Biographies

Name Description
Heitz, Kenneth Kenneth R. Heitz is Chairman of the Board of El Paso Electric Company. Mr. Heitz is a cum laude graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles, where he was a member of 3 NCAA national championship basketball teams under Coach John Wooden and an Academic All-American. He joined the prestigious Los Angeles law firm Irell & Manella in 1972, serving as a partner from 1979 to 1988, before leaving to become Vice President and General Counsel and then Acting President and Chief Executive Officer of Columbia Savings and Loan Association from 1988 to 1990. In 1991, he reassumed his partnership position with Irell & Manella. Mr. Heitz has served on El Paso Electric's Board of Directors since 1996, and makes his home in Pacific Palisades, California. Mr. Heitz takes over the Chairmanship of the Board from George Edwards, who has been a board member since 1992, and Chairman since 1996.
Stevens, David Mr. David W. Stevens is Chief Executive Officer, Director of El Paso Electric Company., since November 17, 2008. From July 2007 to November 2008, Mr. Stevens served as founder and principal of David W. Stevens Professional Consulting Services, LLC, a consulting services company focused on business acquisition and development and regulatory consulting for energy companies throughout the continental United States. Prior to that, Mr. Stevens served as President and CEO of Cascade Natural Gas Corporation from April 2005 until July 2007. From July 2003 to December 2004, Mr. Stevens was President and COO for Panhandle Energy, a Southern Union Company subsidiary. He has served on the board of directors for the Southern Gas Association and the Intrastate Natural Gas Association of America, and was a member of the Presidents’ Council of the American Gas Association.

Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President of Operations for Commonwealth Edison (ComEd), a unit of Chicago-based Exelon Corporation. His responsibilities at ComEd included the overall coordination of operations of the electrical transmission and distribution system, distribution maintenance and construction, new business, work management and outage and emergency response. Before joining ComEd, Williams served as Vice President of Operations at Energy Nuclear South, as General Manager of Nuclear Assurance for PPL Susquehanna, as General Manager of Plant Operations for the Southern Region of Progress Energy Company, and as Director of Corporate Planning and Analysis at PECO Energy Company. Mr. Williams received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Widener University and a master of business administration degree from Saint Joseph's University. He has completed the Wharton's Executive Development Program at the University of Pennsylvania, the Leadership Development Program at the Center for Creative Leadership and Harvard University's program for senior executives. Mr. Williams is an active board member in several civic and professional organizations including the American Association of Blacks in Energy, the Association of Edison Illuminating Companies, the Executive Leadership Council, and Underwriters Laboratory.
Sanders, Gary Mr. Gary D. Sanders is Senior Vice President and General Counsel of El Paso Electric Company., since July 2008.
