Name Description

William Tiefel

Mr. William R. Tiefel serves as an Independent Chairman of the Board of CarMax Inc. He has been the Chairman of the Board of CarMax, since 2007. He is also the retired Vice Chairman of Marriott International, Inc. and Chairman Emeritus of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, LLC since 2002. He joined Marriott Corporation in 1961. He was named president of Marriott Hotels and Resorts in 1989, president of Marriott Lodging in 1992 and vice chairman of Marriott International and chairman of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company in 1998.

William Nash

Mr. William D. Nash serves as President of the Company. Mr. Nash joined CarMax in 1997 as auction manager. In 2007, he was promoted to vice president and later, senior vice president of merchandising, a position he held until October 2011, when he was named senior vice president, human resources and administrative services. In March 2012, he was promoted to executive vice president, human resources and administrative services. In February 2016, he was promoted to president. Prior to joining CarMax, Mr. Nash worked at Circuit City.

Thomas Folliard

Mr. Thomas J. Folliard serves as Chief Executive Officer, Director of the Company. Mr. Folliard is the Chief Executive Officer of CarMax and was the President and Chief Executive Officer of CarMax from 2006 until February 2016. He joined CarMax in 1993 as senior buyer and became director of purchasing in 1994. Mr. Folliard was promoted to vice president of merchandising in 1996, senior vice president of store operations in 2000, executive vice president of store operations in 2001 and president and chief executive officer in 2006.

Mr. Reedy joined CarMax in 2003 as its vice president and treasurer and, in January 2010, was promoted to senior vice president, finance. Mr. William C. Wood, Jr., serves as Chief Operating Officer, Executive Vice President of the Company. Mr. Wood joined CarMax in 1993 as a buyer-in-training. He has served as buyer, purchasing manager, district manager, regional director and director of buyer development. He was promoted to vice president, merchandising in 1998, vice president of sales operations in 2007, senior vice president, sales in 2010, senior vice president, stores in 2011 and executive vice president, stores in 2012. In February 2016, he was promoted to executive vice president and chief operating officer. Prior to joining CarMax, Mr. Wood worked at Circuit City.

Edwin Hill

Mr. Edwin J. Hill serves as Executive Vice President - Strategy and Business Transformation of the Company. Mr. Hill joined CarMax in 1995 as director of service operations. In 2001, Mr. Hill was promoted to vice president of service operations, and, in 2010, he was promoted to senior vice president of service operations, a position he held until 2013, when he was promoted to senior vice president, strategy and business transformation. In 2016, Mr. Hill was promoted to executive vice president, strategy and business transformation. Prior to joining CarMax, Mr. Hill was vice president of advanced programs at Reveo, Inc. and vice president of operations at Hypres.

Shamim Mohammad

Mr. Shamim Mohammad serves as Senior Vice President, Chief Information Officer of the Company. Mr. Mohammad joined CarMax in 2012 as vice president of application development and IT planning. In 2014 he was promoted to senior vice president and chief information officer. Prior to joining CarMax, Mr. Mohammad was vice president of information technology at BJ’s Wholesale Club from 2006 to 2012 and held various positions at Blockbuster and TravelCLICK.

James Lyski

Mr. James R. Lyski is Senior Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer of the Company. Mr. Lyski joined CarMax in August 2014 as senior vice president and chief marketing officer. Mr. Margolin joined CarMax in 2007 as senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary. Jon Daniels

Mr. Jon G. Daniels serves as Senior Vice President - CarMax Auto Finance of the Company. Mr. Daniels joined CarMax in 2008 as vice president, risk and analytics. In 2014, he was promoted to senior vice president, CarMax Auto Finance. Prior to joining CarMax, Mr. Daniels served as group director, credit risk management of HSBC and vice president of Metris.

Ronald Blaylock

Mr. Ronald E. Blaylock serves as an Independent Director of Carmax Inc. He is the founder and Managing Partner of GenNx360 Capital Partners, a private-equity buyout fund focused on industrial business-to-business companies. Prior to founding GenNx360 in 2006, Mr. Blaylock was chief executive officer of Blaylock & Company, a full-service investment banking firm that he founded in 1993. Previously, Mr. Blaylock held senior management positions with PaineWebber and Citigroup.

