Name Description

Michel Demare

Mr. Michel Demare is Non-Executive Chairman of the Board of Syngenta Ltd since April 23, 2013. He is Chairman of the Chairman’s & Governance Committee, the Corporate Responsibility Committee and the Nomination Committee. He is also Chairman of the Syngenta Foundation for Sustainable Agriculture ( Syngenta-Stiftung für Nachhaltige Landwirtschaft). Previously, he had been Chief Financial Officer Europe for Baxter International Inc. He joined Baxter in 2002 after 18 years in the Dow Chemical Company, where he held various treasury and business Chief Financial Officer positions in Europe (including Switzerland) and the United States. He has been Vice Chairman of the Board of UBS since 2010, and is a member of the Board Committee of Swissholdings.

J. Fyrwald

Mr. J. Erik Fyrwald is Chief Executive Officer, Member of the Executive Committee at Syngenta Ltd since June 1, 2016. He was previously President and Chief Executive Officer of Univar, a leading distributor of chemistry and related products and services (2012–2016); President of Ecolab, a cleaning and sanitation, water treatment, and oil and gas products and services provider (2011–2012); and Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Nalco, a water treatment and oil and gas products and services company (2008–2011). He was Group Vice President of the Agriculture and Nutrition Division of the E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company – DuPont (2003–2008). Apart from his functions in Syngenta, J. Erik Fyrwald serves on the Board of Directors for Eli Lilly and Company (including their Science and Technology Committee), CropLife International and the Swiss-American Chamber of Commerce.

Juerg Witmer

Mr. Juerg Witmer has been Non-Executive Vice Chairman of the Board at Syngenta Ltd since 2009. He is Chairman of the Compensation Committee, Member of the Chairman’s & Governance Committee and the Nomination Committee. He is currently Chairman of Givaudan SA and a Director of Zuellig Group Hong Kong. Until March 2012, he was also Chairman of Clariant AG. He joined Roche (1978) in the legal department and subsequently held a number of positions including Assistant to the CEO, General Manager and China Project Manager of Roche Far East based in Hong Kong, Head of Corporate Communications and Public Affairs at Roche headquarters in Basel, Switzerland, and General Manager of Roche Austria. Thereafter he became Chief Executive Officer of Givaudan Roure (1999) and then Chairman of the Board of Directors of Givaudan (2005). He has a doctorate in Law from the University of Zurich, as well as a degree in International Studies from the Graduate Institute of the University of Geneva.

Mark Patrick

Mr. Mark Patrick is Chief Financial Officer, Member of the Executive Committee at Syngenta Ltd since 2016. Prior to his appointment as Chief Financial Officer, Mark Patrick was Head Commercial Finance at Syngenta (2011–2016). Prior to that, he was Head Crop Protection Finance (2008–2011 and 2005–2006), Head Finance North America Crop Protection (2006–2008), Head Business Reporting (2003–2005) and APAC Regional Supply Finance Head Syngenta in Hong Kong. He joined AstraZeneca in 1993. He is a Chartered Management Accountant and also holds an honors degree in Quantity Surveying and a Post Graduate degree in Economics.

Jonathan Parr

Mr. Jonathan Parr is President Global Crop Protection and EAME, LATAM and APAC, Member of the Executive Committee at Syngenta Ltd since 2016. He was Chief Operating Officer (COO) EAME & Latin America (2015–2016). Jeff Rowe

Mr. Jeff Rowe is President Global Seeds and North America, Member of the Executive Committee at Syngenta Ltd since 2016. Prior to his current function as President Seeds and North America, Jeff Rowe was Vice President, Strategic Services and Planning at DuPont Pioneer (2015–2016) and also sat on the company’s Leadership Team (DPLT). Before, he was Regional Director for DuPont Pioneer Europe (2011–2015), Vice President Biotech Affairs and Regulatory (2008–2011) and Corporate Counsel (2001–2008). Jeff Rowe started his career with Pioneer in 1995 in Supply Management. Apart from his function in Syngenta, he has been a member of the U.S.-Ukraine Business Council (USUBC) Executive Committee since 2003.

Laure Roberts

Ms. Laure Roberts is Head Human Resources at Syngenta Ltd since 2016. Prior to her appointment as Head Human Resources, Laure Roberts was Head Global HR Business Partners (2013-2016) and Head HR for the region EAME (2011-2013). Before joining Syngenta, she held a number of different HR leadership functions at Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a worldwide industrial gases company where her last role was Vice President, Human Resources, Europe and Middle East (2004-2010). Laure Roberts started her career in 1988 with Valeo, a leading automotive supplier.

Mark Titterington

Mr. Mark Titterington is Head Corporate Affairs at Syngenta Ltd since 2016. Prior to his appointment as Head Corporate Affairs, Mark Titterington was Head Corporate Affairs EAME (2011-2016) and before that he was Head of the company’s EU Representative Office in Brussels. Before joining Syngenta, he was a Partner in the public affairs and business communications consultancy Lawson Lucas Mendelsohn (1998-2006) and also worked at the United Nations in New York (1997-1998). He is also a co-founder of the Forum for the Future of Agriculture (FFA).

