Sirois, Charles Mr. Charles Sirois has been appointed as Chairman of the Board of Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce effective from February 26, 2009. Mr. Sirois is also Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Telesystem Ltd., a private holding company of which he is the founder and principal shareholder and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Enablis Entrepreneurial Network, a private sector-led and global non-profit organization dedicated to help bridge the digital divide by supporting entrepreneurs in developing countries who adopt Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) as a part of their growth strategy.Mr. Sirois is a director of FA Capital Corp., Gestion ID Capital Inc., Brentsi Investment Inc. and Tandem Expansion GP Inc. In 2009 Mr. Sirois co-founded the Tandem Expansion Fund, a new private sector growth equity fund.
McCaughey, Gerald Mr. Gerald T. McCaughey is President, Chief Executive Officer, Director of Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. Mr. McCaughey is President and Chief Executive Officer of CIBC, a position he has held since August 2005. Before his appointment as President and Chief Executive Officer, he was President and Chief Operating Officer of CIBC from December 2004. Williamson, J. David Mr. J. David Williamson is Chief Financial Officer, Senior Executive Vice President of Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. He was President and CEO of Atlas Cold Storage and CFO of Clarica Life Insurance, has been appointed to CIBC as Chief Financial Officer, effective January 10, 2008.Mr. Williamson, was most recently President and CEO of Atlas Cold Storage from April 2004 to November 2006. Previously, he served as Senior Vice President of Strategic Planning and Development with Canada Life Financial Corporation from October 2002 to July 2003. Mr. Williamson also served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Clarica Life Insurance Company from January 2001 to June 2002. Capatides, Michael Mr. Michael G. Capatides is Senior Executive Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer, General Counsel of Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. In this role, Mr. Capatides has overall responsibility for the Legal, Compliance, Internal Audit, Human Resources, Communications, and Public Affairs functions across CIBC. In addition, Mr. Capatides oversees CIBC's Privacy, Ombudsman, and Corporate Secretary functions. Mr. Capatides is headquartered in New York and Toronto. Mr. Capatides joined CIBC in 1996 as General Counsel and Managing Director of CIBC World Markets, with responsibility for legal and compliance matters for CIBC World Markets globally. He was appointed Executive Vice-President and General Counsel for all areas of CIBC in 1999 and Senior Executive Vice-President and General Counsel in 2007. Mr. Capatides was appointed Senior Executive Vice-President, Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel in 2008. Venn, Richard Mr. Richard E. Venn is Senior Executive Vice President - Corporate Development; Managing Director and Deputy Chairman, CIBC World Markets Inc. of Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. He is in his current role as head of Corporate Development, Mr. Venn champions a "principal investor" mindset among CIBC's leadership group. He is responsible for identifying, developing strategic initiatives and joint ventures for CIBC. These initiatives include the acquisition of Merrill Lynch Canada's retail brokerage group, the sale of CIBC's interest in Juniper Financial Corp., Global Payments Inc., Edulinx Canada Corp., and its U.S. retail brokerage operation. In addition, Mr. Venn leads strategic planning activities for CIBC. Over Mr. Venn's career, he has managed the origination, merchant banking and capital markets businesses of Wood Gundy, where he was chairman and chief executive officer of CIBC's Canadian dealer for seven years. He has been a strategic adviser to many of CIBC World Markets' clients. Mr. Venn worked on the start-up of the merchant banking businesses, the integration of the corporate and investment banking businesses, as well as the acquisition of the professional groups that developed CIBC World Markets derivatives and high yield businesses. Mr. Venn is chairman and a director of CIBC Mellon; director of FirstCaribbean International Bank Limited; and director of INTRIA Items Inc. Mr. Venn received a BA Sc. (engineering science) in 1973 at the University of Toronto. He proceeded with a scholarship to complete his MBA at Harvard in 1975.
