Sommer, Ron Mr. Ron Sommer is Chairman of the Board of Directors and Non-Executive Director at MTS Russia at Mobil'nye Telesistemy OAO (Mobile TeleSystems OJSC). In 2005 he was elected to the Board of Directors at Sistema as Independent director. Since 2003, he has worked as Chairman of the International Advisory Board at Sistema. Between May 1995 and July 2002, he was Chief Executive Officer of Deutsche Telekom AG. From 1980 to 1995, he held a number of positions with Sony Corporation, including as Chief Executive Officer of Sony Deutschland, Chief Operating Officer of Sony Corporation of America and Chief Operating Officer of Sony Europe. He acts as Member of the Board of Directors of Motorola, Tata Consultancy Services, Weather Investments, Munich Reinsurance and Member of the International Advisory Board of Blackstone Group. He received his PhD degree in Mathematics from the University of Vienna.
