William Gates |
Mr. William Henry Gates III, is Chairman of the Board of Microsoft Corporation. On June 27, 2008, Gates transitioned out of a day-to-day role in the company to spend more time on his global health and education work at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Mr. Gates continues to serve as Microsoft's chairman and as an advisor on key development projects. Mr. Gates served as Chief Software Architect from January 2000 until June 2006, when he announced his two-year plan for transition out of a day-to-day full-time employee role. Mr. Gates served as the Company's Chief Executive Officer from 1981 until January 2000, when he resigned as Chief Executive Officer and assumed the position of Chief Software Architect. He is currently a Director of Berkshire Hathway Inc.. Mr. Gates attended public elementary school and the private Lakeside School. |