Woods, Tom Mr. Tom D. Woods is Senior Executive Vice President, Chief Risk Officer of Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce . He has spent his entire career with Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. He joined Wood Gundy, the predecessor firm of CIBC World Markets in 1977, in the Toronto Investment Banking Department. In 1980, he moved to the Montreal Investment Banking Department and returned to Toronto Investment Banking in 1985. Throughout this time, he specialized in advising companies in raising financing in the equity and debt capital markets, and in mergers and acquisitions. In 1996, Mr. Woods was named head of Canadian Corporate Banking and in 1998 was appointed chief financial officer of CIBC World Markets. He became controller of CIBC in 1999. In 2000, Mr. Woods was appointed chief financial officer for CIBC and was promoted to senior executive vice-president in 2003. Mr. Woods is the chair of CIBC's Pension & Benefits Investment Committee, Governance & Control Committee and the Financial Affairs Committee of the Canadian Banker's Association. He serves on the boards of The Canadian Opera Co., Covenant House (Chair), De La Salle College, and Invest in Kids. Mr. Woods graduated from the University of Toronto in 1975 with a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Industrial Engineering. He earned his Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School in 1977.
Lalonde, Ron Mr. Ron A. Lalonde is Senior Executive Vice-President - Technology and Operations of Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, with overall responsibility for Human Resources, Communications and Public Affairs, and Technology and Operations. Mr. Lalonde joined CIBC in 1987 as an equities research analyst and was subsequently promoted to Director of Global Research. In 1991 he was appointed Senior Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer, Investment Bank, CIBC. Mr. Lalonde was promoted to Executive Vice-President, and Chief Operations Officer, Investment and Corporate Bank in 1993. He was reassigned as Managing Director, Europe, CIBC Wood Gundy plc in 1994 and was resident in London, England until 1998. Ron returned to Canada in 1998 to become Chief Administrative Officer of CIBC World Markets, responsible for all global technology, operations and other infrastructure functions. In September of 1998 he was then appointed Executive Vice-President, CIBC/TD Integration Office with responsibility for the proposed merger of CIBC and Toronto-Dominion Bank. Ron was appointed Chief Administrative Officer and became a member of the CIBC Executive Team in 1999. He has led the Technology and Operations groups since 2006. Baxendale, Sonia Ms. Sonia A. Baxendale is Senior Executive Vice-President of Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce and President - CIBC Retail Markets. CIBC Retail Markets provides financial services to more than nine million individual retail customers and 480,000 business banking clients in Canada, through branch banking network, as well as through electronic channels, including ABMs, telephone banking and internet banking. Previously, Ms. Baxendale was the senior executive vice-president, CIBC Wealth Management. Since joining CIBC in 1992, Ms. Baxendale played a key role in developing the strategy and direction for CIBC Wealth Management and has held various leadership roles including executive vice-president, Asset Management, Card Products and Collections, and executive vice-president of Global Private Banking & Investment Management Services. Prior to this, she was managing director, CIBC Wood Gundy. Ms. Baxendale currently chairs the Board of CIBC Securities Inc., CIBC Trust Corporation, CIBC Private Investment Counsel Inc., and CIBC Asset Management Inc., as well as being director of the Board of CIBC Trust Co. Bahamas Ltd., CIBC Bank & Trust Co. Cayman Ltd., CIBC Investor Services Inc., and CIBC Global Asset Management. Prior to joining CIBC, Ms. Baxendale held various positions with American Express Canada and Saatchi & Saatchi. Nesbitt, Richard Mr. Richard W. Nesbitt is Senior Executive Vice President - Wholesale Banking; Chairman and CEO of CIBC World Markets Inc. of Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. He is CEO of the TSX Group from 2004 to 2007, has been appointed to CIBC as CEO of CIBC World Markets, effective February 29, 2008. Richard Nesbitt, is Chief Executive Officer of TSX Group, which operates Canada's two national stock exchanges serving the senior equity and public venture capital equity markets. Mr. Nesbitt's record of accomplishments have spanned more than 20 years of experience in the securities industry, including three years as President of TSX Markets where he was responsible for the trading and market data operations of TSX Group, three years as President and Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Securities Canada, and ten years at CIBC Wood Gundy. Mr. Nesbitt graduated with a Masters of Science in Accounting and Finance from the London School of Economics and Political Science in 1986; earned an MBA from the Rotman School of Business, University of Toronto, in 1985; and earned a B.A. (Honors) in Business Administration from The University of Western Ontario in 1978.
