Kundapur Kamath |
Mr. Kundapur Vaman Kamath is an Independent Chairman of the Board of Infosys Limited, since August 21, 2011. He is non-executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of ICICI Bank Limited, India's second bank. He started his career in 1971 at ICICI, an Indian financial institution that founded ICICI Bank and merged with it in 2002. In 1988, he moved to the Asian Development Bank and spent several years in South-east Asia before returning to ICICI as its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer in 1996. He retired as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ICICI Bank Limited in April 2009. Mr. Kamath serves as a director on the boards of ICICI Bank Limited and Schlumberger Limited. Mr. Kamath was awarded the Padma Bhushan, one of India’s highest civilian honors, in 2008. He has been conferred with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the NDTV Profit Business Leadership Awards 2008 and was named Forbes Asia’s 'Businessman of the Year' and The Economic Times ‘Business Leader of the Year' in 2007; Business Standard's 'Banker of the Year' and CNBC-TV18's Business Leader of the Year’ in 2006; Business India's 'Businessman of the Year' in 2005; and CNBC's 'Asian Business Leader of the Year' in 2001. He was conferred with an honorary Ph.D. by the Banaras Hindu University. Mr. Kamath has served as the president of the Confederation of Indian Industry between 2008 and 2009. Mr. S. Gopalakrishnan is an Executive Co-Chairman of the Board of Infosys Limited, since August 21, 2011. He is one of the founders of Infosys Limited. As the Executive Co-Chairman, he is responsible for working with the Chief Executive Officer to maintain channels of communication between the Company’s management and the Board, and to ensure that the Board receives all appropriate information in a timely manner. In 1981, Mr. Gopalakrishnan, along with N.R. Narayana Murthy and five others, founded Infosys Limited. His initial responsibilities included the management of design, development, implementation, and support of information systems for clients in the consumer products industry in the U.S. Between 1987 and 1994, Mr. Gopalakrishnan headed the technical operations of KSA/Infosys (a joint venture between Infosys and KSA at Atlanta, U.S.) as Vice President (Technical). In 1994, Mr. Gopalakrishnan returned to India and was appointed Deputy Managing Director of Infosys. On June 22, 2007, Mr. Gopalakrishnan was appointed the CEO and Managing Director of Infosys. Mr. Gopalakrishnan served as the Chief Operating Officer (April 2002), and as the President and Joint Managing Director (August 2006). He is the President designate of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) National Council and on the Board of Governors at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bangalore. He is the Chairman of Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management (IIITM), Kerala. He is a member of ACM, IEEE and IEEE Computer Society. Dr. Omkar Goswami is an Independent Director of Infosys Limited, since November 2000. Dr. Goswami is the founder and chairman of CERG Advisory Private Limited. Mr. Jeffrey Sean Lehman is an Independent Director of Infosys Limited, since April 2006. Mr. Deepak M. Satwalekar is an Independent Director of Infosys Limited. He has served as one of the directors on the Board since October 1997. Mr. Satwalekar served as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of HDFC Standard Life Insurance Company Limited between 2000 and 2008. Prior to that, he served as the Managing Director of HDFC between 1993 and 2000. Mr. Ramaswamy Seshasayee is an Independent Director of Infosys Ltd., since January 2011. He is Executive Vice Chairman of Ashok Leyland Limited. He was the Managing Director of Ashok Leyland since 1998 through March 2011, its transformation into a globally competitive technology leader seeking growth through globalization and diversification, via global acquisitions and joint ventures with Nissan Motor Company, John Deere, Continental AG and the Alteams Group, to name a few. Prior to joining Microsoft, Mr. Venkatesan worked for 17 years with Cummins Inc., the leader in engines and related technologies. Mr. Venkatesan is a member of the Board of Directors of AB Volvo and a member of the Advisory Boards of Harvard Business School and Bunge Inc. Mr. Venkatesan received a B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, an M.S. in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University and an MBA from Harvard University, where he was a Baker Scholar. Mr. Venkatesan was awarded the Purdue University Industrial Engineer award in 2000 and the Distinguished Alumnus award by the Indian Institute of Technology in 2003. |
