Biographies

Name Description

David Edwards

 Mr. David Edwards has been appointed as Chairman of the Board of Botaneco Corp with effect from September 6, 2012. He graduated with a BASc (Mech Eng) from University of Waterloo and an MBA from University of Western Ontario, with subsequent accreditation as a P.Eng. (ME) and a CGA (resigned). He is currently a financial consultant. From 2002-2009 he was CFO at Wi-Sys Communications, a high-tech start-up company in Kanata. He retired in 2001 from full-time employment at SiGEM Inc. (now Mobile Knowledge) as financial consultant and Corporate Secretary. SiGEM Inc. was co-founded by Mr. Edwards and went public on the TSX-V during his term. He draws on over 40 years’ experience in various aspects of financial business planning and development and project management in Canada and development postings overseas, including earlier positions at Newbridge Networks, Bell Northern Research, Microsystems International, and the Export Development Corp. He was also Director of Operations at the Strategic Microelectronics Consortium.

Aki Georgacacos

 Mr. Aki Georgacacos serves as Interim President, Director of Botaneco Corp. He has over 10 years of venture capital and corporate finance experience in the biotechnology and industrial life sciences industries. He is Managing Director of Avrio Ventures, a venture capital fund focused on investing in food and agricultural technology companies. Prior to co-founding Avrio Ventures in 2006, Mr. Georgacacos was the Managing Director of FCC Ventures where he led the majority of the fund's investments with a focus on industrial life sciences companies. Before he became a venture capitalist, Aki was a Vice-President at Deloitte & Touche Corporate Finance where he advised Canadian companies in the biotechnology, agri-food, distribution, and health care sectors on public and private placements, mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, and strategies for maximization of shareholder value. He is a Chartered Accountant, CFA charter holder and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Saskatchewan.

Nam Fong Han

 Dr. Nam Fong Han has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Director of Botaneco Corp with effect from September 6, 2012. He has over 24 years of experience in personal care, food, nutraceutical, cosmeceutical, agri-bio products and agri-manufacturing industries. Dr. Han brings a science background to the Corporation as well as proven managerial skills, in relation to R&D, project management and general corporate management in both private and publicly traded corporations. Dr. Han earned his Bachelor of Science Honour Degree in Chemistry from University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada, and his PhD degree in Chemistry from University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada. Dr. Han was awarded a fellowship with Chemical Institute of Canada in 1999 for his excellent contribution to the Canadian chemical society. Dr. Han was awarded the 2010 Top Ten World Outstanding Examples of Chinese Entrepreneur at the China International Economics and Technology Cooperation Forum and Round Table Conference of Outstanding China and Foreign CEO in Beijing, China. Prior to joining the Corporation, Dr. Han was the President & CEO of Natunola Health Biosciences Inc.

Lianne Tibben

 Ms. Lianne Tibben has been appointed as Chief Financial Officer of Botaneco Corp effective February 28, 2013. Ms. Tibben has more than 20 years of accounting, financing and management experience and had served as CFO for several companies before joining NHI.

David Guebert

 Mr. David D. Guebert, CA,CPA, is Lead Independent Director of Botaneco Corp. Mr. Guebert is a Chartered Accountant and a Certified Public Accountant with 30 years of experience in finance and accounting and over 20 years' experience as Chief Financial Officer of public and private companies in the energy and technology sectors. Mr. Guebert is currently the Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer of Primary Corp., a diversified venture capital and merchant banking firm focused on the small cap market; of Times Three Wireless Inc., an intellectual property company that has a proprietary technology designed for deployment of wireless data transmission and location based services; and of Sereno Capital Corporation, a capital pool corporation.

Louis Lacasse

 Mr. Louis P. Lacasse is Director of Botaneco Corp., since April 16, 2009. He has been President of GeneChem Management Inc. since 1997 and Managing Partner of AgeChem Financial Inc. since 2006. GeneChem Management Inc. and AgeChem Financial Inc. are managing three life sciences venture capital funds which have invested in more than forty (40) companies in Canada, USA and Europe. Prior to joining GeneChem, Mr. Lacasse worked at the Caisse de dépôt et de placement du Quebec, where he held several positions between 1987 and 1997, including vice-president of Sofinov, a private placement subsidiary of the Caisse which focussed on biotechnology, information technology and industrial technology. Before joining the Caisse, Mr. Lacasse worked as a financial analyst with the National Bank of Canada, as manager at the Bank of Montreal and as project manager at the Centre de Développement Technologique. He has also owned a small retail company. Mr. Lacasse has been appointed to the boards of directors of many private and public companies. Among these are Calyx Bio-Venture Inc., MethylGene Inc., Warnex-Pharma Inc., and Aegera Therapeutics Inc. He holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from the École des Hautes Études Commerciales and a MBA from McGill University.
