Name Description
Shay, Scott Scott A. Shay has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Signature Bank since its inception. Since 1980, Mr. Shay has been involved in the investment banking and venture capital industries. Mr. Shay has been Managing Director of Ranieri & Co., Inc. and a partner of Hyperion Partners since 1988. Mr. Shay is also a director and officer of a general partner of CardWorks, L.P. Prior to joining Ranieri & Co./Hyperion Partners, he served as a director and a senior member of the mergers and acquisitions department of Salomon Brothers, Inc. Mr. Shay serves on the boards of directors of Bank Hapoalim, our parent, Allied Healthcare International Inc. and Super Derivatives Inc., as well as officer and director of other direct and indirect subsidiaries of Hyperion Partners, L.P. and Hyperion Partners II L.P. From December 1988 until February 2001, Mr. Shay served as a director of the Bank United Corp. He was Chairman of the Bank United Corp. Audit Committee for six years.
DePaolo, Joseph Joseph J. DePaolo has been President and Chief Executive Officer and a Director of Signature Bank since its inception. Mr. DePaolo has also been Chairman of the Board of Directors of Signature Securities Group since its inception. Prior to joining Signature Bank and Signature Securities Group, Mr. DePaolo was a Managing Director and member of the Senior Management Committee of the Consumer Financial Services Division at Republic National Bank, which he joined in 1988. At Republic National Bank, Mr. DePaolo held numerous positions, including First Vice President and Deputy Auditor, First Vice President and Senior Vice President of Consumer Banking, Managing Director, Chairman of Republic Financial Services Corporation (Republic National Bank's retail insurance agency). Prior to joining Republic National Bank, Mr. DePaolo was a senior audit manager with KPMG Peat Marwick. Mr. DePaolo is a member of the New York State Society of CPAs.
Howell, Eric Mr. Howell joined the Bank in 2000 as Vice President and Controller. Additionally, he has been serving as Chief Financial Officer of Signature Securities Group, the Bank's licensed broker-dealer and investment adviser. Prior to joining Signature, Howell was Controller at BlueStone Capital Partners, L.P. and its Trade.com division. Howell also was an Associate Managing Director at Republic National Bank of New York, which he joined in 1992.
Sigona, Mark Mark T. Sigona has been Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Signature Bank since its inception. Prior to joining Signature Bank, Mr. Sigona was a Senior Vice President and head of the Accouting Services Division of the Finance Group at Republic National Bank, which he joined in March 1989. At Republic National Bank, Mr. Sigona held numerous positions, including First Vice President of the Finance Division and Internal Audit Manager. Prior to joining Republic National Bank, Mr. Sigona was a Supervising Senior accountant at KPMG Peat Marwick.
Merlo, Michael Michael Merlo has been Senior Vice President and Chief Credit Officer of Signature Bank since its inception. Prior to joining Signature Bank, he was a Senior Vice President with Fleet Bank. He joined Fleet through the acquisition of NatWest Bank by Fleet Bank, in 1992, and held various credit positions within both the Large Corporate and the Middle Market Group. His last position at Fleet was Head of the Middle Market Group in Long Island with a staff of 26 reporting to him. Mr. Merlo serves on the board of New York Institute of Technology, where he is a member of the Audit, Finance and the Public Affairs committees.
Quinlan, Peter Peter S. Quinlan serves as Treasurer and Senior Vice President of Signature Bank, a role to which he was appointed in November 2006. In this capacity he manages the investment portfolio, interest rate risk and liquidity management functions of the institution. Prior to this appointment, he had been serving as Treasurer of Signature Bank. He also serves as the Chairman of the Company's Asset Liability Management Committee. Prior to joining Signature Bank, he was a divisional Chief Financial Officer of Bank Hapoalim, which he joined in September 2000. He also previously served as the Treasurer of Clarity Holdings and Clarity Bank as well as the Controller of First Trade Union Bank. Gay, James Mr. Gay, one of Long Island's most reputable banking professionals with 32 years of related experience, joins Signature Bank after a 10-year career with Citibank. Most recently, he was Senior Vice President/Region Head for the middle market and small business banking area. Gay began his tenure at Citibank (formerly European American Bank) as Vice President-Risk Management and also served as Senior Vice President-Long Island Corporate and Senior Vice President-Small Business Banking. Prior to Citibank, Gay spent nearly 15 years in various management roles at Barclays Bank and several years with Chemical Bank. Gay, 54, resides in Locust Valley, N.Y., with his wife and two children. He earned his bachelor of science degree in finance from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., and a masters in business administration from Pace University in New York.
