Name Description

Michael Rake

Sir. Michael Rake is Chairman of the Board of BT Group PLC., since 26 September 2007. Sir Michael has financial, risk, and international business and professional services experience gained during his time as chairman of KPMG International from 2002 to 2007. He previously held other roles in KPMG from 1974. A Chartered Accountant, he was knighted in 2007 for his services to the accountancy profession.Other appointments include: Chairman of easyJet, senior independent director of Barclays and a non-executive director of McGraw-Hill. Sir Michael is also vice-president of the RNIB, a member of the board of the Transatlantic Business Dialogue, the Prime Minister’s Business Advisory Group and the WEF International Business Council. He is Deputy chairman of Barclays and a non-executive director of McGraw-Hill. Sir Michael is vicepresident of the RNIB, a member of the board of the Transatlantic Business Council, and is also to be appointed President of the Confederation of British Industry in June 2013.

Gavin Patterson

Mr. Gavin Patterson is Chief Executive Officer, Director of BT Group Plc. He has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of the Company effective 10 September 2013. He has experience in sales, marketing and operations. Prior to that, he was Chief Executive Officer - BT Retail of the Company. Gavin joined BT in January 2004 as managing director of its consumer division. He previously spent four years at Telewest (which later merged with NTL to become Virgin Media), including as managing director of its consumer division. Before entering the communications sector, he spent nine years at Procter and Gamble, rising to become European marketing director. As well as BT's retail division, Gavin oversees corporate responsibility programmes for BT Group and represents the company on the CBI's Climate Change Board. He has served as President of the Advertising Association since June 2011, is a non-executive director of British Airways and a Trustee of the British Museum. He also sits on the advisory board of the Cambridge Judge Business School. Gavin graduated from Cambridge University with a degree in chemical engineering.

Tony Chanmugam

Mr. Tony Chanmugam is Group Finance Director, Executive Director of BT Group PLC. He has experience in finance, risk and the management and delivery of contracts. He was formerly CFO, BT Retail, and Managing Director, BT Enterprises and, from 1997 to 2004, he was CFO and then Chief Operating Officer of BT Global Solutions. He qualified as a Chartered Management Accountant.

Iain Conn

Mr. Iain C. Conn has been appointed as Non-Executive Director of the Company effective June 1, 2014. Iain Conn joined BP Oil International in 1986, working in a variety of roles in oil trading, commercial refining and exploration before becoming, on the merger between BP and Amoco in 1999, vice president of BP Amoco Exploration's mid-continent business unit in Houston. At the end of 2000, he returned to London as group vice president and a member of the Refining and Marketing segment's executive committee, taking over responsibility in 2001 for BP's marketing operations in Europe. In 2002 he was appointed chief executive of BP Petrochemicals. Following his appointment to the board in 2004, he served for three years as group executive officer, strategic resources, in which he had responsibility for a number of regions and group functions including Technology, IT, Marketing, Safety, Procurement and Human Resources. He was appointed chief executive, Refining and Marketing on 1 June 2007. Iain has regional responsibility for Europe, including the UK, together with Asia and Southern Africa. Iain has served as a non-executive director and senior independent director at Rolls-Royce plc, having joined in 2005 and will stand down from Rolls-Royce at the AGM in May. Iain is chairman of the advisory board of the Imperial College Business School and a member of the Imperial College Council. Iain was born in Edinburgh and educated in Musselburgh, Scotland. He studied chemical engineering at the Imperial College London. Iain is a fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, the Royal Society of Edinburgh, the Institution of Chemicals Engineers, and the City and Guilds of London Institute.

D. Warren East

Mr. Warren East has been appointed as Non-Executive Director of BT Group Plc., with effective 1 February 2014. From 2001 to 2013, Warren East was chief executive officer of ARM Holdings plc, having joined the company in 1994 as general manager, design consulting business unit. Warren was vice president business operations from 1998 to 2000, when he was appointed chief operating officer. From 1983 to 1994, Warren was at Texas Instruments (Semiconductors) where he worked on applications and chip design for microcontrollers, analogue telephone devices and local area networks. Contributions included the design of very low power dialler chips and low system cost integrated analogue voice circuits for telephones, PC modems and LAN adapter system designs. Later he took up responsibility for the marketing of TI's semiconductor devices that can be programmed after manufacturing in Europe. After graduating Warren worked at DataType Limited (terminal design & manufacture) as a Design Engineer working on oscillator subsystems for VDUs, RF Emissions measurements and standards compliance. Warren is a non-executive director of Dyson and Micron Technology Inc and Senior Independent Director & Chairman Audit Committee of De La Rue plc. Warren is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and of the Institution of Engineering and Technology, and a Distinguished Fellow of the British Computer Society. He has an MBA from Cranfield University and a degree in Engineering Science from Oxford University.

Karen Richardson

Ms. Karen A. Richardson has been Non-Executive Director of BT Group PLC. With a 25 year career in the technology and software industry, Karen brings experience in technology to the Board. Karen was previously a board member of i2Group and from 1998 to 2005 Karen was with the NASDAQlisted software company Epiphany Inc, latterly as chief executive officer. She holds Director of Convercent, and an advisory board member of the Mita Institute and at Stanford University.

Tony Ball

Mr. Tony Ball is Independent Non-Executive Director of BT Group PLC. He brings international business experience in addition to financial, operational, sales and marketing experience. From 1999 to 2003 Tony was chief executive of BSkyB. He has also held a number of senior executive positions in broadcasting and telecoms businesses in the UK, US and Continental Europe. He serves as Chairman of the supervisory board of Kabel Deutschland, and on the board of the Spanish cable company ONO.

Phil Hodkinson

Mr. Phil Hodkinson is Independent Non-Executive Director of BT Group PLC. He has experience in the financial sector as well as risk, control, governance and sustainable business. Phil’s previous roles included group finance director of HBOS, chairman of Insight Investment and Clerical Medical and chief executive of Zurich Life and Eagle Star Life. He served as Non-executive director of Friends Life Group, Business in the Community and Travelex. Also a trustee of Action Medical Research and BBC Children in Need.

Nicholas Rose

Mr. Nicholas C. Rose is Independent Non-Executive Director of BT Group PLC. Nick brings experience in finance, risk, control, governance and international business experience. He was chief financial officer of Diageo prior to his retirement in December 2010, having joined the board in 1999. He serves as Chairman of Williams Grand Prix Holdings, senior independent director of BAE Systems, and chairman of Edwards Group.
