Name Description

Michael Sweeney

Mr. Michael T. Sweeney serves as Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of Steinway Musical Instruments Inc. He has served as a director of the Company since April 2011, Chairman of the Board since July 2011 and President and Chief Executive Officer since October 2011. He is Chairman of the Board of Star Tribune Media Holdings, the holding company for the Minneapolis Star Tribune. He is also a partner of the private equity firm Goldner Hawn Johnson & Morrison, where he once served as its Managing Partner. Prior to his career in private equity, Mr. Sweeney served as the president of Starbuck's Coffee Company (UK) Ltd. He presently serves as a director of First Solar, Inc.

Dennis Hanson

Mr. Dennis M. Hanson is Chief Financial Officer, Senior Executive Vice President, General Counsel, Assistant Secretary of Steinway Musical Instruments, Inc. He joined Steinway in 1988 as Vice President of Finance and assumed duties as General Counsel in 1993. Prior to that, Mr. Hanson worked at Computervision Corporation, where he held various financial positions including Vice President of Audit. Mr. Hanson started his career in public accounting at Haskins and Sells in 1976.

John Stoner

Mr. John M. Stoner, Jr., is Director of Steinway Musical Instruments Inc., and President of Conn-Selmer Inc., a subsidiary of Steinway Musical Instruments Inc. Mr. Stoner became a director of the Company upon his appointment as President of Conn-Selmer, Inc. in 2002. Prior to that, Mr. Stoner spent 25 years with True Temper, Inc., a manufacturer of non-powered lawn and garden tools, where he held various positions of increasing responsibility. In 1995, he was appointed as True Temper's President and in 1999, after the acquisition of True Temper, became the President and Chief Executive Officer of Ames True Temper.

Ron Losby

Mr. Ronald Losby is President of Steinway & Sons Americas, a subsidiary of Steinway Musical Instruments Inc. He joined the Company in 1987 as District Sales Manager for the Midwestern region of the United States. In 1998, Mr. Losby became Managing Director of Steinway U.K. In 2005, Mr. Losby assumed responsibility for the Company's retail showrooms in Germany as Steinway's Director of European Retail Stores. Prior to joining Steinway & Sons, he held retail management positions at The Wurlitzer Company and Baldwin Piano & Organ Company.

Kyle Kirkland

Mr. Kyle R. Kirkland is Director of Steinway Musical Instruments Inc. Mr. Kirkland has served as a director of the Company since 1993 and served as Chairman of the Board from 1996 to 2011. He has been a principal of Kirkland Messina, Inc. since 1994. Prior to that, Mr. Kirkland was a Senior Vice President of an investment bank where he was responsible for its private placement financing activities.

Dana Messina

Mr. Dana D. Messina is Director of Steinway Musical Instruments, Inc. He has served as a director of the Company since 1993 and served as President and Chief Executive Officer from 1996 to 2011. He has been a principal of Kirkland Messina, Inc. since 1994. Prior to that, Mr. Messina was a Senior Vice President of an investment bank where he was responsible for all of its corporate finance and merchant banking activities.

Edward Kim

Mr. Edward E. Kim is Independent Director of Steinway Musical Instruments Inc. He is the founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of New Pride Corporation, a global intermodal logistics services company. Under Mr. Kim's direction, New Pride became the first United States based company listed on the KOSDAQ market of the Korea Exchange.

Mr. Jong Sup Kim is Independent Director of Steinway Musical Instruments, Inc. He is the chairman of Samick Musical Instruments Co., Ltd. Mr. Kim also serves as the chairman of Speco Co., Ltd., one of Korea's road building machinery companies.

Joon Kim

Mr. Joon W. Kim is Independent Director of Steinway Musical Instruments, Inc. He is Managing Principal and founder of M5 Investments and has been providing investment advisory and asset management services to institutional and high net-worth clients since 1993, focusing on investments in the high-tech sector and special situations. Previously, Mr. Kim worked as a management consultant for Temple, Barker & Sloan (presently Oliver Wyman) and as a summer associate for Union Bank of Switzerland (UBS). He holds a degree in economics from Harvard University and an MBA from the Wharton School of Business. Mr. Kim is a Chartered Financial Analyst charterholder.

Don Kwon

Mr. Don Kwon is Independent Director of Steinway Musical Instruments Inc., effective April 29, 2011. He is the Managing Partner at Michigan Venture Capital, a private equity firm based in Seoul, Korea. Mr. Kwon specializes in media and entertainment investments. He serves on the board of various portfolio companies serving the technology, online media, and retail consumer sectors. Prior to joining Michigan, Mr. Kwon worked for nearly a decade in investment banking.

David Lockwood

Mr. David James Lockwood is Independent Director of Steinway Musical Instruments, Inc., since January 31, 2008. He is a founding member and current Managing Partner of VA SmallCap Partners, LLC; ValueAct SmallCap Management, LLC; and ValueAct SmallCap Master Fund, L.P. Prior to his tenure with ValueAct, Mr. Lockwood was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Liberate Technologies, a provider of software for digital cable systems. Before serving at Liberate Technologies, he was Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Intertrust, a company which develops and licenses intellectual property. He presently serves as a director of Energy Solutions Inc.

Gregory Wood

Mr. Gregory S. Wood has been appointed as Independent Director of Steinway Musical Instruments, Inc., effective October 5, 2011. He is Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer of Actian Corporation, a provider of software that enables organizations to take rapid action on data sets. Prior to joining Actian, Mr. Wood held chief financial officer roles at numerous public and private companies, including Silicon Graphics, Liberate Technologies, and InterTrust Technologies. He began his career in public accounting and consulting, primarily with Ernst & Young. Mr. Wood holds a BBA in Accounting from the University of San Diego and a JD from the University of San Francisco School of Law.
