Economics from Universita Commerciale Luigi Bocconi.

Vasileios Fourlis

Mr. Vasileios Stylianos Fourlis serves as Non-Executive Member of the Board of Directors of Piraeus Bank S.A. He is a Member of the Replacement Committee of the Company. He is the Chairman and the Managing Director of FOURLIS SA HOLDING, FOURLIS TRADE and HOUSEMARKET (IKEA). Furthermore, he is Vice-Chairman of EUROELECTRONIKI SA, ONEWAY SA and member of the Board of Directors of FRIGOGLASS. He has a B.Sc. degree in Regional Planning from the University of California, Berkeley. He was Chairman of the Remuneration Committee of the Company until January 18, 2012.

Iakovos Georganas

Mr. Iakovos Georgios Georganas has served as Non-Executive Member of the Board of Directors of Piraeus Bank S.A. since May 2004. He has been executive Vice Chairman of the Bank's Board of Directors from January 1992 until May 2004. He is a Member of the Group's Risk Management and Replacement Committees. He is also Chairman of Hellenic Exchanges SA, as well as a member of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Telecommunications Organization SA (OTE), Member of the Federation of Greek Industries and Vice Chairman of the Board of the Greek-Japanese Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Georganas is also Non-Executive Member of the Board of several financial, commercial and industrial companies. In 1955 Mr. Georganas earned a degree in Business Administration Athens University of Economics and Business. In 1979 he also completed an Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. In July 1958, he joined the Economic Development Financing Organization, at the graduate staff entry level. This wholly state owned, for profit, long term-credit organization evolved into Hellenic Industrial Development Bank (ETBAbank). After 32 years of service, he left in January 1991 with the rank of First Deputy-Governor. In the past, Mr. Georganas has also been Vice Chairman and member of the Capital Market Commission from January 1989 until January 1991, member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Banks' Association, member of the Committee of Long-Term Credit Institutions of the European Community and member of the Board of Directors of the Institute of Economic and Industrial Research (IOBE). In addition, he was Chairman of the Audit Committee of Piraeus Bank Group from June 2000 to August 2001.

Andreas Schultheis

Mr. Andreas Willi Schultheis has served as Non-Executive Member of the Board of Directors of Piraeus Bank S.A. since January 27, 2016. Mr. Andreas Schultheis is an experienced banker having spent the majority of his career with Joh. Berenberg, Gossler & Co, the oldest owner – managed private bank in Germany and one of the oldest banks in the world. Beginning as an apprentice in 1983, during his 32 years at Berenberg, Andreas was one of the original members of its shipping team, helping to build the function into the most profitable of the bank’s operations. He also held a number of correspondent banking roles for the organization, dealing in particular with former Eastern Bloc countries in the wake of the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, and then with numerous countries in preparation for European economic and monetary union. During this time he was Berenberg’s liaison officer for the National Australia Bank Group and its subsidiaries throughout the UK, and subsequently for CoreStates Bank in the USA. He was Head of Correspondent Banking for South East Europe as well as Scandinavia, with trade finance featuring in his professional portfolio throughout. Mr. Andreas Schultheis studied corporate banking at the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management between 1986 and 1988. In 2015, he joined international business group, the Libra Group, as Executive Vice-President.

Eftychios Vassilakis

Mr. Eftychios Theodoros Vassilakis serves as Non-Executive Member of the Board of Directors of Piraeus Bank S.A. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Yale University and a Masters of Business Administration degree from the Columbia Business School of New York (Columbia University). He has been Vice Chairman of AUTOHELLAS SA HERTZ since 1998. He was also General Manager of VITACAR SA OPEL from 1992-1999. In addition, he was Member of the Board of Directors of TECHNOCAR SEAT, AEGEAN AVIATION SA and MULTIFIN. He is Member of the Remuneration Committee of the Company.

Argyro Athanassiou

Ms. Argyro Athanasios Athanassiou has served as Independent Non-Executive Member of the Board of Directors of PIRAEUS BANK S.A. since May 16, 2014. She is the new Chairman of ELAIS – Unilever Hellas S.A., since on December 1st, 2013 she became the first woman to lead the company. She graduated from Franklin Pierce University in 1977 and then went on to earn her BA (Hons) in Marketing & Management from DEREE - The American College of Greece. She holds an MSC in International Relations and Personnel Management from the London School of Economics and Political Sciences. She has been part of the Unilever family for the past 29 years, holding various positions in the Marketing, Sales and Exports sectors, both in Greece and abroad. Participating in various external bodies, Ms. Athanassiou is a Member of the Board of the Foundation for Economic & Industrial Research (IOBE), a member of the Board of the Hellenic-Dutch Association (HEDA), as well as an active member of the Hellenic Management Association (EEDE), the Hellenic Institute of Marketing (EIM), the Women’s Organization of Managers and Entrepreneurs (TOGME), the Leadership Sector (THGE), and the Association of Chief Executive Officers (EASE).

