Biographies

Name Description
Brunck, Robert Mr. Robert Brunck serves as Chairman of the Board and Member of the Executive Committee at CGG Veritas, effective as of July 1, 2010. He has been Chairman and Managing Director (CEO) of the Company since May 20, 1999. He is also Chairman of the Company's Strategy Committee and Technology Committee. Mr. Brunck was Vice Chairman and Managing Director from September 1998 to May 1999 and was Managing Director from February 1995 to September 1998. He joined the Company in 1985 and was Vice President of Administration and Development from 1991 to 1995 and Director of Finance and Legal Affairs from 1989 to 1991. Prior to joining CGG Veritas, he was Director of Production and Transport at EDF from 1979 to 1985 and he also worked as a senior civil servant. Mr. Brunck currently serves as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Sercel Holding S.A., Chairman of the Board of Directors of CGG Americas, Director of Thales, Director of the Ecole Nationale Superieure de Geologie, Director of the Bureau of Geological and Mining Research, Director of the Conservatoire National des Arts et Metiers, and Director of the Groupement des Entreprises Parapetrolieres et Paragazieres. Mr. Brunck graduated from Ecole Polytechnique in 1969 and Ecole Nationale Superieure des Miones de Paris in 1974.
Lesage, Yves Mr. Yves Lesage is Director of CGG Veritas and has been Honorary Chairman since 1999. He is also Member of the Audit Committee and Technology Committee of the Company. Mr. Lesage was Chairman and Managing Director (CEO) of CGG Veritas from 1995 to 1999. Prior to that, he was Director of Europe Activities of Elf Acquitaine from 1984 to 1986, then Managing Director (CEO) of Societe Nationale Elf Acquitaine Production, and became Chairman and Managing Director (CEO) in 1989. Malcor, Jean-Georges Mr. Jean-Georges Malcor has been appointed on the position of Chief Executive Officer at CGG Veritas, effective as of July 1, 2010. He began his career at the Thales group in the Underwater Activities division (1983-1987). He then moved to the Sydney-based Thomson Sintra Pacific Australia, becoming Managing Director of the company (1990). Back in France, he became Director of Marketing and Communications (1991), then Director, Foreign Operations of Thomson Sintra Activites Sous-Marines (1993). In 1996, he was appointed Managing Director of Thomson Marconi Sonar Australia and then the first Managing Director of the joint venture Australian Defense Industry (1999). In 2002, he became Senior Vice President, International Operations of Thales International. From 2004 to 2009, he was Senior Vice President, in charge of the Naval Division. Since January 2009, he was Senior Vice President, in charge of the Aerospace Division. In June 2009, he moved to the position of Senior Vice President, Continental Europe, Turkey, Russia, Asia, Africa, Middle East, and Latin America. Mr. Malcor is a graduate of Ecole Centrale de Paris. He also holds a Master of Sciences degree from Stanford University, and a Doctorat from Ecole des Mines.
Le Roux, Thierry Mr. Thierry Le Roux is Executive Managing Director of CGG Veritas from January 2007. Prior to this, he was Appointed Managing Director in charge of Finance of CGG Veritas from September 2005. He is also Member of the Company's Executive Committee. Before that time, he had been Senior Executive Vice President of the equipment segment since 1999. Mr. Le Roux was also Executive Vice President of CGG’s Geophysical Equipment operations from March 1995 to 1999 and was Business Development Manager from 1992 to 1995 and Far East Manager from 1984 to 1992. He joined the Company in 1975 and started working as Head of Middle East Terrestrial Operations focusing on Jordan, Syria and Oman until 1980. He then moved to China to be Head of Terrestrial Operations and Treatment and in 1982, he moved to Singapore to be Head of Terrestrial Operations for the Asia Pacific region. Mr. Le Roux graduated from Hautes Etudes Commerciales (HEC) in 1993 and Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussees in 1975. He has been Chairman of Sercel S.A. since 1995 and is also Chairman of the Board of Sercel Inc. and Hebei Sercel-Jungfeng Geophysical Prospecting Equipment Co. Frydman, Stephane-Paul Mr. Stephane-Paul Frydman is Director of Finance and Member of the Executive Committee of CGG Veritas. Mr. Frydman had previously been Group Controller and Treasurer for CGG Veritas since September 2005 and had been Deputy Financial Director of the CGG Group since January 2004. Before that time, he had been CGG's Vice President in charge of corporate financial affairs reporting to the Director of Finance since December 2002. Prior to joining CGG, Mr. Frydman was an Investor Officer of Butler Capital Partners, a private equity firm, from April 2000 to November 2002, and Industrial Advisor to the French Minister of the Economy and Finances from June 1997 to March 2000.
