Name Description

Joel Hawthorne

Mr. Joel L. Hawthorne is President, Chief Executive Officer, Director of GrafTech International Ltd. Mr. Hawthorne became GrafTech's CEO & President in January 2014. He joined the company as Director of Investor Relations in August 1999. In January 2001, he was appointed Director of Electrode Sales & Marketing, Americas and, in October 2005, he was appointed Director Worldwide Marketing and Americas Sales. In January 2009 he was appointed Vice President, Global Marketing & Sales for the Industrial Materials line of business. In March 2011, Mr. Hawthorne was promoted to President, Engineered Solutions. Prior to joining GrafTech, Mr. Hawthorne served as Director of Investor and Public Relations for ACME Metals Inc. and as Manager of Investor Relations for LTV Corporation. He also held various treasury, finance and audit positions at LTV and with the State of Ohio. Mr. Hawthorne has a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and a Master of Science degree in Business/Technical Education. Both degrees were earned at the University of Akron.

Erick Asmussen

Mr. Erick R. Asmussen has been appointed as Chief Financial Officer, Vice President of GrafTech International Ltd., with effect from September 11, 2013. In this role, he oversees finance, investor relations, IT, tax, and treasury for the company. He has over 20 years of corporate finance, treasury, accounting, planning and analysis, tax and corporate development experience. Since joining GrafTech in 1999 as Tax Director, he has also served as GrafTech’s Worldwide Controller and Treasurer & Director of Finance. He became Vice President of Strategy, Planning and Corporate Development in May 2005. Prior to joining GrafTech, Mr. Asmussen served as Director of Tax Planning for Corning Incorporated, Tax Manager for AT&T Corporation, and Senior Tax Consultant for Arthur Andersen LLP. Mr. Asmussen holds a Master of Science in Taxation from State University of New York at Albany and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Rochester Institute of Technology.

Lionel Batty

Mr. Lionel D. Batty has been appointed as President - Engineered Solutions of GrafTech International Ltd. Prior to this he was President of its Graphite Electrodes business, and from 1999 to 2011 he was Vice President of Corporate Research and Development. He has been located at the company’s headquarters in Parma, Ohio, since 1999. From 1997 to 1998 he was Applied Technology Manager - Europe for GrafTech’s electrode business, and from 1994 to 1996 he held a similar position for its specialty graphite business, both located in France. Mr. Batty began his career with GrafTech as a development engineer in 1983 at Parma, Ohio, and has held various technical and managerial positions at GrafTech locations in Clarksville, Tennessee; Sheffield, England; Notre Dame de Briançon, France; and Paris, France. He holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College, London, and has a MBA from Sheffield Hallam University (formerly Sheffield Polytechnic), England. Mr. Batty is active in the new business development community and holds, or has recently held, these external positions: Chair of the Wright Center for Sensor Systems Engineering; Chair of Board of Directors of the Ohio Fuel Cell Coalition; Nano Network Advisory Board; Board of Trustees of the National Composite Center; President of Carbon/Graphite section of NEMA (North American Electrical Manufacturers’ Association); and Member of EWI Industrial Advisory Board.

John Moran

Mr. John D. Moran is Vice President, General Counsel, Secretary of GrafTech International Ltd. His primary responsibilities include counseling GrafTech on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and commercial and transactional matters, as well as overseeing the legal and corporate secretary functions. He joined GrafTech in May 2006 as Deputy General Counsel. From December 1996 to April 2006, Mr. Moran was employed by Corrpro Companies, Inc., a leading publicly traded provider of corrosion control engineering services, systems and equipment to the infrastructure, environmental and energy markets around the world. At Corrpro, he served as General Counsel, Senior Vice President & Secretary, managed the legal function, and oversaw the risk management, human resources and safety functions. From January 1987 to December 1996, he was employed as In-House Counsel and Corporate Secretary for Sealy Corporation and managed the legal function for one of the world’s largest bedding and sleep products manufacturer. He began his career in 1984 as a tax accountant with Grant Thornton and became a certified public accountant in 1986. He is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association. He serves as Trustee/Treasurer of NEO Association of Corporate Counsel and is a volunteer for 3R’s, Junior Achievement, Legal Aid Society of Cleveland, and Reach Out Legal Assistance for Nonprofits. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1980 and Juris Doctorate in 1983 from Cleveland State University.

Pieter Barnard

Mr. Pieter J. Barnard is Vice President, President - Industrial Materials of GrafTech International Ltd. Mr. Barnard is President, Industrial Materials. GrafTech’s Industrial Materials business manufacturers a broad range of high quality graphite electrodes, products essential to the production of electric arc furnace steel and various other ferrous and nonferrous metals. The Industrial Materials business also manufactures carbon, graphite and semi-graphite refractory products, which protect the walls of blast furnaces and submerged arc furnaces. Mr. Barnard joined GrafTech in 1972 and has served in various positions of increasing responsibility. He is a graduate of University of Potchefstroom – South Africa with a B.S. Sciences degree (cum laude) and an MBA, and received his PhD from Rand Afrikaans University.

