Name Description

Leopold von Heimendahl

Dr. Leopold von Heimendahl has been Chairman of the Supervisory Board at Nabaltec AG since August 25, 2006. After completing his studies in Physics and receiving a Ph.D. degree in Bonn, Grenoble, Munich and Stuttgart and conducting research at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, the United States, Dr. von Heimendahl first worked as an academic assistant at the Universitaet Hamburg. In 1978 he moved to the business consultancy firm McKinsey & Co., Inc. in Duesseldorf. In 1982, he assumed sales management of Hommelwerke GmbH in Schwenningen, a subsidiary of Otto Wolf AG, which produces and distributes worldwide the measuring equipment for precision and mechanical series production. In 1986, Dr. von Heimendahl joined Schott Glas, now Schott AG. There he assumed commercial and sales duties in various divisions, often associated with responsibility for development. From 1993 to 1999, he was Member of the Management Board, taking responsibility for operative units and central services and functions. From 1999 until his retirement on 1 January 2004, he held the position of the Spokesman for the Management Board.

Dieter Braun

Dr. Dieter J. Braun is Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board at Nabaltec AG. After studying Organic Chemistry and earning a Ph.D. degree, Dr. Braun began his professional career in September 1980 as an application technician for aluminum hydroxide at VAW Aluminium AG. In 1987, he became Director of sales for the special oxides line in Schwandorf. In 1988, he was entrusted with the management of the special oxides line. After graduating from an advanced management program at Inistitut Europeen d'Administration des Affaires (NSEAD) in Fontainebleau, he was appointed Managing Director of VAW motor GmbH in 1992. In 1996, he became universal agent (Generalbevollmaechtigter) for VAW aluminium AG. In 1997, he assumed the position of Member of the Management Board with responsibility for the automotive supply business, research and development, VAW of America and coordination of central purchasing. After the takeover of VAW by Norsk Hydro in 2002, Dr. Braun assumed the chairmanship of Management Board at Hydro Aluminium Deutschland GmbH (HAD) and Norsk Hydro Deutschland Verwaltungsgesellschaft GmbH (NHDV). After withdrawing from management in July 2006, Dr. Braun moved to the Supervisory Board of the German Hydro companies HAD and NHDV. Dr. Braun has been shareholder and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Smetan Engineering GmbH since October 2009, has served as Member of the Supervisory Board of Hydro Aluminium Rolled Products GmbH and as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Heyn-Partner GmbH since 2011.

Johannes Heckmann

Mr. Johannes Heckmann has been Member of the Management Board at Nabaltec AG since 2006. From 1995 he worked at the Company as Managing Director. Mr. Heckmann is responsible for technical affairs, including production as well as research and development at the Company. After completing Commercial Engineering studies at the Fachhochschule Rosenheim, he began his professional career in 1993 as a project manager at Schindler Aufzuege AG in Lucerne, Switzerland. At the end of 1993, Mr. Heckmann switched to AKW Ambergerkaolinwerke GmbH, where he also worked as a project manager, holding responsibility for construction of a china clay plant in Brazil.

Gerhard Witzany

Mr. Gerhard Witzany has been Member of the Management Board at Nabaltec AG since 2006. Mr. Witzany is responsible for commercial affairs, including distribution, procurement, marketing, finances, controlling and human resources at the Company. Mr. Witzany completed his business administration studies in 1974 at the Universitaet Regensburg and then first worked as sales representative in the United States sales department and then as Director of the copper piping export department of Wieland-Werke AG in Ulm. In 1982 he changed to Metallwerke Schwarzwald GmbH in Villingen, where he was responsible for domestic sales management as a proxy holder (Prokura). From 1985 to 1992 Mr. Witzany was Managing Director of VAW Flussspat-Chemie GmbH and Hebel Stulln GmbH and Pharma Stulln GmbH in Stulln. He then switched to the Supervisory Board of VAW Flussspat-Chemie GmbH, additionally assuming the management of the special oxides line of VAW aluminium AG in Berlin/Bonn. Mr. Witzany worked as Managing Director of Nabaltec from 1995, with only a brief interruption to work as Managing Director for Pharma Stulln GmbH and ALSI-PENTA Zeolithe GmbH.

Juergen Heinrich

Prof. Dr. Juergen G. Heinrich is Member of the Supervisory Board at Nabaltec AG. He is Professor for Engineering Ceramics at the Institute for Non-Metallic Materials at the Technical University of Clausthal. He began his academic career at the Johann Friedrich Boettger Institute in Selb, where he graduated as a Diplom-Ingenieur (FH) in 1972. In 1976 he completed his studies in materials sciences as a Diplom-Ingenieur at the Technical University of Berlin, where he also earned his doctorate in 1979. He then worked until 1985 with only a brief interruption at the German Aerospace Center in Cologne and directed from 1985 to 1995 the development department of the engineering ceramics product segment of Hoechst CeramTec AG. Since 1993 he has been Member of the Research Advisory Board of the German Ceramics Society, from 2003 through 2007 as its President. From 2007 through 2009, he has been President of the European Ceramic Society. Since 1999 he has been Member of the Academy of Ceramics and, since 2008, he has been Secretary of the International Ceramic Federation and a Fellow in the American Ceramic Society. Professor Heinrich began his work at the Institute for Non-Metallic Materials at the Technical University of Clausthal in 1995, where he was dean of the Physics, Metallurgy and Materials Sciences Departments from 2001 to 2003. Since 2010, he has been the editor of the Journal of Ceramic Science and Technology.