Chambovet, Gerard Mr. Gerard Chambovet is Deputy Mamnaging director and Member of the Executive Committee of CGG Veritas and is in charge of QHSE, Career Development & Training, Investor Relations, Communication & Audit. He had previously been Senior Executive Vice President, Technology, Planning & Control and Communication of CGG Veritas since January 2004. Until that time, he had been Senior Executive Vice President of Services segment since October 1998. Mr. Chambovet was Executive Vice President of Acquisition Product line from March 1995 to October 1998 and was Manager of data processing center in Massy, France from 1987 to 1995.
Wells, Timothy Mr. Timothy L. Wells is Senior Executive Vice-President in charge of corporate development and Member of the Executive Committee of CGG Veritas. Mr. Wells had previously been President and Chief Operating Officer of Veritas DGC since January 1999. In this capacity, he oversaw the Company's worldwide operations. Before this, he was President of Veritas DGC Asia Pacific, having previously served as Regional Manager of North and South American Processing, Manager of Research & Programming and various other positions for Veritas DGC in North and South America.
Rouiller, Pascal Mr. Pascal Rouiller is Executive Vice President for Equipment and Managing Director of Sercel,as well as Member of the Executive Committee of CGG Veritas. Mr. Rouiller has served as Chief Operating Officer of the Sercel Group since December 1999. He previously served as President for the Eastern Hemisphere region. Prior to that, Mr. Benoit-Cattin had been Executive Vice President of CGG's Offshore SBU since January 2005. Aguilar, Fernando Mr. Fernando Aguilar was appointed President of the Eastern Hemisphere of the global organization, effective April 1, 2008. Prior to this, he held a position of Executive Vice President for Canada Land Processing, Canada Land Library, and Western Hemisphere Land Acquisition of CGGVeritas, since joining the company in September, 2004.
Marbach, Christian Mr. Christian Marbach is Director and Member of the Strategy Committee of CGG Veritas. He is a graduate of Ecole des Mines de Paris and served as Advisor to the General Management of Suez-Lyonnaise des Eaux from 1996 to 2000. Before that time, Mr. Marbach worked as Managing Director in charge of Industry within the Minsitry for the Industry and Land Planning in 1990. He then served as Chairman and Managing Director of Coflexip and Coflexip Stena Offshore from 1991 to 1996. Mr. Marbach is also Member of the Supervisory Board of Lagardere and Internal Auditor of Sofinnova.
Appert, Olivier Mr. Olivier Appert is Director and Member of the Nominating and Remuneration Committee and Strategy Committee of CGG Veritas. He has been Chairman of the French Petroleum Institute (Institut Francais du Petrole, or IFP) since April 2003. Mr. Appert was President for Long-Term Cooperation and Energy Policy Analysis within the International Energy Agency (AIE) since October 1999. He graduated from Ecole Polytechnique and Ecole des Mines de Paris, started his career at the Mines de Lyon and has held numerous positions within the Ministry of Industry. He was then appointed Deputy Chief of Staff of the Minister of Industry and Foreign Trade from 1984 to 1986 and in 1987 he joined Telecommunications Radioelectriques et Telephoniques (TRT). In 1989, he moved back to the Ministry of Industry and in 1994 joined IFP to be in charge of research and development. From 1998, he was Managing Director of Isis. Pilenko, Thierry Mr. Thierry Pilenko is Director and Member of the Technology Committee of CGG Veritas. He graduated from Ecole Nationale Superieure de Geologie de Nancy and Ecole du Petrole et des Moteurs. He worked from 1984 to 2004 for Schlumberger, where he gained oil and gas engineering and international experience in countries throughout the world (Venezuela, Italy, Gabon, Nigeria, Dubai, Indonesia, The United States, France) working in various product lines. In March 2004, he was appointed Chairman of the Board and Managing Director of Veritas DGC, a Houston-based company who merged with Compagnie Generale de Geophysique. On January 15, 2007, he became Appointed Managing Director (Co-CEO) of Technip and was then appointed Chairman of the Board and Managing Director of the company on April 27, 2007. Mr. Pilenko also serves as Chairman of Technip Italy, Director of Hercules Offshore Inc and Permanent Representative of Technip on the Board of Directors of Technip France.
Dunand, Jean Mr. Jean Dunand is an Independent Member of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Audit Committee of CGG Veritas. He has served as Appointed Director in charge of the Russian Federation at Total Exploration Production from 1944 to 1999. He subsequently worked as Director of Financial and Legal Affairs of ISIS from 1999 to December 2001.
