Name Description

Kathleen Taylor

Ms. Kathleen P. (Katie) Taylor, J.D., serves as Independent Chairman of the Board of Royal Bank of Canada. Ms. Taylor is Chair of the Board of RBC. She is the former President and Chief Executive Officer of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, where she served in a variety of senior leadership roles from 1989 to 2013. She is a director of the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board. Ms. Taylor is Chair of the Board of the Hospital for Sick Children Foundation, the Chair of the Principal’s International Advisory Board of McGill University and a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council of the Schulich School of Business at York University. Ms. Taylor has a Master of Business Administration and an Honorary Doctorate of Laws from the Schulich School of Business, a law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Toronto.

David McKay

Mr. David I. (Dave) McKay serves as President, Chief Executive Officer, Director of Royal Bank of Canada, effective August 1, 2014. Mr. McKay assumed the role of President of RBC in February 2014 and Chief Executive Officer in August 2014. He previously served as Group Head, Personal & Commercial Banking from 2012 to 2014 and as Group Head, Canadian Banking from 2008 to 2012. Mr. McKay started his career at RBC over 26 years ago and has held progressively senior roles. He serves on the Board of Trustees for the Hospital for Sick Children and is Chair of the Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council. He is a director of The Conference Board of Canada and a member of the Catalyst Canada Advisory Board and the Canadian Council of Chief Executives. Mr. McKay holds a Master of Business Administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario and a Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo.

Janice Fukakusa

Ms. Janice R. Fukakusa is no longer a Chief Financial Officer, Chief Administrative Officer of Royal Bank of Canada., effective January 31, 2017. Ms. Fukakusa was appointed to Group Executive in her role as Executive Vice- President and Chief Financial Officer in January 2007. Prior to joining the bank, Ms. Fukakusa worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP where she obtained the professional designations of chartered accountant and chartered business valuator. Ms. Fukakusa obtained her Bachelor of Arts from University of Toronto and holds a Master of Business Administration from Schulich School.

Rod Bolger

Mr. Rod Bolger has been appointed as Chief Financial Officer of the Company effective December 1, 2016. Mr. Bolger joined RBC in 2011 bringing with him significant financial services experience from Bank of America and Citigroup. Prior to that, he spent over a decade with PricewaterhouseCoopers in the U.S. and the U.K. Mr. Bolger was a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the State of New Jersey from 1992 to 2002 and holds a B.S.B.A. Accounting (Cum Laude) from Georgetown University and an M.B.A. from Columbia University. In his current role, Mr. Bolger has developed a strong understanding of RBC’s business strategies through his finance responsibility for Wealth Management, Insurance and Investor & Treasury Services.

Zabeen Hirji

Ms. Zabeen Hirji serves as Chief Human Resources Officer of The Royal Bank of Canada. Prior to her current role, Ms. Hirji was Executive Vice-President, Human Resources of Royal Bank of Canada since February 2007.

Mark Hughes

Mr. Mark Hughes serves as Chief Risk Officer of The Royal Bank of Canada, effective January 10, 2014. Mr. Hughes was appointed to Group Executive in his role as Chief Risk Officer of Royal Bank of Canada effective January 2014. Bruce Ross

Mr. Bruce Ross serves as Group Head - Technology and Operations of The Royal Bank of Canada., with effective January 2014. In his role, Mr. Ross will set the strategic direction and oversee overall management of global technology and operations for RBC, which includes applications development, infrastructure and enterprise operations. A seasoned executive with broad technology and business experience, Mr. Ross joins RBC from IBM, where he was most recently the General Manager, Global Technology Services, North America. As a member of IBM's strategy team which sets the long-term direction of the company, he was responsible for business strategy in the emerging areas of cloud, mobility, social and analytics. His prior roles include General Manager, Global Technology Services, Europe and General Manager and President, IBM Canada. Bruce's areas of responsibility have included providing thought leadership and services to global financial institutions. Mr. Ross has an engineering degree from the University of Western Ontario and has been active in a number of business and community organizations in Canada.

