Name Description

David Jackson

Mr. David Alexander Jackson is Independent Chairman of the Board of New Zealand Refining Company Ltd. He is a Chartered Accountant. He is Director of a number of public companies, including Nuplex Industries Ltd and Fonterra Co-Operative Group Ltd. He holds a Master of Commerce (Hons) and is Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Sjoerd Post

Mr. Sjoerd Post is Chief Executive Officer of New Zealand Refining Company Ltd. He joined the Company in January 2013. He has over 30 years’ international experience with Shell. Prior to joining Refining NZ, Sjoerd was a member of the Executive Team of Royal Dutch Shell’s Downstream (Refining, Trading, Distribution and Sales and Marketing) business responsible for the overall global Downstream Strategy and Portfolio activities. Sjoerd was also on the Boards of the European Refinery Association Europia and Technical Association CONCAWE. Prior to that he was the Head of Shell’s Global Aviation and Marine businesses and has held a variety of roles in Trading, Commercial Sales, Customer Service Management, Marketing and Sales, including assignments in New Zealand, Denmark and London.

Denise Jensen

Ms. Denise M. Jensen is Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary of New Zealand Refining Company Ltd. She has enjoyed a long association with the Company, having been the manager responsible for the external audit of NZRC whilst previously employed by one of the big four chartered accounting firms. She joined NZRC in 2005 as Internal Auditor, before taking over the role of Accounting Manager (on a job-share basis). In 2009 Denise was appointed to the role of Chief Financial Officer and in 2010, Company Secretary. Prior to starting with the Company, she was the manager responsible for auditing Refining NZ while working for one of the ‘big four’ chartered accountant firms.

Jack Ariel

Mr. Jack Ariel is Project Director of The New Zealand Refining Company Ltd. He worked for Shell for more than 30 years during which time he held a variety of leadership roles in his native Argentina and across the world. These roles included Engineering, Production, Supply chain and Project management as well as Fuels distribution. Before coming to New Zealand in 2006, he was the General Manager for the Lubricants Supply Chain in Latin America and the Caribbean. After directing the completion of the refinery’s Point Forward Project, Jack retired from Shell and joined Refining NZ as Refining Manager. In May 2011, he was appointed Project Director for the New Venture – Te Mahi Hou project. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

Robin Baxter

Mr. Robin Baxter is Engineering Manager at New Zealand Refining Company Ltd. Prior to joining the Company, he had worked as a project engineer and maintenance manager in both the Paper and Steel Production industries in Australia and the UK. He joined Refining NZ in 1995 and over the past 18 years has fulfilled several engineering, maintenance and project management positions. In early 2006, he travelled to Far Eastern Russia, where he was seconded on a four year assignment to work for Shell on the Sakhalin Island LNG project where he lead the development, training and implementation of the new LNG maintenance organisation.

Kate Dunn,

Ms. Kate Dunn, B.Ed, Masters of Applied Sciences, Post Grad Dip Ind & Org Psych, NZ Reg., is Human Resources Manager at New Zealand Refining Company Ltd. She joined Refining NZ in January 2013 as a Human Resources specialist. Having worked off shore with Merrill Lynch and Glaxo Smith Klein, followed by time with Carter Holt Harvey and then 10 years with Fonterra, she brings with her industry experience. She has a Masters and Post graduate diploma in Industrial and Organisational Psychology. Her management roles have been in Human Resources, Lean Sigma and Change Management.

David Gray

Mr. David Gray is Supply Chain & Business Optimisation Manager at New Zealand Refining Company Ltd. He joined Refining NZ in 1995 and joined the Leadership Team in 2013. He has more than 30 years experience in the refining, oil and petrochemical industry in New Zealand and South Africa. He has held various roles with Refining NZ, including Supply Planning, Commercial, Strategy and Business Development. In these roles, he has engaged with company customers and other business contacts locally and internationally. Prior to moving to New Zealand and joining the Company, he worked at Sasol in South Africa in roles at various seniority levels, starting as process engineer and concluding as Operations Manager.

Peter Gubb

Mr. Peter Gubb is Refining Manager of New Zealand Refining Company Ltd. He joined Refining NZ in 1985 as an operator during the expansion project. Originally from the Waikato, his previous process experience had been in the dairy industry. He has held various roles with Refining NZ, including working in Operations, IT and Process Services. In 2007 Peter joined the Leadership Team as Quality, Health, Safety and Environment Manager. In 2011, he took over from Jack Ariel as Refining Manager.

Greg McNeil

Mr. Greg McNeil is Communications & External Affairs Manager at New Zealand Refining Company Ltd. He has over 20 years' experience in corporate communications, gained predominantly in the UK where he worked in the FMCG and B2B sectors for national and global businesses - including Royal Mail, Dairy Crest, Unilever, BOC Industrial Gases. He returned to New Zealand in 2008, to work as a media relations advisor for Bank of New Zealand. He joined Refining NZ in 2009 where his role encompasses all areas external and internal communications. He joined the Leadership Team in 2013.

Julian Young

Dr. Julian Young, Ph.D. (Chemical Engineering), is HSSE Manager at New Zealand Refining Company Ltd. He joined Refining NZ in 2002 as a process engineer for the Semi Regeneration Platformer. Prior to that he worked, in South Africa, both as a process and a control engineer in Caltex and SASOL. From 2009-2012, he concentrated on operations being the Asset Manager for the Hydrocracking complex at Refining NZ. In 2013, he was appointed the HSSE Manager and so became a member of the Refining NZ leadership team.

Michael Bennetts

Mr. Michael (Mike) J. Bennetts is Director of New Zealand Refining Company Ltd. He is Chief Executive Officer of Z Energy Limited. Previously, he held senior roles with a global oil in New Zealand, China, Singapore, South Africa and the United Kingdom. He has Director experience in both private and public energy related companies in South Africa and Asia Pacific since 1998. Currently, he is Director of Auckland Iron Works Ltd, Big Tree Stations Ltd, Harbour City Property Investments Ltd, Loyalty New Zealand Ltd and Mini Fuels & Oils Ltd.

Mr. Matthew Elliott is Director of New Zealand Refining Company Ltd. He has been Vice President and Managing Director of Operations for BP New Zealand Ltd. He joined BP in 1994 and has held positions in Retail, Marketing and Project Management with BP in Australia, Texas and London. He has been a Director in Australia and Fiji as part of BP SWP Ltd.
