Biographies

Name Description

Alex Brabers

Mr. Alex Brabers has served as Chairman of the Supervisory Board at Inside Secure SA. He is GIMV's Executive Vice President for Venture Capital and is responsible for the Belgian firm's investments in the fields of IT and communications. With more than 15 years of experience in the venture capital industry, he brings invaluable knowledge of growth capital financing to INSIGHT. He has been involved in the sales or initial public offerings of numerous companies. Mr. Brabers is a Director of Telenet (Euronext Brussels symbol: TNET) and Language & Computing. He also previously sat on the board of Option International, Barconet, Telos, Emme and Mobistar. Prior to signing on with GIMV in 1990, he worked in banking, initially as a trader in international money market instruments, then as a strategic planner. He has a Master's degree in economics from Louvain University.

Remy de Tonnac

Mr. Remy de Tonnac has served as the Chairman of the Management Board of Inside Secure SA since 2006. Prior to that, he was a Venture Partner at Vertex Venture Capital in London. He represented Vertex within numerous technology companies in the firm's portfolio and served as Chairman of the Supervisory Board from 2002 to 2006. Previous to that, Mr. de Tonnac fulfilled several management roles at Gemplus, having joined the smart card provider at its formation in 1987. He initially oversaw sales and marketing operations in France, before becoming Chief Executive Officer for the Asia-Pacific region from 1992 to 1999, a position that was based in Singapore. He then moved to San Francisco to fulfill the same function for the Americas region. He was also a member of the Gemplus group's executive committee from 1995 to 2001. He began his career as a technical sales engineer at Compagnie Generale des Eaux (French water company) in 1982, before moving to Thomson Semiconducteurs (which became SGS-Thomson and is now known as STMicroelectronics), where he performed various manufacturing, planning and marketing-related duties. He is a graduate of Lille's Ecole centrale and holds a degree in economics from Lille University.

Pascal Didier

Mr. Pascal Didier has served as Member of the Management Board, Chief Executive Officer and Corporate Secretary of Inside Secure SA. He joined the Company in 2003. From 1988 to 2002, he worked for Gemplus, where he fulfilled the role of Vice President for E-Solutions from 2000 to 2002. Involved with Gemplus from its formation onwards, he was part of the management team that set up the firm's North American subsidiary. He went on to occupy various sales and marketing positions within the firm, including Director of Sales Operations, as well as being a member of the executive committee and of the supervisory board (representing employee shareholders). He began his career as a designer of integrated circuits and a technical support engineer at Philips Components in France and in the United States, before moving to Thomson Semiconducteurs (which became SGS Thomson and is now STMicroelectronics) to manage smart card marketing in its memory division. He is a graduate of two Parisian institutions, the Ecole polytechnique and the Ecole nationale superieure des telecommunications.

Jean Schmitt

Mr. Jean Schmitt has served as Vice Chairman of the Supervisory Board at Inside Secure SA. He is Managing Director of Joltech Capital. Before setting up Joltech Capital Jean Schmitt spent 10 years with Sofinnova Parners as associate where he led the investment team in the IT sector. Mr. Schmitt is the founder of SLP Infoware, which he sold to Gemplus in 2000. At that time he was President-CEO of SLP Infoware and also Vice President of Telecom Solutions and Applications at Gemplus. Mr. Schmitt created and sold three other companies before founding SLP Infoware. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Accent, Inside Secure and AuthenTec. Mr. Schmitt is a graduate from the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Telecommunications (ENST) and holds a post-graduate diploma in Artificial Intelligence. Since 2005 he has held the position of Senior Lecturer at Paris Telecom.

Richard Vacher Detourniere

Mr. Richard Vacher Detourniere has served as Chief Financial Officer and Member of the Management Board at Inside Secure SA. Prior to that he served as a partner at Siparex. He joined Siparex in 1994, and was involved in more than 25 financing transactions, including leveraged buy-outs, growth capital investments and investments in young companies. He went on to serve as a partner in the information technology sector. Following that, he helped to run SBV Venture Partners in California's Silicon Valley, a venture capital firm co-managed by Siparex. He was Siparex's permanent representative on the boards of thirteen of its portfolio companies, including Nanolase (sold to JDS Uniphase), SoiSic (sold to ARM), Leguide.com (listed on NYSE Alternext Paris), EVE (specializing in hardware/software co-verification) and INSIDE. He also served on the audit committees of many of these companies. He started off his business career in 1990 as a consultant at Price Waterhouse, concentrating on auditing and transaction support services, first in France, then in Central Europe. He is a graduate of the Ecole superieure de commerce in Amiens, holds a Master's degree in accountancy and finance.

Pierre Garnier

Mr. Pierre Garnier has been a Member of the Management Board, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President in charge of the Mobile NFC Division of Inside Secure SA since August 20, 2012. Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Garnier was vice president and general manager at Texas Instruments (TI), where he was in charge of the worldwide baseband business and worldwide wireless strategic programs. At TI, he also managed equity investment and acquisition activities within the wireless ecosystem. Prior to TI, he was chairman and CEO of Everbee Networks, a company developing systems-on-chips for personal Internet security devices. Before that, Mr. Garnier was general manager of the Alcatel Microelectronics broadband Access Business, which he founded and was acquired by STMicroelectronics in 2002.