Jennifer Tory

Ms. Jennifer Anne Tory serves as Group Head - Personal & Commercial Banking of the Company. Ms. Tory was appointed to Group Executive in her role as Group Head, Personal & Commercial Banking effective April 2014. Prior to her current role, Ms. Tory was Regional President, Greater Toronto Region since November 2005.

William Beattie

Mr. William Geoffrey (Geoff) Beattie serves as Independent Director of Royal Bank of Canada. Mr. Beattie is Chief Executive Officer of Generation Capital (a private investment firm) and Chairman of Relay Ventures (a venture capital firm). He was Deputy Chairman of Thomson Reuters Corporation from 2000 to 2013 and was President and Chief Executive Officer of The Woodbridge Company Limited (an investment holding company) from 1998 to 2012. Toos Daruvala

Mr. Toos N. Daruvala serves as Independent Director of Royal Bank of Canada., effective January 1, 2015. Mr. Daruvala is a Senior Advisor and Director Emeritus of McKinsey & Company (a management consulting firm). Until his retirement in 2015, he led McKinsey’s risk management practice in the Americas, and led their banking and securities practice in the Americas from 2005 to 2011. During his career at McKinsey he advised senior financial services executives on a broad range of strategic and operational matters. Mr. Daruvala is a member of the Advisory Board of the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan and the Board of the New York Philharmonic. He is an Executive-in-Residence at the Columbia Business School. David Denison

She served as Principal (President) of McGill University from 2003 until 2013 and was previously Vice-President (Research and International Relations), University of Toronto. She is a member of the Canada Foundation for Innovation and the Board of Stanford University’s Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences. She is a Director of the C.D. Howe Institute, and Vice-Chair of the Gairdner Foundation. She also received a PhD in Epidemiology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Thomas Renyi

Mr. Thomas A. Renyi serves as Independent Director of Royal Bank of Canada. Mr. Renyi is a corporate director. He was Executive Chairman of The Bank of New York Mellon from 2007 until he retired in 2008. Prior to 2007 he was Chairman and CEO of The Bank of New York Company, Inc. and the Bank of New York for 10 years. Mr. Renyi’s career spanned almost four decades at The Bank of New York Mellon and its predecessor company. Mr. Renyi is a director of RBC USA Holdco Corporation. He is Trustee Emeriti of the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and Trustee of Catholic Charities of New York. Edward Sonshine

Mr. Edward Sonshine, O.ONT., Q.C., serves as Independent Director of The Royal Bank of Canada. Mr. Sonshine is Chief Executive Officer of RioCan Real Estate Investment Trust (a real estate investment entity) and also served as its President from January 1994 to January 2012. In addition to serving as a director of the public companies listed below, Mr. Sonshine is Vice Chair of the Board of Mount Sinai Hospital as well as a director of various not-for-profit organizations. Mr. Sonshine has a law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toronto. Mr. Sonshine is a Member of the Order of Ontario.

Bridget van Kralingen

Ms. Bridget A. van Kralingen serves as Independent Director of The Royal Bank of Canada. Ms. van Kralingen is Senior Vice-President of IBM Global Business Services, IBM Corporation (an information technology company). From 2010 to 2012 she served as General Manager of IBM North America, and from 2007 to 2010 as General Manager of IBM Global Business Services, North East Europe, Middle East and Africa. Ms. van Kralingen joined IBM in 2004 from Deloitte Consulting, U.S., where she was Managing Partner, Financial Services. Ms. van Kralingen holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa, an Honours degree in Commerce from the University of Johannesburg and a Master of Commerce in Industrial and Organisational Psychology from the University of South Africa.

Thierry Vandal

Mr. Thierry Vandal serves as Independent Director of the Company. Mr. Vandal is President of Axium Infrastructure US Inc. (a portfolio management firm). Mr. Vandal was President and Chief Executive Officer of Hydro-Québec from 2005 until his retirement in 2015. He serves on the boards of École des Hautes Études Commerciales (HEC) Montréal and McGill University. Mr. Vandal holds a Master of Business Administration in Finance from HEC Montréal and an engineering degree from École Polytechnique de Montréal.
