| Cook-Bennett, Gail | Dr. Gail Cook-Bennett was appointed Chair of the Board on October 2, 2008. Gail Cook-Bennett is past Chair of the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, an investment management organization that invests the Canada Pension Plan fund to help pay the benefits of 17 million Canadians who participate in the Plan, a position she held since 1998. Gail Cook-Bennett holds a BA (Honours) from Carleton University and a PhD (Economics) from the University of Michigan. She is a Member of the Order of Canada. She holds a Doctor of Laws Degree (honoris causa) from Carleton University and is a Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Directors. |
| Guloien, Donald | Mr. Donald Guloien, a 28-year veteran of Manulife Financial Corporation, will succeed Dominic D’Alessandro upon his election as President and Chief Executive Officer on May 7, 2009. | Bell, Michael | Mr. Michael Bell has been appointed as Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Manulife Financial Corp. with effect from July 22, 2009, will be responsible for the financial affairs of the Company including Finance, Accounting, Capital, Valuation, Treasury, Controllers, Taxation, Investor Relations and Reinsurance. At CIGNA, Michael led the sale of their Retirement business and the purchase of Great West’s healthcare operations. Prior to being appointed CFO at CIGNA, Michael Bell served for two and one half years as President of CIGNA Group Insurance business, and under his leadership earnings in this operation increased nearly threefold over a three year period. In his time at the Company, he advanced through key management positions in Retirement & Investment Services, HealthCare and in individual insurance. In 1994 he became Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for CIGNA's Intracorp subsidiary and in 1995 he was appointed Vice President and Actuary for CIGNA HealthCare. | DesPrez, John | Mr. John D. DesPrez III is Chief Operating Officer of Manulife Financial Corporation ; President and CEO of John Hancock Financial Services. He was Senior Executive Vice President and General Manager, North American Operations, responsible for all of the Toronto-based company’s North American businesses. He also is a member of Manulife Financial Corporation’s Executive and Management Committees. In September 2008, Manulife’s Board of Directors announced that effective May 2009 Mr. DesPrez would become Chief Operating Officer, responsible for Insurance and Wealth Management Operations in Canada, the United States, Asia and Japan. Mr. DesPrez directs all phases of Manulife’s U.S. and Canadian operations, which encompass a broad range of insurance and investment products and services. | Thomson, Warren | Mr. Warren Thomson is Senior Executive Vice President, Chief Investment Officer of Manulife Financial Corporation. He was Executive Vice President, U.S. Investments of Manulife Financial Corporation. Prior to September 2006, Warren Thomson was Executive Vice President, U.S. Investments. | Cooper, Joseph | Mr. Joseph (Joe) Cooper, joined Manulife Financial Corporation in April 2007 in the role of Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer. Mr. Cooper holds oversight responsibility for all of Manulife’s Information Technology (IT) activities on a global basis and will be responsible for advancing the Company’s effective use of information technology world-wide including outsourcing and vendor management, global coordination of IT infrastructure and architecture, business continuity planning and testing, operation of the Manila Business Processing Centre, and global Procurement. Prior to July 2004, Mr. Bisnaire was a partner at Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg LLP, a law firm with offices in Toronto, Montreal and New York. He is responsible for overseeing worldwide the functions of business development, law, compliance, internal audit, information technology and corporate secretary. | Bean, Diane | Ms. Diane Bean is Executive Vice President - Corporate Affairs & Human Resources of Manulife Financial Corporation. Diane Bean was Senior Vice President, Corporate Human Resources and Communications, prior to April 2004. Ms. Bean graduated in 1969 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Toronto. She began her career with Systems Dimensions Ltd. (SDL) as Project Manager in the Education Consulting Division. In 1975, she joined Manulife Financial in the Corporate office where she held positions in planning, public affairs, government relations, media relations and policyholder relations. International operations were concentrated in the U.K. and Asia and included wholly owned operations and joint ventures in Hong Kong, China, Philippines, Indonesia, Korea, Taiwan, and Singapore. She co-chairs the Toronto Regional Immigration Employment Council, sits on the Human Resources Advisory Board of the Canadian Life and Health Industry Association and is a member of the Board of Governors for the Canada School of Public Service. | Cook, Robert | Mr. Robert Cook is Senior Executive Vice President and General Manager, Asia & Japan of Manulife Financial Corporation . He was Executive Vice President, Life Insurance, John Hancock, prior to January 2007. Prior to April 2004, Mr. Cook was Senior Vice President, U.S. Insurance. As Senior Executive Vice President and General Manager, Asia, Mr. Cook has overall general management responsibility for Manulife’s Asia and Japan Division. Prior to March 2007, Paul Rooney was Executive Vice President, Individual Insurance and Chief Financial Officer, Canadian Division. | Boyle, James | Mr. James Boyle serves as Senior Executive Vice President - U.S. Division of Manulife Financial Corporation, effective May 07, 2010. Mr. Boyle, as Executive Vice President of the John Hancock Insurance Group, has responsibility for John Hancock’s Life Insurance, Long-Term Care and Financial Network business units. Mr. Boyle directs the business strategy, sales, marketing, product development and service operations of each of these businesses which are all part of John Hancock Financial Services, the U.S. division of Manulife Financial. John Hancock Life Insurance is an industry leader in the U.S. life insurance sector. John Hancock was the #1 writer of life insurance in the United States in 2006 as reported by LIMRA. The Life Insurance business unit supports more than 3 million policyholders. | Curtis, Simon | Mr. Simon Curtis is Executive Vice President and Chief Actuary of Manulife Financial Corporation . He was Senior Vice President and Chief Actuary, prior to April 2004. Simon is also responsible for overseeing worldwide regulatory capital reporting and management, including certification of the company’s consolidated regulatory capital filings. Mr. Curtis began his career at Maritime Life in Halifax as an actuarial student. He joined Manulife soon after as an actuarial associate and has been with Manulife for 26 years. In July 2001 he was appointed Vice President, Business Development. In November 2002 he was appointed Vice President and Deputy Appointed Actuary of the Corporate Actuarial division. He was named Senior Vice President and Chief Actuary in March 2003, and was appointed to his current position in April 2004, upon completion of the merger with John Hancock. Mr. Curtis holds a degree from the University of Toronto in statistics and actuarial science. | Firth, J. Roy | Mr. J. Roy Firth is Executive Vice President - Individual Wealth Management of Manulife Financial Corporation . He was Senior Vice President, Individual Wealth Management Canadian Operations, prior to April 2004. He is Chairman of Manulife Securities and Elliott & Page Limited. | Margolian, Beverly | Ms. Beverly Margolian is Executive Vice President , Chief Risk Officer of Manulife Financial Corporation. She was Senior Vice President and Chief Risk Officer, prior to April 2004. She is responsible for all aspects of Manulife’s Risk Management programs worldwide, including programs related to credit risk, market and asset liability risk, insurance risk and operations risk. | McHaffie, Hugh | Mr. Hugh McHaffie is Executive Vice President, U.S. Wealth Management of Manulife Financial Corporation. Mr. McHaffie leads the Variable Annuities, Retirement Plan Services, Mutual Funds, Fixed Products, Retirement Income and Rollover Solutions, and Investment Management Services businesses. | Hartz, Scott | Mr. Scott Hartz is Executive Executive Vice President - General Account Investments of Manulife Financial Corporation.