Arne Berggren

Mr. Arne Berggren has served as Independent Non-Executive Board Member of Piraeus Bank S.A. since November 1, 2016. He has served as Chairman of the Nominations and Remuneration Committees of the Company since November 1, 2016. He is Bank restructuring specialist with over 25 years’ experience in 20 countries. He is former IMF Senior Advisor and head of restructurings at Swedbank. He holds a Bachelors degree from Uppsala Universitet.

David Hexter

Mr. David Richard Hexter has served as Independent Non-Executive Board Member of Piraeus Bank S.A. since January 27, 2016. He holds a Master of Arts degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics awarded by the University of Oxford, a Masters of Business Administration degree awarded by the Cranfield School of Management, and a Masters in Philosophy degree awarded by Birkbeck, University of London. David joined Citibank in London as a graduate trainee in 1970 and subsequently held executive positions in Luxembourg, Belgium, Greece, the UK, South Africa, the US and Switzerland. He was appointed Senior Credit Officer in 1986. Between 1989 and 1992 he was Division Executive for Central and Eastern Europe, including oversight of Citibank’s business in Poland. In 1992, David joined the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) as Director of its Financial Institutions practice. From 1996 he was Deputy Vice President of the Banking Department, Chairman of the Equity Investment Committee and a member of the Operations Committee. Since retiring from EBRD in 2004, David has been a supervisory board member of a number of commercial firms, banks and private equity funds operating in Russia, Kazakhstan, Denmark and Vietnam, including a major logistics. company listed on the London Stock Exchange, where he is currently also Chairman of its Audit Committee. He also serves as Chairman of the Audit Committee of the Company.

Chariton Kyriazis

Mr. Chariton Dimitrios (Harry) Kyriazis has served as Independent Non-Executive Member of the Board of Directors of Piraeus Bank S.A. since May 16, 2014. He obtained a Diploma in Civil Engineering (National Technical University of Athens), and MBA (INSEAD) and a Ph.D. (University of London). He has worked as an executive in medium sized Greek industrial companies (1982-1991), and served as Secretary General at the Ministry of National Economy (1992-1993) under Minister Stephanos Manos. Since 1994 he is active in the consulting field. He joined Arthur Andersen where he became partner and headed the Tax Division (1994-1999) and the Business Consulting Division (1999-2000). He then became Chairman of PricewaterhouseCoopers Business Solutions (PwC), acting as Head of the Advisory Business Unit (2000-2008) and the Government Services practice (2008-2011). He retired from PwC in July 2011 and now acts as a freelance consultant. During the period July 2011 – March 2015 he served as Executive Vice-Chairman at the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises SEV. He has been a Board member of SEV for a total of 21 years, and has been responsible over the years for industrial relations, energy, public administration and taxation. He represents SEV at the Board of ELTE (the regulators of the audit profession) and various other state bodies such as IKA (main social security fund). Currently he is Chairman of the Board of the Societe Anonyme “Stegi tis Viomichanias” and of “IVEPE-SEV”. He was a member of the Executive Committee of the Foundation of Economic & Industrial Research (IOBE), and served as President of the Hellenic Association of Management Consulting Firms (SESMA), and Vice-President of the Hellenic Management Association (EEDE).

Petros Pappas

Mr. Petros Alexandros Pappas serves as Independent Non-Executive Member of the Board of Directors of Piraeus Bank S.A. He founded Oceanbulk Maritime S.A. in 1989, a leading European dry cargo shipping company, managing up to 45 dry cargo vessels. Recently, Oceanbulk established three joint ventures with Oaktree Capital Management to invest in dry bulk carriers, product tankers and container vessels. Mr. Pappas is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Star Bulk Carriers Corp, a Nasdaq listed shipping company managing 28 dry cargo vessels. The combined fleet under management numbers in excess of 100 vessels. Mr. Pappas is a Director of the UK Defence Club and is a member of the Union of Greek Shipowners (UGS). Mr. Pappas received his B.A. in Economics and his MBA from The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
