Biographies

Name Description

George Joseph

 Mr. George Joseph is Chairman of the Board of Mercury General Corp since 1961. He held the position of Chief Executive Officer of the Company for 45 years between 1961 and December 2006. He has more than 50 years’ experience in all phases of the property and casualty insurance business. The Company believes that Mr. Joseph’s experience in the insurance industry and in underwriting, claims management and rate making in particular, as well as his role as founder of the Company and his longstanding service as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, qualify him for service on the Board of Directors.

Gabriel Tirador

 Mr. Gabriel Tirador is President, Chief Executive Officer, Director of Mercury General Corporation. He has served as Chief Executive Officer since January 1, 2007 and as President since October 2001. He was the Company’s Vice President and Chief Financial Officer from February 1998 until October 2001. From January 1997 to February 1998, he served as Vice President and Controller of the Automobile Club of Southern California. Prior to that, he served as the Company’s assistant controller from March 1994 to December 1996. Mr. Tirador has over 20 years’ experience in the property and casualty insurance industry and is an inactive certified public accountant.

Theodore Stalick

 Mr. Theodore R. Stalick is Chief Financial Officer, Vice President of Mercury General Corp. He joined the Company as Corporate Controller in 1997. In October 2000, he was named Chief Accounting Officer, a role he held until appointed to his current position in October 2001. Mr. Stalick is an inactive Certified Public Accountant.

Allan Lubitz

 Mr. Allan Lubitz is Chief Information Officer, Senior Vice President of Mercury General Corp. He joined the Company in January 2008. Prior to joining the Company, he served as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Option One Mortgage from 2003 to 2007. He held executive roles including Chief Information Officer of Ditech Mortgage and President of ANR Consulting Group from 2000 to 2003. Prior to 2000, he held several positions at TRW, Experian, and First American Corporation, most recently as a Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer.

Joanna Moore

 Ms. Joanna Y. Moore is Senior Vice President and Chief Claims Officer of Mercury General Corp. She joined the Company in the claims department in 1981. She was named Vice President of Claims in 1991 and Vice President and Chief Claims Officer in 1995. She was promoted to Senior Vice President and Chief Claims Officer on January 1, 2007.

John Sutton

 Mr. John Sutton is Senior Vice President - Customer Service of Mercury General Corp. He joined the Company as Assistant to the Chief Executive Officer in July 2000. He was named Vice President in September 2007 and Senior Vice President in January 2008. Prior to joining the Company, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Covenant Group from 1994 to 2000. Prior to 1994, he held various executive positions at Hanover Insurance Company.

Christopher Graves

 Mr. Christopher Graves is Vice President, Chief Investment Officer and Director of Mercury General Corp. He has been employed by the Company in the investment department since 1986. Mr. Graves was appointed Chief Investment Officer in 1998, and named Vice President in April 2001.

Brandt Minnich

 Mr. Brandt N. Minnich is Vice President - Marketing of Mercury General Corp. He joined the Company as an underwriter in 1989. In 2007, he joined Superior Access Insurance Services as Director of Agency Operations and rejoined the Company as an Assistant Product Manager in 2008. In 2009, he was named Senior Director of Marketing, a role he held until appointed to his current position later in 2009. Mr. Minnich has over 20 years experience in the property and casualty insurance industry and is a Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter.

Judy Walters

 Ms. Judy A. Walters is Vice President - Corporate Affairs and Secretary of Mercury General Corp. She has been employed by the Company since 1967, and has served as its Secretary since 1982. Ms. Walters was named Vice President—Corporate Affairs in 1998.

Robert Houlihan

 Mr. Robert Houlihan is Vice President and Chief Product Officer of Mercury General Corp. He joined the Company in December 2007. Prior to joining the Company, he served as National Product Manager at Bristol West Insurance Group from 2005 to 2007 and Product Manager at Progressive Insurance Company from 1999 to 2005.

Kenneth Kitzmiller

 Mr. Kenneth G. Kitzmiller is Vice President and Chief Underwriting Officer of Mercury General Corp. Mr. Kitzmiller has been employed by the Company in the underwriting department since 1972. Mr. Kitzmiller was appointed Vice President in 1991, and named Chief Underwriting Officer in January 2010.

Charles Toney

 Mr. Charles Toney is Chief Actuary, Vice President of Mercury General Corp. He joined the Company in 1984 as a programmer/analyst. In 1994, he earned his Fellowship in the Casualty Actuarial Society and was appointed to his current position.

Donald Newell

 Mr. Donald P. Newell serves as Lead Independent Director of Mercury General Corporation. He has been retired since May 2007. Between January 2001 and May 2007, Mr. Newell was Senior Vice President and General Counsel of SCPIE Holdings Inc., an insurance holding company. Mr. Newell also served as a director of SCPIE Holdings Inc. prior to January 15, 2007. For more than 25 years prior to January 2001, Mr. Newell was a partner of the law firm of Latham & Watkins LLP in Los Angeles and San Diego, California.

Michael Curtius

 Mr. Michael D. Curtius is a Director of Mercury General Corporation. He has been retired since August 2012. From October 2000 to August 2012, Mr. Curtius was a consultant to the Company. He served as President and Chief Operating Officer of the Company from May 1995 until October 2000, and as Vice President and Chief Claims Officer of the Company from October 1987 until May 1995.

Bruce Bunner

 Mr. Bruce A. Bunner is an Independent Director of Mercury General Corporation. He has been retired since February 2002. From January 1996 to February 2002, Mr. Bunner was President of Financial Structures, Limited, a Bermuda based insurance company and a subsidiary of Royal & SunAlliance Group plc. From April 1994 to April 1995, Mr. Bunner served as Director of External Affairs of Zurich Centre Advisors, Inc., a consulting company specializing in insurance and reinsurance risk arrangements. From January 1991 to April 1994, he served as Chairman of the Board of Centre Reinsurance Company of New York, a reinsurance company. Mr. Bunner was a partner in the firm of KPMG LLP from 1974 to 1990, except during the period from 1983 to 1986 when he served as Insurance Commissioner of the State of California.

Richard Grayson

 Mr. Richard E. Grayson serves as an Independent Director of Mercury General Corporation. He has been retired since January 1995. Prior to January 1995, Mr. Grayson was Senior Vice President of Union Bank of Los Angeles, California and President and Director of Current Income Shares, Inc., a publicly held closed-end investment company.

Martha Marcon

 Ms. Martha E. Marcon has been an Independent Director of Mercury General Corporation. She has been retired since January 2006.
