Biographies

Name Description
Yu, Li Li Yu has been Preferred Bank 's President and Chief Executive Officer since 1993. From December 1991 to the present, he has served as Chairman of Board of Directors. From 1987 to 1991, he was involved in several privately held companies of which he was the owner. From 1982 to 1987, he served as Chairman of the Board of California Pacific National Bank, which became a part of Bank of America. Mr. Yu received a Masters of Business Administration, or MBA, from the University of California, Los Angeles. He was also the past President of the National Association of Chinese American Bankers, and is currently a member of the Board of Visitors of UCLA’s Anderson Graduate School of Management.
Czajka, Edward Mr. Czajka has been Senior Vice president and Chief Financial Officer since 2006. Before joining Preferred Bank, Mr. Czajka was Chief Financial Officer of Presidio Bank, a San Francisco-based bank that was then in organization. In this capacity, he was responsible for overall operations implementation and all back office functions including information technology, human resources, accounting and branch operations. Prior to this, Mr. Czajka was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of North Valley Bancorp, a publiclytraded multi-bank holding company located in Redding, California. From 1994 through 2000, Mr. Czajka held the position of Vice President, Corporate Controller for Pacific Capital Bancorp in Santa Barbara, California.
Pi, Nick Mr. Pi has been Preferred Bank's Executive Vice President and Group Manager since 2006 and Senior Vice President and Corporate Banking Officer from 2003 to 2006. Before joining Preferred Bank, Mr. Pi was the Senior Vice President and Commercial Real Estate Lending Team Leader of Chinatrust Bank (U.S.A.) from 2000 to 2003. Prior to this, he held various corporate titles from Assistant Vice President to Senior Vice President at Chinatrust bank (U.S.A.), mainly in the branch operation and lending fields from 1995 to 2000. His lending and credit experience also includes Grand Pacific Financing Corporation from 1989 to 1995, an affiliate of China Trust Group. Mr. Pi received a BA degree in Business School from NTU, Taiwan and a MBA degree from ESU.
Lo, Thomas Thomas Lo is Executive Vice President - Orange County of Preferred Bank. Mr. Lo will oversee Preferred Bank's existing branch and lending department in Irvine, California and work to expand Preferred Bank's branch network throughout Orange County. Prior to joining Preferred Bank, Mr. Lo served as a Senior Vice President at Bank of the West.
Denitz, Frederick Frederick B. Denitz is Executive Vice President of Preferred Bank. Mr. Denitz served as an Executive Vice President at Mellon 1st Business Bank, where he was also a member of the Bank's senior management committee.
Kosof, Robert Robert J. Kosof is Executive Vice President, Chief Credit Officer of Preferred Bank. Mr. Kosof brings over 40 years of banking experience in the greater Los Angeles area to his new position. Prior to joining Preferred Bank, Mr. Kosof was Executive Vice President/Chief Credit Officer at RP Reality Partners LLC. Earlier in his career, he held senior management positions at several banks including Bank Leumi USA, Olympic National Bank, Comerica Bank (formerly Imperial Bank), and Bank of America.
Cheng, William Mr. Cheng has been President of H & C Industries, Inc. since 1974. H & C Industries is engaged in the export, import and distribution of chemical products. Mr. Cheng received a MBA Degree from USC and a Masters Degree in engineering systems from UCLA. Mr. Cheng was one of its founding shareholders.
Lin, Frank Mr. Lin has been President of Born Mark Management, a Real Estate Management & Investment Firm, since 1987, as well as President of New Century BMW, Inc. since 1991. Born Mark Management is actively involved in real estate investments in California and in the Far East. Mr. Lin received a Bachelors Degree from TamKang University, in Taiwan in 1982 and a Masters Degree, Computer Science from Villanova University in Pennsylvania in 1988.
Wu, Chih-Wei Mr. Wu has been President and Chief Executive Officer of Hsinchu International Bank in Taiwan since 1996. Hsinchu Bank currently has total assets of approximately $15 billion, and is publicly traded on the Taiwan Stock Exchange. Prior to that he was Executive President, Commercial Banking of Hsinchu Bank from 1990. Mr. Wu received a MBA Degree from Chico State University and a Bachelors Degree from Tung-Wu University in Taiwan. Both Mr. Wu and Hsinchu International Bank were Preferred Bank’s founding shareholders.
Belliston, J. Richard Mr. Belliston has been Vice Chairman and Chief Financial Officer of MoneyLine Lending Services since 2001, following the merger of Tokai Bank of California and Sanwa Bank. Previously, Mr. Belliston served as Vice Chairman and Chief Financial Officer of Tokai Bank of California. Mr. Belliston is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the AICPA and California Society of CPA’s. Mr. Belliston received a Bachelors of Science degree from Brigham Young University.
Hsu, Clark Mr. Hsu has been President of Microtek Lab, Incorporated, a U.S. subsidiary of a Taiwanese publicly-traded company, since 2000. Microtek Lab specializes in the design, manufacture and distribution of digital imaging products for consumer and commercial applications. From 1999-2000, Mr. Hsu served as Vice-President, Special Projects for Microtek Lab and from 1997-1999 was the Director of Product Development and Marketing for Microtek Lab. Mr. Hsu received a Bachelors Degree form the University of Pennsylvania in 1992 and a MBA Degree from the UCLA Anderson School of Business in 1997.
Nunnelly, Gary Mr. Nunnelly has been President of American Thermoform Corporation, a company engaged in the import and manufacture of equipment and supplies for the visually impaired, since 1985. He spent several years at Union Bank during the earlier stage of his career. Mr. Nunnelly received a Bachelors of Science Degree in accounting from USC. Mr. Nunnelly was one of Preferred Bank’s founding shareholders and one of Preferred Bank’s initial directors.
Yu, Albert Dr. Yu has been active investing and nurturing high technology companies since his retirement from Intel Corporation in 2002 after almost 30 years. Dr. Yu had been Senior Vice President, Member of the Corporate Management Committee and General Manager of the heart of Intel’s business: microprocessors, chipsets, boards and software for over sixteen years. Dr. Yu received his Bachelors Degree from California Institute of Technology and his Master’s and Doctorate Degrees from Stanford University, all in electrical engineering. Dr. Yu was one of our founding shareholders. Dr. Yu was a member of our board of directors for the first year after our founding and returned to our board of directors in 2003.