Alan Colberg

Mr. Alan B. Colberg serves as Independent Director of the Company. Since January 2015, Mr. Colberg has been the President, Chief Executive Officer and Director of Assurant, Inc., a provider of diverse insurance products and related services, since 2015. Mr. Colberg joined Assurant as Executive Vice President of Marketing and Business Development in March 2011. He was named Assurant’s President in 2014. Previously, Mr. Colberg worked for Bain & Company, Inc. for 22 years, founding Bain’s Atlanta office in 1996 and heading it until 2011. He also served as Bain’s global practice leader for financial services. Colberg holds a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Science in accounting and finance from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Rakesh Gangwal

Mr. Rakesh Gangwal serves as Independent Director of CarMax Inc. He is the former Chief Executive Officer of US Airways Group, Inc. and Worldspan Technologies, Inc. From 2003 to 2007, Mr. Gangwal served as chairman, president and chief executive officer of Worldspan Technologies, Inc., a provider of travel and information technology services to the travel and transportation industry. From 2002 to 2003, he was involved in various personal business endeavors, including private equity and consulting projects. From 1998 until his resignation in 2001, Mr. Gangwal served as president and chief executive officer of US Airways Group, Inc. and US Airways, Inc. and from 1996 to 1998, he was the president and chief operating officer of US Airways Group. Jeffrey Garten

Mr. Jeffrey E. Garten serves as an Independent Director of CarMax Inc., since 2002. He has been chairman of Garten Rothkopf, an international consulting firm, since 2005. He was the Juan Trippe Professor in the Practice of International Trade, Finance and Business at the Yale School of Management from 2005 to 2015 and the Dean of the Yale School of Management from 1995 to 2005. He was the United States Undersecretary of Commerce for International Trade from 1993 to 1995 and previously spent 13 years in investment banking with Lehman Brothers and Blackstone Group. He is a member of the board of overseers of the International Rescue Committee.

Shira Goodman

Ms. Shira D. Goodman serves as an Independent Director of CarMax Inc. Ms. Goodman has been the President, North American Operations of Staples, Inc., the world’s leading online, delivery and retail seller of business products, since February 2016. In her current position, she leads all of Staples’ U.S. and Canadian business units. Ms. Goodman joined Staples in 1992 and has held a variety of positions of increasing responsibility in general management, marketing and human resources, including serving as executive vice president, marketing from 2001 to 2009, executive vice president, human resources from 2009 to 2012, executive vice president, global growth from 2012 to 2014, and president, North American Commercial from 2014 to 2016. From 1986 to 1992, Ms. Goodman worked at Bain & Company in project design, client relationships and case team management.

W. Robert Grafton

Mr. W. Robert Grafton serves as an Independent Director of CarMax Inc. Mr. Grafton is the retired Managing Partner-Chief Executive, Andersen Worldwide S.C. Andersen Worldwide provided global professional auditing and consulting services through its two service entities, Arthur Andersen and Andersen Consulting. He is a retired certified public accountant and joined Arthur Andersen in 1963. He was elected a member of the Board of Partners, Andersen Worldwide in 1991 and chairman of the Board of Partners in 1994. He served as Managing Partner-Chief Executive from 1997 through 2000.

Edgar Grubb

Mr. Edgar H. Grubb serves as an Independent Director of CarMax Inc. He is the retired Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Transamerica Corporation, a leading insurance and financial services company. He joined Transamerica in 1989, became executive vice president in 1993 and retired in 1999. From 1986 to 1989, he was the senior vice president and chief financial officer of Lucky Stores, Inc.

Mr. Mitchell D. Steenrod serves as Independent Director of CarMax Inc. He has been the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Pilot Travel Centers LLC, the nation’s largest operator of travel centers and truck stops, since 2004. Mr. Steenrod joined Pilot Travel Centers in 2001 as controller and treasurer. In 2004, he was promoted to senior vice president and chief financial officer.
