Biographies

Name Description

Avinash Shah

 Mr. Avinash Shah is Chairman of the Board, Chief Executive Officer of Homeland Energy Group Ltd. He is an Executive Vice President in GMR Energy. He joined GMR in July 2006 as Vice President – Hydro Business and subsequently headed Thermal Business Development and the implementation of 1370 MW power project in Central India. He is a qualified chemical engineer from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi and holds a post graduate diploma in management from Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta. He has years of experience in project finance and business development. Prior to joining GMR, he was working with IBM as Asia Pacific Manager.

Ajay Gupta

 Mr. Ajay Gupta is Chief Financial Officer of Homeland Energy Group Ltd., since July 13, 2010. Mr. Gupta is a Canadian Chartered Accountant, as well as a USA designated Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and Certified Public Accountant (CPA). He is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (FCA). Mr. Gupta has 20 years of finance and accounting experience, including 12 years of international experience in the field of corporate finance, financial reporting, corporate governance and risk management. Mr. Gupta has worked with international and Canadian publicly traded companies. Most recently he was CFO of African Aura Resources Ltd. and Scandinavian Minerals Limited which recently merged with First Quantum Minerals Ltd. He has worked with Deloitte & Touché LLP, DuPont Canada, Samara Group and companies in the Middle East and public companies in India.

Hentie Hoffmann

 Mr. Hentie Hoffmann is Chief Operating Officer of Homeland Energy Group Ltd., since January 18, 2010. Mr. Hoffmann is a South African coal mining industry for 23 years. He holds a Bachelors degree in Mining Engineering, Coal mining certifications and obtained his MBA in 2005 from the Henley Management College in South Africa. He steadily throughout his career, holding the responsibility of Mine Captain from 1992 to 1996 with BHP Billiton (previously Ingwe). From 1996 to 2006 he worked with the Xstrata organization within their coal business as Mine Manager and eventually General Manager at their Tweefontein Complex. In 2007 Mr. Hoffmann joined the Shanduka Coal Company in South Africa as its Chief Operating Officer. The Shanduka operations are based in the Middelburg and Kendal areas, of which one of their mines is adjacent to Kendal operation and, consequently, Mr. Hoffmann brings a familiarity to the operating environment in this part of the Witbank coal field which greatly assists the Company. Mr. Hoffmann is a member of the South African Coal Mine Managers association where he has served as both member and council member as well as being a member of the South African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and is registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa.

Kathleen Skerrett

 Ms. Kathleen E. Skerrett is Corporate Secretary of Homeland Energy Group Ltd., since May 2008. Ms. Skerrett is a partner with Gardiner Roberts LLP. She has been practicing in the fields of corporate and securities law since being called to the bar in the Province of Ontario in 1996.

Michael Garvey

 Mr. Michael Garvey is Lead Independent Director of Homeland Energy Group Ltd. Mr. Garvey is a chartered accountant and was with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP from 1969 until his retirement in July 2006, including as an audit partner from 1982. He received his B.A. (Honours Economics) from the University of Waterloo in 1969 and his C.A. designation from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario in 1972.

Ashis Basu

 Mr. Ashis Basu is Director of Homeland Energy Group Ltd. Mr. Basu was the Executive Vice President of GMR Energy Limited. Mr. Basu is a commerce graduate and a Chartered Accountant. Prior to joining GMR Group in 2001, Mr. Basu was working for RPG Group, a diversified industrial group in India (last position held was that of Chief Manager – Finance) for 17 years. During career, Mr. Basu been in financial and accounting aspects of running a private utility, has had key roles in the development and financing of a captive coal mine, negotiation and implementation of high value construction contracts, operation and maintenance of such contracts for power projects with domestic and international suppliers, project financing involving multilateral agencies, export credit agencies, financial institutions, negotiation of value contracts for mine development and operation, setting up joint ventures and all related commercial areas.

Bhaskar Rao

 Mr. Bhaskar Rao is Director of Homeland Energy Group Ltd., since16 February 2012. Mr. Rao is a Chartered Accountant located in India and has been a CPA in the USA. He has 20 years experience as a professional and as an entrepreneur. Since May of 2011 Mr. Rao has been the CFO – Energy Sector at GMR Group. Prior to that, he was CFO – Corporate and CFO – International Business in GMR. Before joining GMR, Mr. Rao was an entrepreneur and founded a 50-store “SMART” branded retail chain employing 800 people between 2004 and 2008, with revenues of Rs. 80 crore, which he has divested. Prior to this he has worked in various key positions in GMR Group, Rashideen International – Dubai / Turkey, Nasco Nasreddin Holding A.S., Turkey, the UB Group and B K Birla Group.

Neena Gupta

 Ms. Neena Gupta is an Independent Director of Homeland Energy Group Ltd., since June 29, 2010. Ms. Gupta is partner with Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP based in their Waterloo region office. Ms. Gupta’s practice focuses on employment and human rights litigation. Ms. Gupta received her LL.B. from Queens University and was called to the bar in 1989. She went on to complete her LL.M from the University of Toronto in 1993.

Edwin Lee

 Mr. Edwin Lee is an Independent Director of Homeland Energy Group Ltd., since July 14, 2009. Mr. Lee is a Managing Director of NVS Bancorp, an international merchant bank with offices in Toronto, London, Dubai, and Hong Kong. He is a Director of several investment vehicles branded Phoenician Family of Funds. He serves on the Board of Directors of several publicly traded companies, listed on North American and European exchanges, and is a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.
