Name Description

Fabio Echeverri Correa

Mr. Fabio Echeverri Correa serves as Independent Chairman of the Board of Ecopetrol SA. He has been on the Company's Board since September 16, 2002. From 1957 to 1962, Mr. Echeverri worked as the President of Banco de Colombia and Banco Comercial Antioqueno. Since then, he has held various positions in the private and public sectors, serving as President of Siderurgica de Medellin, Director of ANDI (National Association of Industries), AILA (Latin American Association of Industries) and CONANDI (Andean Confederation of Industries), and as a Member of the Inter-American Council of Commerce and Production, a position that he held for over 18 years. Mr. Echeverri is currently a Member of the Board of Directors of the Shaio Clinic, Telecom-Colombia and Frigorificos Ganaderos de Colombia SA. During his career, Mr. Echeverri has been a Chairman of the Board of Directors of Fondo Ganadero de Antioquia and chairman of the board of Siemens SA, among others. He earned his degree in Economics from Gimnasio Moderno and Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano (1956). Mr. Echeverri was appointed as an independent director by the Nation. He is Chairman of the Compensation and Nomination Committee of the Company.

Javier Genaro Gutierrez Pemberthy

Mr. Javier Genaro Gutierrez Pemberthy serves as President of Ecopetrol SA. He has held this post since January 22, 2007. Prior to that, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Empresa de Interconexion Electrica SA ESP or ISA since 1992, where he started in the planning department in 1975. He also worked as Vice President of the Colombian Commission for Regional Electric Integration from 1995 to 1997. He has worked as a Professor of Statistics and Research at Universidad de los Andes and as Professor of Operational Research at Universidad EAFIT. He holds a degree in Civil Engineering from Universidad de los Andes and a Masters degree in Industrial Engineering from the same university.

Mr. Hector Manosalva Rojas has served as Executive Vice President of Exploration and Production of Ecopetrol SA since May 10, 2010. He joined Ecopetrol in 1986, where he has performed different roles, among which are Production Manager in Putumayo, Integral Responsibility Leader, Advisor to the Presidency of the Republic on Protection of the Energy Infrastructure and Manager of the Central Regional Office of the Production Vice Presidency. Mr. Manosalva is a Petroleum Engineer from Fundacion Universidad de America, specialized in Finance at Universidad EAFIT and Senior Management at Universidad de los Andes.

Mr. Pedro Alfonso Rosales Navarro serves as Executive Vice President of Downstream of Ecopetrol SA. He joined the Company in 1990. He has been on the Board of Directors of the Ecopetrol Workers Corporation (Cavipetrol), Oleoducto de Colombia SA (ODC), Oleoducto Central SA(OCENSA), and Empresa de Energia de Bogota (EEB). He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Masters of Business Administration degree from Universidad de los Andes. Mr. Mauricio Echeverry Gutierrez serves as Vice President of Legal Affairs of Ecopetrol SA. He has held this post since November 1999, when he joined the Company. Mr. Hector Castano Aristizabal serves as Vice President of Production of Ecopetrol SA. He was appointed to this post on February 18, 2011. Ms. Margarita Obregon Triana serves as General Secretary of Ecopetrol SA. She has held this post since December 1, 2008. Her working experience includes roles such as Assistant to the Agriculture Minister, Business Vice President of Fiduciaria del Estado, Land Legal Advisor for BP Exploration, Supply Assistant Manager of La Previsora insurance company. She joined Ecopetrol in 2000. She has served as Legal Advisor to the Legal Vice Presidency in the Production, Exploration, Security, Agreements, and Financial areas. Mauricio Cardenas Santamaria

Dr. Mauricio Cardenas Santamaria serves as Member of Board of Directors of Ecopetrol SA, representing Ministry of Finance and Public Credit. He has served as Executive Director of Fedesarrollo (Fundacion para la Educacion Superior y el Desarrollo) since 2003. He acted as President of Empresa de Energia de Bogota in 1993. He left this position to become the Minister of Economic Development of Colombia. He worked as Investigator and Executive Director of Fedesarrollo. In 1998, he was appointed as Minister of Transportation and later became Director of the National Planning Agency of Colombia. He was also Visiting Professor for the Center of International Development at Harvard University from March 2001 to June 2001 and he has held several positions as Researcher and Professor at various universities. Mr. Cardenas Santamaria has served as Member of the Board of Directors of various organizations, including the Latin American and Caribbean Economic Association, LACEA, Universidad de los Andes and the BVC. He received a Masters degree in Economics from Universidad de los Andes in 1987 and a degree in Economics from the same university in 1985, as well as a Doctorate in Philosophy degree in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley in 1991.