Simon Blake-Wilson

Dr. Simon Blake-Wilson has been Executive Vice President - Mobile Security Division and Chief Sales Officer of Inside Secure SA since October 2013. Prior to this, he held the function of Executive Vice President for Embedded Security Solutions Division of the Company. Prior to joining the Company, he was Vice President of the Embedded Security Solutions division at AuthenTec (then SafeNet) in 2006. He spent four years addressing security issues for the Federal Aviation Administration. From 1998 to 2002, he worked with Certicom as director of business development and cryptographic research. Dr. Blake-Wilson is a researcher in wireless security, and the co-inventor of EAP-TTLS, a WLAN security solution. He edited several ANSI standards on Elliptic Curve Cryptography which have been adopted by the US government. He has also been involved with a number of industry standards bodies including Bluetooth, ICAO, IEEE, IETF, and OMA. Dr. Blake-Wilson is a certified information systems security professional, holds a Doctorate in Philosophy in Information Security and Mathematics from the University of London, and spent a year as a Fulbright scholar visiting Auburn University.

Christian Fleutelot

Mr. Christian Fleutelot serves as Executive Vice President for Digital Security and Member of the Management Board of Inside Secure SA. Before joining the company, Mr. Fleutelot was the Managing Director of Atmel Corporation's SMS smart card business, a position he had held since 2007. Prior to that, he was involved in the formation of numerous business units within Atmel Corp. In particular, at the company's Rousset operation in France, he created smart card and 32-bit microcontroller product lines. Between 1988 and 1995, he worked for ES2, a company specializing in on-demand integrated circuit production, where he performed a variety of sales management-related duties. When ES2 was bought over by Atmel Corp. in 1995, he had become their Director of Marketing. The early stages of his career were spent as an engineer at Matra defense, based in Paris Region. He graduated from the Ecole centrale de Lyon and holds a post-graduate degree in micro-electronics.

Bruno Charrat

Mr. Bruno Charrat serves as Executive Vice President for Innovation at Inside Secure SA. He is one of the founders of the Company. Since 2010, he has been responsible for its innovation strategy; more specifically, he is tasked with defining INSIDE's future technologies and products. He has played an active role in the development of standards for the contactless industry and owns essential patents relating to NFC technology (filed from 2000 onward), as well as to other innovative areas. He has defined architectures for the company's main products, including, in 1998, a new architecture for microprocessors aimed at the contactless market. Subsequently, he took charge of the NFC product line and its commercial launch. Before joining the firm, he was a Systems Engineer at Gemplus, where from 1992 to 1995 he worked on the first contactless systems for smart cards and the RFID market. He has a degree in systems engineering from Polytech Marseille, part of Universite Aix-Marseille.

Gary Chew

Mr. Gary Chew has served as Executive Vice President in charge of Advanced Security Solutions at Inside Secure SA since 2007. He joined the Company in 2006 as Vice President for Global Services. From 1993 to 2006, he fulfilled a variety of technical management roles with Gemplus. In particular, he was Regional Technical Director for the Asia-Pacific zone, Vice President of Software Engineering for the Americas, and Research and Development Software Director. He has over 20 years of experience in systems design and software development in various sectors, including banking, mobile networks and business security. He holds several smart card-related patents. He is a graduate of the Ecole nationale superieure des telecommunications in Paris.

Dimitrios Karayiannis

Dr. Dimitrios Karayiannis has been the Executive Vice President in charge of Research & Development at Inside Secure SA since 2012. He leads the R&D organisation and is responsible for the development of all products for Inside Secure Near Field Communication (NFC), Digital Security and Secure Payment business lines. Prior to joining the Company, Dr. Karayiannis held various positions at Texas Instruments in the United States and France. As a member of the senior leadership team at Texas Instruments France, he managed the R&D organisation for the Wireless Business Unit. Dr. Karayiannis holds a Ph.D degree in Computer Science from Southern Illinois University.

Damien Laroche

Mr. Damien Laroche serves as Executive Vice President for Industrial Operations and Engineering at Inside Secure SA. He began working for the Company in 2003. He started his professional career as a product engineer at SGS-Thomson (now STMicroelectronics). In 1989, he joined Gemplus as its Engineering Manager, focusing mainly on electrical and physical chip card characterization. Later, as Industrial Manager of Module Assembly, he played a role in the construction and launch of the firm's La Ciotat plant in France. In 1996, Gemplus appointed him to the position of Worldwide Industrial Director for Contactless Products. He holds a postgraduate degree in microelectronics from the University of Bordeaux.

Bernard Vian

Mr. Bernard Vian has served as Executive Vice President for Secure Transactions Division of Inside Secure SA since October 2013. Prior to this, he was Executive Vice President for Secure Payments Division of the Company. He came to the Company via Gemplus, where he held positions in sales and marketing. He also opened Gemplus' Californian office in 1996. As the firm's Applications Service Support Director for North America, a role he performed until 2001, he built customer relationships with Visa International and Visa USA. He joined the Company in 2002 as Business Development Manager. Mr. Vian is a graduate of Marseille's Institut universitaire des sciences pour l'ingenieur, part of Universite Aix-Marseille.

