Jean-Paul Agon |
Mr. Jean-Paul Agon has served as Chairman of the Board, Chief Executive Officer and Member of the Executive Committee of L'Oreal SA since March 17, 2011. He is also Chairman of the Company's Strategy and Sustainable Development Committee. He joined L'Oreal SA in 1978. After working as a sales representative for one year, he then took on marketing responsibilities. In 1981, he became General Manager of L'Oreal in Greece. Five years later, he assumed the role of General Manager of L’Oreal Paris in France, where his product launches included the Studio Line range. In 1989, he became International Managing Director for Biotherm, in the Luxury Products Division, and oversaw the strategic repositioning of the brand. In 1994, Mr. Agon became Managing Director of L’Oreal in Germany. In 1997, he set up L'Oreal's Asian zone, taking overall responsibility for all the group’s businesses. He created companies in countries where the group had previously operated through agents. In October 2001, Mr. Agon was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of L’Oreal USA, a position he held until 2005. In April 2006 he became Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Agon also serves as Director of Air Liquide SA and Galderma Pharma SA, as well as Chairman of Fondation d’Entreprise L’Oreal. Mr. Agon graduated from Hautes Etudes Commerciales (HEC) in 1978. |

He joined L'Oreal in 1990 to be in charge of industrial chemistry at the Libramont plant in Belgium. After being in charge of a production unit in Aulnay-sous-Bois in France, he was appointed General Manager of the Turin plant in Italy.
