Smith, Richard Mr. Richard H. Smith is Chairman of the Board, President, Chief Executive Officer of First Mercury Financial Corporation. He has served as the President and Chief Executive Officer since 2005. Mr. Smith became the Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer in November 2006. He joined the Company as its President and Chief Operating Officer in 1996. Mr. Smith began his insurance career with Providian Corporation in 1975 and held various financial positions before becoming Chief Financial Officer of Providian Direct Insurance in 1989 and President and Chief Operating Officer of Providian Direct Auto Insurance in 1993. Mr. Smith has served as a member of the Board of Directors since 1996.
Shaw, Jerome Mr. Jerome M. Shaw has served as Director of First Mercury Financial Corporation., since 1973. In March 2007, he was given the title Chairman Emeritus of the Company. From 1973 to 2005, he was the Chief Executive Officer. He is the founder of the Company. Mr. Shaw entered the insurance business in 1967 and formed CoverX in 1973.

Pickard, Bradley Mr. Bradley J. Pickard is the Director of First Mercury Financial Corporation since May 13, 2009. He has extensive experience in the investment banking and private equity industries. Mr. Pickard is currently a partner at Access Value Investors (“AVI”), a private equity fund focused on buying distressed, domestic, middle market companies across a variety of industries. Prior to joining AVI, Mr. Pickard was a partner at Blue Diamond Capital, an investment firm focused on investments in secured bank loans of distressed, asset intensive companies. Mr. Pickard has also served as a Managing Director at both Houlihan Lokey Howard & Zukin and at Wasserstein Perella & Co., where his practice focused on mergers and acquisitions of public and private industrial and consumer products companies.