Krauser, Steven Mr. Krauser is Senior Vice President, Group Director. He served as Senior Vice President in the business concierge group for five years, was responsible for forging relationships with commercial clients throughout the metropolitan New York area. He managed a team of 20 and focused on networking and business development strategies. Prior, he headed Network Associates, Inc., a privately held consulting group headquartered in Jericho, providing business development services to the financial services and legal industries.
Sabalja, Frank Mr. Sabalja is Senior Vice President, Group Director of the COmpany. He previously served as Senior Vice President and Risk Manager for the taxi medallion and dealer finance business lines at his former employer, where he was responsible for establishing relationships and overseeing the portfolio's credit quality. He directed a team of a dozen professionals for 10 years. Earlier, he was a lender to middle-market companies spanning a range of specialized industries in Suffolk County, Long Island. He also served in similar lending positions at Fleet Bank, Nat West Bank and European American Bank.
Stein, Rick Rick Stein is Group Director, Senior Vice President of the Company. Stein is a recognized banking executive whose financial services career spans nearly 20 years. During this time, he has established a proven track record and earned an outstanding reputation as a veteran banker and leading producer in the industry. Most recently, he was Senior Managing Director in the private banking area at North Fork Bank (now Capital One Bank), working from the 424 Madison Avenue branch (at 49th Street). He spent eight years there serving a broad range of clients including corporations varying in size, real estate entities, physicians and medical groups, law, accounting and other professional services firms and non-profit organizations. He was a top producer in terms of deposit generation. Previously, Stein served in various roles at HSBC and its predecessor bank, Marine Midland Bank, including branch manager, commercial lender and business development officer. While at HSBC, he was also consistently recognized as a top performer. Stein's successful career is accentuated by the 11 years he spent in government and politics as a legislative executive for a New York Congressman. In this capacity, he specialized in housing and economic development.
Sapperstein, Sandra Sandra G. Sapperstein has been appointed as Group Director and Senior Vice President of Signature Bank. Sapperstein was Vice President, Business Relationship Manager overseeing four financial centers in Nassau County. She was the first to be named to this role in a new program introduced by her former institution. Her 25 years of financial services expertise lies mainly in relationship management for small business clients and commercial banking. Previously, Sapperstein was Vice President and Business Advisor at Greenpoint Bank in Hicksville, N.Y., where she supported the commercial business efforts of eight Nassau County branches as well as a team of business specialists.

This encompassed serving theater owners, producers, business managers, productions and actors. Additionally, von Borstel served the banking needs of musical artists, professional athletes and high-net-worth individuals. Most recently, von Borstel spent six years at TD Bank (formerly Commerce Bank) in New York City as a relationship banker. The greater part of her banking career and theatrical specialty emphasis was developed and sustained while at (the former) J.P. Morgan & Co. in New York, where she dedicated 17 years to creating and managing a targeted entertainment private banking business. Under her direction, the institution grew to become a leader in serving the theater community's financial needs. During the course of her extensive, prominent career, von Borstel has managed the banking and financial services needs of a host of Broadway theatrical productions including Cats, Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, Rent, Beauty and the Beast, Sunset Blvd., Mamma Mia and the current hit, Jersey Boys. She is a member of The Broadway Association, a not-for-profit business association devoted to the cultural and economic betterment of Midtown west, which comprises the Broadway theatre district. She is an event advisor for the New York Westminster Kennel Club Dog Museum Benefit. She also was a member of the UJA Jewish Federation Theater Division and a former event advisor for the New York Downtown Hospital Benefit Committee.
Berkowitz, Ronald Mr. Ronald M. Berkowitz is Senior Vice President, Group Director of Signature Bank. Mr. Berkowitz, with more than 14 years of banking experience, and his team join from TD Bank, where he most recently served as Senior Branch Manager at the 42nd Street and Madison Avenue location in Manhattan. This was Commerce Bank's headquarters in New York City prior to its acquisition by TD Bank. In this position, he oversaw business development while handling staff management and operations. Previously, Berkowitz was a Branch Manager at North Fork on 42nd Street near Grand Central Station. He began his career at Republic National Bank as an Assistant Branch Manager.

