Kevin McClatchy |
Mr. Kevin S. McClatchy has been appointed as Independent Non-Executive Chairman of the Board of McClatchy Co., effective May 16, 2012. From 1996 to 2007, he was the managing general partner and Chief Executive Officer of the Pittsburgh Pirates, League Baseball team. From 1994 to 1995, he was president of the Northern California Sports Development Group and The Modesto A’s, league baseball team. Mr. McClatchy held various positions with McClatchy from 1990 to 1994, including serving as Sales Director for The Newspaper Network, Inc., advertising Director at the Amador Ledger Dispatch and sales representative for The Sacramento Bee. As a former Senior Executive Officer of a professional and minor league sports franchise, Mr. McClatchy has demonstrated leadership capability and the knowledge of the complex financial, operational and personnel issues facing by the organizations. |

Mr. Patrick J. Talamantes has been appointed as President, Chief Executive Officer, Director of McClatchy Co., effective May 16, 2012. He served as Vice President - Finance, and Chief Financial Officer of McClatchy. Prior to joining McClatchy, he was with Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc., a television broadcasting company, from 1996 to 2001, and served the last two years as Chief Financial Officer. Elaine Lintecum |
Ms. Elaine Lintecum has been appointed as Chief Financial Officer, Vice President - Finance of The McClatchy Co., effective May 16, 2012. Lintecum has served as McClatchy's treasurer since 2002 and spent the last 24 years in McClatchy's corporate finance department holding a variety of key positions, including financial analyst, investor relations manager and assistant treasurer. She was McClatchy's financial reporting specialist for U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filings. Lintecum will retain the duties of treasurer in her new position. Lintecum first joined McClatchy as a financial analyst in 1988 after seven years as a certified public accountant in the audit department of Deloitte Haskins & Sells, a predecessor of Deloitte & Touche. Lintecum was promoted to investor relations manager in 1993, named assistant treasurer in 2000 and promoted to treasurer in 2002. She has played an instrumental role in every financial development at McClatchy -- from mergers and acquisitions to debt repayment and restructuring for more than two decades. She earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from California State University, Chico in 1980 after serving two years in the U.S. Army. |
Robert Weil |
Mr. Robert J. Weil serves as Vice President - Operations of McClatchy Co since September 1997, overseeing McClatchy’s operations in the Northwest, the Midwest, Texas, Pennsylvania, Georgia and Mississippi. He was named to this position after 17 years as a newspaper publisher. Mr. Weil joined McClatchy as publisher of The Fresno Bee in 1994. From 1992 to 1994, he was President and Chief Operating Officer for Persis Media, a privately held company with newspapers in Washington and Tennessee. Mr. Weil held other senior management positions with Persis and Gannett Co. from 1973 to 1992. He currently serves as Vice Chairman on the board of directors of American Press Institute and is a member of the board of directors for the Southern Newspaper Publishers’ Association. |

Mr. Mark Zieman serves as Vice President - Operations of McClatchy Company since June 2011. Mr. Zieman, who most recently was the publisher of The Kansas City Star, will oversee 13 daily newspapers and their affiliated operations in seven states, primarily in the Midwest and Southeast. These include the (Columbus) Ledger-Enquirer, The (Macon) Telegraph, the Belleville News-Democrat, The Wichita Eagle, the (Biloxi) Sun Herald, The Kansas City Star, The Charlotte Observer, The (Raleigh) News & Observer, The Beaufort Gazette, The (Rock Hill) Herald, The (Hilton Head) Island Packet, The (Columbia) State and The (Myrtle Beach) Sun News. Mr. Zieman was named president and publisher of The Kansas City Star in 2008. From 1997 to 2008, he served as the newspaper’s editor and vice president. Prior to that, Mr. Zieman was an investigative reporter from 1986 to 1989 where he rose through the newsroom management. He became projects editor in 1989, managing editor in 1992 and was named editor in 1997. |
Karole Morgan-Prager |
Ms. Karole Morgan-Prager serves as Vice President, General Counsel, Corporate Secretary of McClatchy Co. She has been General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of McClatchy since July 1995 and was named Vice President in May 1998. From 1992 to 1995, she was Associate General Counsel of The Times Mirror Company. She was an associate with the law firm of Morrison & Foerster LLP from 1987 to 1992. Mr. William McClatchy serves as an Independent director of McClatchy Co since September 2004. Mr. McClatchy is an entrepreneur, journalist and co-founder of Index Investing, LLC. He currently serves as editor of Index Investing’s ETFzone.com, a website supplying content concerning exchange-traded index funds. In 1999, Mr. McClatchy co-founded indexfunds.com, a website for index investing content. He is president and chief executive officer of NewSchools Venture Fund, a national founder of education innovations, a position he has held since September 2005. He also served as President of the California State Board of Education. He was President of Occidental College in Los Angeles, a position he held from July 1999 to August 2005. Mr. Mitchell was Vice President of education and strategic initiatives at the J. Paul Getty Trust from 1998 to 1999.