Glenn Collinson

Mr. Glenn Collinson has served as Member of the Supervisory Board at Inside Secure SA. He is the co-founder of Cambridge Silicon Radio Plc. Mr. Collinson oversaw the development of CSR from its formation in 1998 to its listing as a public company in 2004, first as Marketing Director and then as Sales Director. Since stepping down from the CSR board in 2007, his time has been taken up with directorships at Neul Ltd., at Solar Press Ltd, and at Wolfson Microelectronics plc. Other posts Mr. Collinson has held include director of Sonaptic Ltd, from April 2005 to July 2007, when it was sold to Wolfson, and director of Microemissive Displays Group plc., from April to November of 2008. Prior to founding CSR, he was Senior Engineer and Marketing Manager at Cambridge Consultants Ltd (1996-1998), and Design Engineer and Marketing Manager at Texas Instruments (1989-1996). He is a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology and holds a Bachelor of science in physics and a Master of science in electronics from Durham University, as well as an MBA from Cranfield University.

Patrick Jones

Mr. Patrick Schwager Jones has served as a Member of the Supervisory Board at Inside Secure SA. He is currently Chairman of the boards of both Lattice Semiconductor and Epocrates Inc. He also sits on the Board of Fluidigm and on the Board of Vista Inc. In addition, he previously sat on the Boards of many high-tech firms financed by venture capital investors. From 1998 to 2001, he was Senior Vice President and CFO of Gemplus SA (since integrated into Gemalto). He oversaw the initial public offering of the company on the New York and Paris stock exchanges. He had previously occupied the posts of Vice President for Finance and Corporate Controller at Intel, and CFO at LSI Logic, a manufacturer of specialized semiconductors. He began his career as an engineer at IBM, before working for Singer Company in Thailand, France and Singapore. He has an MBA in finance from Saint Louis University (United States) and is a graduate of the University of Illinois-Urbana-Champaign (also United States).

Olivier Sichel

Mr. Olivier Sichel has served as the Permanent Representative of Sofinnova Partners on the Supervisory Board of Inside Secure SA. He is a partner at Sofinnova Partners since 2006. Before joining Sofinnova, he held various operational posts at France Telecom from 1998 to 2000, before being appointed Chief Executive Officer of Alapage.com in 2000, a web-based retail company acquired by Wanadoo, and Chief Executive Officer of Wanadoo in 2002. In 2004, Mr. Sichel managed the reintegration of Wanadoo into the France Telecom group while taking on the management of its “fixed-line and Internet” division. He then carried out the merger of the fixed-line telephone teams with Wanadoo in all of Europe and was, in particular, one of the contributors to the launch of the Livebox and of VoIP. At Sofinnova Partners, he focuses mainly on the technology sector. Mr. Sichel has invested in OpenERP, Solutions30, Taptu, and Twenga, companies for which he serves as a Director. He serves as a Director for Streamezzo (sold to Amdocs) and Sprice (sold to TravelPort) and also for Mydeco and blueKiwi. He graduated from ESSEC Business School (France) and from ENA (Ecole Nationale d'Administration) (France) and is an Inspector of Finance (inspecteur des finances) in France.

Thierry Sommelet

Mr. Thierry Sommelet has served as the Permanent Representative of FSI (Fonds Strategiques d'Investissement) on the Supervisory Board of Inside Secure SA. Before joining FSI in 2009 an an Investment Director, Mr. Sommelet was Head of Investments in the Regional Digital Development service of Caisse des Depots, where he was responsible for investments in the digital sector. His career began in the financial markets with Credit Commercial de France (now HSBC), in Paris and New York, where he was in charge of risk management. In 1996, he joined Renaissance Software (now Infinity). From 2000 to 2001, he took charge of development and Internet strategy at media company InfosCE. He then moved to Caisse des depots in 2002. Mr. Sommelet sits on the boards of the following companies: TDF, 3S Photonics, Maeder and Sipartech. He is a graduate of the Ecole nationale des ponts et chaussees and earned an MBA from Insead.

Joelle Toledano

Ms. Joelle Toledano has served as a Member of the Supervisory Board at Inside Secure SA. She holds a Ph.D. in mathematics and a Ph.D. in economic science, Ms. Toledano has pursued an academic career in parallel to a business career. She started out as a research officer at the French national research centre CNRS, before lecturing in economics at the University of Rouen (France). At the same time, she held various management positions in IT and telecom industries. She was deputy CEO of Alcatel TITN and Alcatel-Answare from 1987 to 1989, then CEO of CCMC Ressources Humaines. Subsequently, she joined La Poste group’s strategy division in 1993, before going on to become its director of European and national regulations in 2001. As a professor at the SUPELEC University in Paris from 2005, Ms. Toledano was a member of the Autorite de regulation des communications electroniques et des postes (ARCEP, French digital communications and postal sector regulator) from 2005 until year-end 2011.