He has been Administrative Department Director of the Presidency of the Republic of Colombia. He also acted as Vice Minister and Minister of the ministries of Finance, Economic Development, and Mines and Energy of Colombia. He has also served as Executive President of the Banco de Colombia, President of Compania Financiera Internacional SA and Member of the Council of Cali (Valle del Cauca–Colombia), among others. He has participated in several Boards of Directors of the financial and public sectors. Mr. Renjifo is Member of the Board of Directors of the Autorregulador del Mercado de Valores de Colombia SA-AMV, Financiera America SA, Banasan SA, and Frutesa SA. He is also Member of the Investors' Committee of the Titularizadora Colombiana SA, and the Consejo Gremial Nacional. Dr. Roberto Ricardo Steiner Sampedro serves as Member of Board of Directors of Ecopetrol SA, representing Minority Shareholders. Dr. Steiner is the Executive Director of Fedesarrollo (Fundacion para la Educacion Superior y el Desarrollo) from 2008. He served as Alternate Executive Director of International Monetary Fund from 2002 to 2007, Director of the economics research department of Banco de la Republica from October 1989 to April 1993, Director of economic development research centre of Los Andes university, Consultant at the World Bank from 1995 to 1996, Deputy Director of Fedesarrollo from 1993 to 1994, Deputy Director of the economics research department of Banco de la Republica from 1988 to 1989, Senior Economist of Banco de la Republica from 1986 to 1988. He was Professor and Researcher at various Colombian universities including Los Andes, Javeriana and Nacional. He was Summer Professor at Columbia University of New York, 1995. He has also published economic books, treatises, articles and research papers. Dr. Steiner earned a degree in Economics from Universidad de los Andes, a Masters degree and a Doctorate in Philosophy in Economics from Columbia University of New York. In accordance with the Declaration of the Nation dated July 26, 2007, Dr. Steiner was appointed by the Nation as an independent director representing minority shareholders. He is Member of the Audit Committee, Corporate Governance and Sustainability Committee and Business Committee of the Company.

Amilcar Acosta Medina

Dr. Amilcar Acosta Medina serves as Independent Member of Board of Directors of Ecopetrol SA, representing Hydrocarbon Products Department. From 1991 to 2002, Dr. Acosta served in the Senate of Colombia and he was the President of the Congress of Colombia, from July 1997 to July 1998. From 1974 to 1988, Dr. Acosta was a Member of the Council of Rioacha and Medellin (Guajira and Antioquia-Colombia). Dr. Acosta has served as Advisor of the Contralor General of Colombia. He was also a Vice President of the Ministry of Mines and Energy of Colombia from 1997 to 1998, and has held several positions as a Researcher and Professor at various universities. Dr. Acosta has published various economic treatises, articles and research papers. Dr. Acosta earned a degree in Economics from Universidad de Antioquia. In accordance with the Declaration of the Nation dated July 26, 2007, he was appointed by the Nation as an independent director representing the hydrocarbon production departments of Colombia. He is Member of the Audit Committee, and the Compensation and Nomination Committee and Chairman of the Corporate Governance and Sustainability Committee of the Company.

Joaquin Moreno Uribe

Mr. Joaquin Moreno Uribe serves as Independent Member of Board of Directors of Ecopetrol SA. He has been on the Company's Board since March 27, 2008. Mr. Moreno worked for 33 years for the Royal Dutch/Shell Group. He held various positions such as Project Manager in Colombia, Project and Operations Manager and Marketing and Operations Manager of Shell Quimica de Venezuela, Director of Marketing for agrochemical products and Global Marketing Manager for petrochemical products at Shell Centre–Shell International Chemicals Company in London, Director of Shell Venezuela SA, Director of Shell Colombia SA and Director of Cerromatoso SA, and Strategic Planning Director for Exploration and Production in Europe and the Middle East at the Shell offices in the Netherlands. Mr. Moreno has also served as Country Chairman and President for Shell in Mexico, Colombia and Venezuela. Mr. Moreno has been a Member of various Boards of Directors of local and international companies. Mr. Moreno earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Universidad Industrial de Santander (1970) and completed a program in Advanced Management at Harvard University. He was appointed as an independent director by the Nation. He is Chairman of the Audit Committee and Member of the Corporate Governance and Sustainability Committee, Business Committee and Compensation and Nomination Committee of the Company.

Mr. Luis Carlos Villegas Echeverri serves as Independent Member of Board of Directors of Ecopetrol SA. Mr. Villegas is the President of the National Business Association of Colombia. Prior to his position as President of ANDI, he has served as the Economic Advisor to the Colombian Embassy in France, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Colombia, Governor of the Department of Risaralda, General Secretary of the Federacion Nacional de Cafeteros, and Colombian Senator. He has served as a Member of several Boards of Directors at financial and industrial companies throughout Colombia. Since 1996, he has been the President of the National Business Association of Colombia and is also President of the National Council of Private Sector Associations and a Board Member of the International Organisation of Employers. Mr. Villegas was designated Chairman of the Board of the Fund for Reconstruction and Social Development of the Eje Cafetero. Mr. Villegas received a degree in Law and Social Economics from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana and a Masters in Public Administration from Universite de Paris. He was appointed as an independent director of Board of Directors of by the Nation. He is Member of the Audit Committee and Business Committee of the Company.