Semmens, Robert Mr Robert F. Semmens is an Independent Member of the Board of Directors, Chairman of the Nominating and Remuneration Committee and Member of the Strategy Committee of CGG Veritas. He is Appointed Professor of Finance at Leonard N. Stern School of Business of the New York University. In 1993, he was a co-founder of The Beacon Group, a New York City-based investment company. Prior to this, he was Vice Chairman of Goldman Sachs & Co. Mr. Semmens currently serves as Member of the Supervisory Board of Sercel Holding, Member of the Advisory Board of Mao Networks and Director of Micropharma Ltd. He holds a Masters in Management and a Juris Doctor degree from North West London University.
Valot, Daniel Mr. Daniel Valot is an Independent Member of the Board of Directors and the Audit Committee of CGG Veritas. He graduated from Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris and Ecole Nationale d’Administration, and started his career in 1970 working for the French National Audit Office. He joined Compagnie Francaise des Petroles, which became Total, in 1981 and worked successively as Appointed Director of Finance, General Secretary of Total Chemistry, Chairman of Total Petroleum North America and Managing Director of Total Exploratation/Production from 1995. He was Chairman and Managing Director of Technip from September 1999 until April 2007. Mr. Valot currently serves as Director of SCOR and Petrocanada.
Dorval, Remi Mr. Remi Droval is an Independent Member of the Board of Directors, the Nominating and Remuneration Committee and the Audit Committee of CGG Veritas. He graduated from Ecole Centrale de Paris, Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris and Ecole Nationale d’Administration. He was Head of the hydrocarbon division at the Ministry of Industry from 1979 to 1984, and Director of Treasury, Services and Monetary and Financial Affairs at the Ministry of Economy and Finance from 1984 to 1986. Between 1986 and 1990, he held successively the positions of Director of New York branch, Managing Director of Gabon-based subsidiary, and Central Director in charge of treasury, real estate portfolio and financial markets at the International Banque for Western Africa. From 1990 to 1997, he was at Soletanche as Member of the Board and Managing Director in charge of oil activities and then as Vice Chairman of the Board and Managing Director of Forasol-Foramer. Mr. Dorval has been Vice Chairman and Appointed Managing Director of Soletanche-Bachy since June 1997. He holds several other mandates, including Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Soletanche Bachy Entreprise, Chairman of Forsol and Director of Soletanche S.A., Solmarine, SHPIC, Sol-Expert International, Sepicos Perfosol, Soletanche Bachy GmbH, Bachy Soletanche Holdings and Nicholson. He is also Director, Chairman and Managing Director of SolData and Permanent Representative of Soletanche Bachy France in the economic group SB Mat.
Carroll, Loren Mr. Loren Carroll is an Independent Member of the Board of Directors and the Audit Committee of CGG Veritas. He has completed Finance and Accounting studies at the University of Pennsylvania and is also a graduate of California State University. He joined Smith International in December 1984 as Vice Chairman and Director of Finance. In January 1988, he was nominated to the position of Executive Vice Chairman and Director of Finance, a position which he held until March 1989. In 1992, he returned to Smith International as Executive Vice Chairman and Director of Finance, until he retired in April 2006. He also served as Chairman and Managing Director (CEO) of M-I Swaco LLC and as Executive Vice Chairman of Smith International Inc. He currently works as a Finance and Strategy Consultant and is also Director of Smith International Inc., Fleetwood Enterprise Inc., Forest Oil Corporation and KBR Inc.
Young, Terence Mr. Terence K. Young is an Independent Member of the Board of Directors and the Technology Committee of CGG Veritas. He is a graduate of the Colorado School of Mines and started his career working as a pilot and flight instructor for the US Navy from 1969 to 1974. Subsequently, from 1979 and 1982, he was Assistant Professor of Geophysics at the Colorado School of Mines. From 1982 to 1983, he was in charge of geophysical research at Compagnie Generale de Geophysique in Denver. From 1983 to 2000, he held various positions at Mobil Research and Development Corporation, the last one being Professor at the Institute for Statistics and its Applications of the Carnegie Mellon University. Since 2000, Mr. Young has been Dean of the Geophysical Department of the Colorado School of Mines.
Work, David Mr. David Work is an Independent Member of the Board of Directors and the Nominating and Remuneration Committee of CGG Veritas. He holds a Masters degree in Geology and joined Amoco in 1970 to work in Denver and then in Alaska. In 1992, he worked as Head of Exploration Activities in various countries for four years, as Vice President of Global Exploration for the production and exploration division of Amoco. He was then nominated to the position of Senior Vice President of divided services, and later became Corporate Vice President of Exploration and Production Activities in BP Amoco, working in London. In 2000, he retired from his position of Regional Managing Director for North America. Mr. Work currently works as a Consultant specialized in the oil industry. He also serves as Chairman of CrystaTech Inc. and Director of Edge Petroleum Corporation.