Ms. Stern, who brings a 12-year banking career to Signature Bank, most recently was Vice President, Business Banking at the Tribeca branch of HSBC where she was responsible for portfolio management and business development. Chowdhury, Abidus Mr. Abidus S. Chowdhury is Senior Vice President, Group Director of Signature Bank. Mr. Chowdhury, a 20-year banking veteran, worked with Stern in Tribeca, where he was Vice President/Branch Manager of one of the largest branches in that bank's network. He joined Republic National Bank in 1996 prior to its acquisition by HSBC in 2000 and served in branch management roles. Mr. Chowdhury began his extensive banking career with Bank Leumi in New York City.
Sloposky, Robert Mr. Robert Sloposky is Senior Vice President, Group Director of Signature Bank. Most recently, Sloposky, who brings 30 years of experience to Signature Bank, was Vice President, Business Banking at HSBC's office at 452 Fifth Avenue where he managed a commercial portfolio consisting primarily of professional services firms. Prior to his banking career, Sloposky owned a real estate investment company for 25 years.
Fine, Robert Mr. Robert Fine is Senior Vice President, Group Director of Signature Bank. Mr. Fine, a veteran banker whose career spans three decades, was Vice President and Senior Business Relationship Manager, handling a commercial portfolio for clients of HSBC's Eighth Avenue branch, one of their largest commercial locations. Previously, he was employed with Atlantic Bank of New York where he was a principal of their equipment leasing subsidiary, Gramercy Leasing.

As President of Consumer Financial Services Division, Mr. Tamberlane managed the national mortgage banking division, retail broker-dealer division and retail branch network, which grew to the third largest branch network in the New York metropolitan area prior to its acquistion. In this capacity, he was also President of two independent bank subsidiaries of Republic National Bank, Manhattan Savings Bank and Williamsburg Savings Bank. Mr. Tamberlane was also a member of the Asset/Liability Management Committee of Republic National Bank. Prior to joining Republic National Bank, he was employed with Bankers Trust.
DelBello, Alfred Alfred DelBello has been a Director of Signature Bank since January 2003. Since July 1995, Mr. DelBello has been a partner in the White Plains, New York-based law firm of DelBello Donnellan Weingarten Tartaglia Wise & Wiederkehr, L.L.P. Mr. DelBello served as Lieutenant Governor of the State of New York from 1983 to 1985, as Westchester County Executive from 1974 to 1983 and as Mayor of Yonkers from 1970 to 1974. Mr. DelBello currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Westchester Land Trust and the Westchester County Association.
Levy, Yacov Yacov Levy has been a Director of Signature Bank since September 2003. Mr. Levy is the founder and Managing Partner of Levy Trajman Management Investment LLC, and KerenTwo LLC venture capital firm. She has also been an Adjunct Professor of Finance at the Columbia University School of Business since January 1, 2004. D'Amato, Alfonse Senator D'Amato is the Managing Director of Park Strategies LLC, the Manhattan and Washington, D.C.-based business consulting firm he started in 1999. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Computer Associates. Senator D'Amato served as a United States Senator for New York for 18 years, from 1981 to 1999. While a member of the Senate, Senator D'Amato served as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs and played an influential role in shaping the financial regulatory agenda of the United States. During his tenure, he was also a member of the Senate Finance Committee. Senator D'Amato's leadership in the Senate encouraged economic growth and urban development. He directed legislation affecting America's financial institutions, public and private housing and foreign trade promotion. Over the years, Senator D'Amato was a proponent of a wide range of issues, including tax-relief initiatives for working, middle-class families, and secured hundreds of millions of dollars for breast cancer research.Senator D'Amato's political career began with the Nassau County Republican Party in 1970 when he was elected public administrator. He was elected town supervisor for Hempstead, N.Y., in 1977 and to the U.S. Senate in 1980. Senator D'Amato, a Brooklyn native, resides in Long Beach, N.Y., with his wife, Katuria. Meshel, Jeffrey Meshel has more than 20 years of experience in lending, managing and acquiring residential and commercial real estate. Currently, he serves as president and co-founder of New York City-based Mercury Capital Corp., Mercury Properties and Mercury Equity Group. Mercury Capital Corp. serves as a resource for bridge loans and mezzanine debt nationwide while Mercury Properties is a fully integrated real estate holding company that owns, operates and manages its own portfolio, consisting of office, industrial, retail and residential property. Mercury Equity Group is a boutique NASD Broker/Dealer specializing in private placements. Meshel is also the founder and chairman of The Strategic Forum, an organization comprised of business leaders spanning diverse backgrounds. The Strategic Forum, in New York City and South Florida, is dedicated to the exchange of ideas, development of long-term personal and business relationships and the facilitation of business opportunities among members and their respective networks.
