Name Description
Zell, Samuel Mr. Samuel Zell has been Chairman of the Board of Equity Residential since March 1993. Mr. Zell is the Chairman of the Board and President of Equity Group Investments, L.L.C. and Chairman of the Board and CEO of Tribune. As noted above, the Tribune filed a voluntary petition to restructure its debt obligations under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code on December 8, 2008. Mr. Zell is also Chairman of the Board of ELS, Capital Trust, Inc., Anixter International Inc. and Covanta Holding Corporation.
Neithercut, David Mr. David J. Neithercut has been a Trustee and Chief Executive Officer of Equity Residential since January 1, 2006 and President of Equity Residential since May 2005. He was Executive Vice President – Corporate Strategy of the Company since January 2004. Mr. Neithercut was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the Company from February 1995 to August 2004. Mr. Neithercut is on the Board of Governors of NAREIT and the Executive Committee of the National Multifamily Housing Council. Mr. Neithercut is also a member of the Urban Land Institute.
Spector, Gerald Mr. Gerald A. Spector has been a Trustee of Equity Residential since March 1993 and Vice Chairman of the Board since January 2008. Parrell, Mark Mr. Mark J. Parrell has been Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Equity Residential since October 2007. Mr. Parrell was Senior Vice President and Treasurer of the Company from August 2005 to October 2007, and was First Vice President – Capital Markets of the Company from February 2003 to July 2005.
Tuomi, Frederick Mr. Frederick C. Tuomi has been President – Property Management of Equity Residential since March 2005. Mr. Tuomi has been Executive Vice President of the Company since January 1994 and served as President – Western Division from April 1999 to March 2005.

Santee, David Mr. David Santee has been Executive Vice President – Operations of Equity Residential since January 2007. Mr. Santee served as the Company’s Executive Vice President – Eastern Division from November 1996 to December 2006.
Neal, John Mr. John E. Neal, has been a Trustee of Equity Residential since July 1, 2006. Mr. Neal is a partner of Linden LLC, a private equity firm, and serves as a trustee of the Calamos Mutual Funds. Mr. Neal led Bank One's real estate lending and corporate banking businesses until the company was merged with JP Morgan Chase. Prior to Bank One, Mr. Neal led the real estate lending businesses at Kemper Financial Services and Continental Bank.
Alexander, John Mr. John W. Alexander, has been a Trustee of Equity Residential since May 1993 and is the President of Mallard Creek Capital Partners, Inc., an investment company with interests in real estate, development entities and operating companies. He is also a partner of Meringoff Equities, a real estate investment and development company.
Rosenberg, Sheli Ms. Sheli Z. Rosenberg has been a Trustee of the Company since March 1993 and served as Lead Trustee from December 2002 until February 2009. Ms. Rosenberg is the co-founder and former President of Northwestern University’s Center for Executive Women at the Kellogg School of Management. Knox, Boone Mr. Boone A. Knox has been a Trustee of Equity Residential since the merger of Merry Land & Investment Company, Inc., of which he served as Chairman, into the Company in October 1998. Mr. Knox is the Managing Partner of Knox, Ltd. and the Managing Trustee of the Knox Foundation. Mr. Knox is a director of Cousins Properties, Incorporated.
Atwood, Charles Mr. Charles L. Atwood, has been a Trustee of Equity Residential since July 2003. Mr. Atwood is Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Harrah’s Entertainment, Inc., a private gaming and hospitality company, and was Vice Chairman of its public predecessor company until its sale in January 2008. Mr. Atwood served as Harrah’s Chief Financial Officer from 2001 to 2006.
Bynoe, Linda Ms. Linda Walker Bynoe has been appointed as Trustee of Equity Residential effective December 16, 2009. She is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Telemat Ltd, a privately-held project management and consulting firm based in Chicago, Illinois. In this role she advises clients in numerous industry sectors on strategic planning, capital restructuring and financial reporting. Ms. Bynoe serves as a director of The Northern Trust Corporation (NASDAQ: NTRS); Simon Property Group (NYSE: SPG); Anixter Inc. (NYSE: AXE); Fidelity Life Association and Prudential Retail Mutual Funds. She holds a B.S. from Northeastern University and an M.B.A. from the Harvard University Graduate School of Business.
Shapiro, Mark Mr. Mark Shapiro is the Independent Trustee of Equity Residential. He is the Chief Executive Officer of Six Flags, Inc. (OTC BB: SIXFQ.OB), the world's regional theme park company. Prior to joining Six Flags in 2005, Mr. Shapiro spent 12 years at ESPN where he bore responsibility for many of the sports and entertainment properties that built the television network into one of the world's strongest multimedia brands. He serves as a director of Live Nation (NYSE: LYV) and the Tribune Company. Mr. Shapiro holds a B.A. from the University of Iowa.
