Name Description
Fuller, Lynn Lynn B. Fuller serves as Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Heartland Financial USA Inc. He has been a Director of Heartland and of Dubuque Bank and Trust Company since 1984 and has been President of Heartland since 1987. Until 2004, Mr. Fuller had been a Director of Galena State Bank & Trust Co. since its acquisition by Heartland in 1992, First Community Bank since the merger in 1994 and Riverside Community Bank since the opening of this de novo operation in 1995. He has been a Director of Wisconsin Community Bank since the purchase of Cottage Grove State Bank in 1997, New Mexico Bank & Trust since the opening of this de novo bank in 1998, Arizona Bank & Trust since the opening of this de novo bank in 2003, Summit Bank & Trust since the opening of this de novo bank in 2006 and Minnesota Bank & Trust since the opening of this de novo bank in 2008. Mr. Fuller joined Dubuque Bank and Trust Company in 1971 as a consumer loan officer and was named Dubuque Bank and Trust Company's Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer in 1985. Mr. Fuller was President of Dubuque Bank and Trust Company from 1987 until 1999 at which time he was named Chief Executive Officer of Heartland. Director (2008-present) and Vice Chairman of the Board (2008-present) of Minnesota Bank & Trust.
Falb, Mark Mark C. Falb is a Vice Chairman of the Board of Heartland Financial USA, Inc. Mr. Falb is a graduate of the University of Iowa and an inactive holder of the certified public accountant certification. Mr. Falb was employed in an executive role with the Wm. C. Brown Company Publishers for nearly 20 years until a majority of the company was sold in 1992. He currently serves as chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Westmark Enterprises, Inc. and Kendall/Hunt Publishing Company, which are primarily involved in real estate ventures and textbook publishing.
Flynn, Thomas Thomas L. Flynn is Vice Chairman of the Board (2003-present) of Heartland. He obtained a BA degree in accounting and finance from Loras College and an MBA Degree from the University of Dubuque. Mr. Flynn was elected to the Iowa State Senate in 1994, where he served two full terms. During his terms he served on various committees, including the Senate Appropriations Committee; Administration and Regulation Budget Subcommittee; Commerce, Ways and Means Committee; and the Small Business, Economic Development & Tourism Committee. Mr. Flynn is the owner of a concrete and construction materials firm with locations in Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin. He also previously served for ten years as an adjunct faculty member in the business department at Clarke College in Dubuque, Iowa.
Schmidt, John John K. Schmidt serves as Director, Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Heartland Financial USA, Inc. He has been a Director of Heartland since 2001. Mr. Schmidt has been Heartland's Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer since 1991 and Chief Operating Officer since 2004. Miller, Melvin Mr. Melvin E. Miller was named Executive Vice President, Chief Investment Officer, of Heartland, in 2008. Prior to this promotion, he served as Senior Vice President, Chief Investment Officer, of Heartland since 2000. He joined Dubuque Bank and Trust in 1984 as a part-time Investment Officer and came on board full time in 1985 as Assistant Vice President and later was promoted to Senior Vice President and Chief Investment Officer. A Chartered Financial Analyst, Miller received his MBA degree in Finance from Ball State University in 1973. Prior to joining DB&T Mel had 12 years of college teaching experience in the areas of investments and portfolio management. He was chair of the Department of Accounting and Business at Loras College.
Berg, John Mr. John J. Berg was promoted to Executive Vice President, Marketing and Sales of Heartland Financial USA, Inc. in 2008. Hejoined Heartland in 2005 as Senior Vice President, Marketing and Sales. Mr. Berg’s background includes over 30 years of retail marketing and banking experience. Previous to joining Heartland, Berg served as Vice President and Marketing Director of First Federal Capital Bank in LaCrosse, WI. His prior experience includes marketing management positions with commercial banks and savings banks in West Des Moines, IA, St. Louis, MO, Waterloo, IA and Lansing, MI.
Walter, Frank Mr. Frank Walter is Executive Vice President - Commercial Sales of Heartland Financial USA, Inc. Mr. Walter will be responsible for managing all of Heartland Financial's commercial sales development activities, including training and mentoring commercial bankers, business development officers and cash management sales personnel. In that effort, he will lead new loan and deposit acquisition programs in commercial lending, working closely with bank presidents across the Heartland footprint. Mr. Walter brings extensive experience in overseeing and directing commercial sales. Most recently, he served as Rockford (Ill.) regional president at JP Morgan Chase. He has also served as chief executive officer of Bank One/Rockford; chief executive officer of Bank One Chicago; and 16 years in various positions at Wells Fargo. Active in community organizations, Walter serves as vice chairman of the Swedish American Health System; a trustee of the Rockford Health Council; a trustee of Rockford College where he chairs the Enrollment Management Committee; a board member of the Rockford Golden Apple that recognizes and awards teachers of excellence; and is a member of the Rockford Area Economic Development Council's Board of Directors.
Erickson, Kenneth Mr. Kenneth J. Erickson serves as Executive Vice President, Chief Credit Officer of Heartland Financial USA, Inc in 1999. Mr. Erickson has been employed by Dubuque Bank and Trust Company since 1975, and was appointed Vice President, Commercial Loans in 1985, Senior Vice President, Lending in 1989 and Executive Vice President in 2000. Keim, David Mr. David Keim is Senior Vice President, Chief Risk Officer of Heartland Financial USA, Inc. Mr. Keim has spent the past 22 years at Susquehanna Bancshares, a $13-billion bank holding company in Pennsylvania. For five of those years, he was its chief risk officer. He has led several divisions within the organization, including risk management, loan review, credit oversight, compliance, audit and corporate insurance. Mr. Keim was Susquehanna's chief credit officer as well as its director of corporate loan review and president of the company's commercial small ticket leasing company.