Thomas Danjczek

Mr. Thomas A. Danjczek is Director of GrafTech International Ltd. Mr. Danjczek has served as Senior Advisor for the Steel Manufacturers Association (SMA) since November 2013. From February 1998 to November 2013, Mr. Danjczek served as President of the SMA and functioned as its Chief Executive, Operating, and Administrative Officer and a member of the Board and Executive Committee. Prior to joining SMA, Mr. Danjczek held various leadership positions at a number of public companies, including Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation, Bethlehem Steel Corporation and Kaiser Steel Corporation. Mr. Danjczek also serves as Vice Chairman of the U.S. Industry Trade Advisory Committee (ITAC 12) and since 1999 has been an Advisor to the U.S. Trade Representative and Department of Commerce. Mr. Danjczek also serves on the Board of Walker Magnetics, a privately held controls manufacturer that services the scrap and steel industries and on the advisory board of Byer Steel Group, a privately held steel service center. Mr. Danjczek earned a B.S. from Villanova University and a Master’s in Industrial Management from Purdue University.

Karen Finerman

Ms. Karen L. Finerman is Director of GrafTech International Ltd. Ms. Finerman is the Chief Executive Officer of Metropolitan Capital Advisors, LP, a New York-based hedge fund that she co-founded in 1992. Prior to this, Ms. Finerman was Lead Research Analyst at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette Securities Corporation. Since 2007, Ms. Finerman has also appeared regularly as a panelist on CNBC’s “Fast Money,” a television program that discusses investment strategies. In 2013, Ms. Finerman published “Finerman’s Rules: Secrets I’d Only Tell My Daughters About Business and Life. Ms. Finerman is a Trustee of the Montefiore Medical Center and a Board member of the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. Ms. Finerman holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania.

David Jardini

Mr. David R. Jardini is Director of GrafTech International Ltd. Since April 2013, Mr. Jardini has served as the Chairman of Black Diamond Investments LP, a diversified family investment partnership that is focused on the manufacturing and real estate industries. Mr. Jardini has served as Chairman of West Salisbury Foundry and Machine Co., Inc., a foundry, since 2012, as President of American Gas Lamp Works LLC, a manufacturing business, since 2012 and as Managing Member of JCG Development, a real estate development business, since 2010. Mr. Jardini was the co-founder and President of C/G Electrodes, LLC, one of the world’s leading producers of graphite electrodes, from May 2003 until it was acquired by GrafTech in 2010. Mr. Jardini has been a member of the Board of Directors of Robroy Industries, Inc., a manufacturer of electrical and oil field products, since August 2011. Mr. Jardini holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Swarthmore College and a Ph. D in History of Science & Technology from Carnegie Mellon University.

Nathan Milikowsky

Mr. Nathan Milikowsky is Director of GrafTech International Ltd. Mr. Milikowsky rejoined GrafTech’s Board of Directors in May 2014. Previously he had served on the Board of Directors for three years after the Seadrift Coke and C/G Electrodes LLC mergers closed in November 2010. Mr. Milikowsky founded C/G in 2003 by leading the group that purchased the closed St. Marys, Pennsylvania plant of the bankrupt predecessor and restarting the production of UHP Graphite Electrodes. He was C/G’s CEO/Chairman and then Chairman until its merger with GrafTech in 2010. In 2005, Mr. Milikowsky led the group that purchased Seadrift Coke L.P. and was also its President until its merger with GrafTech in 2010. Mr. Milikowsky serves as the Chairman of PS Investments LLC, a limited liability company whose primary business is managing investments and Premia Spine, Ltd., a company primarily engaged in the production of a medical device designed to treat spinal stenosis. Further, Mr. Milikowsky has served as the Managing Member of Jordanmill Ventures, LLC, a personal business venture, since 2010. Mr. Milikowsky is a graduate of Yale University and was a John Norton Pomeroy Scholar at New York University School of Law.

M. Catherine Morris

Ms. M. Catherine Morris is Director of GrafTech International Ltd. Ms. Morris is the Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer for Arrow Electronics, Inc., a leading global distributor of electronic components and computer products with more than $21 billion in revenues. Ms. Morris has served in this position since 2008 and leads strategic initiatives for Arrow, including global merger and acquisition activity. Ms. Morris has over 25 years of experience in computer products and electronic components distribution and has held a number of senior leadership roles at Arrow, including President of Arrow’s Enterprise Computing Solutions (ECS) business segment, Vice President of Support Services in North America, Vice President of Finance and Support Services for Arrow ECS, and Vice President of Corporate Development. Ms. Morris has been recognized with numerous awards, including VARBusiness (2007) and CRN (2009) magazines naming her as one of the most powerful women in the technology channel and Top 100 Women. A member of YWCA’s Society of Women Achievers, Ms. Morris received her Bachelor’s degree in finance from Colorado State University and completed Harvard Business School’s General Management Program.

Randolph Carson

Mr. Randolph W. Carson is Independent Director of GrafTech International Ltd. Mr. Carson served as Chief Executive Officer of the Electrical Group of Eaton Corporation (NYSE: ETN), a global diversified industrial manufacturer with 2008 sales of $15.4 billion. Eaton’s Electrical Group is a global technology leader in electrical components and systems for power quality, distribution and control. Mr. Carson was instrumental in growing the Electrical Group from $2.2 billion in 1999 to $6.9 billion in 2008 through aggressive organic growth and significant acquisitions. In his ten year tenure, Mr. Carson was involved in numerous acquisitions, increasing Eaton’s presence outside of North America and establishing a strong global footprint. Mr. Carson was also a key LEAN proponent, enabling operating margin expansion and increased cash flow from operations at Eaton. Prior to joining Eaton in February 1999, Mr. Carson had a twenty-six year career with Rockwell Corporation in which he was responsible for many of the Company’s automation businesses. Mr. Carson also serves on the Board of Directors for Fairchild Semiconductor International, Inc., Nordson Corporation and Southwire Company, one of the world’s largest cable and wire manufacturers. Mr. Carson received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Valparaiso University.