Alexander Tokarz

Mr. Alexander Tokarz is Head Business Development at Syngenta Ltd since 2016. He held a number of commercial and corporate functions at Syngenta including Head of Global Crops & Assets, Head of Vegetables, Head of Corn EAME & Global Oilseeds, and Head of Strategy and Planning. Patricia Malarkey

Ms. Patricia Malarkey is Head Research & Development, Member of the Executive Committee at Syngenta Ltd since 2014. Prior to her current role as Head Research & Development, Patricia Malarkey was Head Research & Development for Lawn & Garden at Syngenta (2012-2013). Before that, she held a number of senior scientific positions in Crop Protection, Seeds and Biotechnology at Syngenta in Europe and the United States. She graduated from the University of Glasgow in Agricultural Chemistry and holds a Master degree in Toxicology from the University of Surrey.

Mark Peacock

Mr. Mark Peacock is Head Global Operations, Member of the Executive Committee at Syngenta Ltd since January 1, 2007. Prior to this he was a Product Manager in Zeneca Agrochemicals and General Manager of the Electro photography Business in Zeneca Specialties. He has a degree in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College, London, and a Master in International Management from McGill University in Montreal.

Eleni Gabre-Madhin

Dr. Eleni Gabre-Madhin, Ph.D. has been Non-Executive Director at Syngenta Ltd since 2013. She is Member of the Corporate Responsibility Committee. She is the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of eleni LLC. She also founded and was CEO of the Ethiopia Commodity Exchange. Previously, she was a Senior Program Leader for Strategy issues at the International Food Policy Research Institute in Addis Ababa and worked for several institutions, such as the World Bank in Washington (2003 – 2004). She holds a BA in Economics from Cornell University, a Master of Science in Agricultural Economics from Michigan State University and a PhD in Applied Economics (Food Research Institute) from Stanford University.

Eveline Saupper

Ms. Eveline Saupper has been Non-Executive Director at Syngenta Ltd since 2013. She is Member of the Compensation Committee at the Company. She is a partner and Member of the Board of Directors of the commercial law firm Homburger AG in Zurich. She is also a Member of the Board of Directors of Baloise Holding AG, Hostettler, Kramarsch & Partner Holding AG and Staeubli Holding AG. Before joining Homburger in 1985, she worked as a tax specialist with Peat Marwick Mitchell (today KPMG) in Zurich (1983–1985). She also serves as Non-executive Director of Baloise Holding AG, Flughafen Zuerich AG and Georg Fischer AG. She holds a degree and PhD in Law from the University of St. Gallen. She is admitted to the Bar of Zurich and is a certified tax expert.

Vinita Bali

Ms. Vinita Bali has been Non-Executive Independent Director at Syngenta Ltd since April 24, 2012. She is Member of the Corporate Responsibility Committee. She has been Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Britannia Industries, India’s public listed premier food company, since 2005. She also serves as a Director on the boards of Titan Industries, Piramal Glass, the Wadia Group Companies and GAIN (Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition). She started her career in India with the Tata Group, and then joined Cadbury India, subsequently working for Cadbury in the UK, Nigeria and South Africa. From 1994 onwards she held a number of senior positions in marketing and general management at The Coca-Cola Company in the USA and Latin America, becoming Head of Corporate Strategy in 2001, and then joined the Zyman Group as Head of its Business Strategy practice in the USA in 2003. She holds an MBA from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management and a Bachelor degree from the University of Delhi.

Stefan Borgas

Mr. Stefan Borgas is Non-Executive Independent Director at Syngenta Ltd since 2009. He is Member of the Compensation and Audit Committee. He is President and Chief Executive Officer of Israel’s ICL Group since September 2012. Prior to this he was CEO of Lonza Group from June 2004 to January 2012 after having spent 14 years with BASF Group where he held various leadership positions in Fine Chemicals and Engineering Plastics in the USA, Germany, Ireland and China. Stefan Borgas is also a member of the Board of the Swiss Management Gesellschaft (SMG). Gunnar Brock

Mr. Gunnar Brock is Non-Executive Independent Director at Syngenta Ltd since April 24, 2012. He is Chairman of the Audit Committee and member of the Governance & Nomination Committee. He is Chairman of Stora Enso, Moelnlycke Health Care and Rolling Optics and a member of the Board of Investor AB, Total SA and Stena AB. He worked for the Tetra Pak group for many years, with spells in Asia, Australia and Europe, returning – after a period as President and Chief Executive Officer of Alfa Laval – to become President and Chief Executive Officer of the Tetra Pak Group, headquartered in Switzerland. From 2002 to 2009 he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Atlas Copco Group. He holds an MBA from the Stockholm School of Economics.

David Lawrence

Mr. David Lawrence has been Non-Executive Independent Director at Syngenta Ltd since 2009. He is Member of the Audit Committee and also Chairman of the Science and Technology Advisory Board. He was Head Research & Development at Syngenta AG from September 2002 until September 30, 2008. Prior to this role, He was Head Research & Technology Projects (2000–Septemer 2002) for Syngenta AG. Prior to this, he was Head International R&D Projects for Zeneca Agrochemicals, having previously held several senior scientific roles. He was a member of the UK Foresight Lead Experience Group on Food and Farming. Currently he is a member of the BBSRC Council and of the UK Industrial Biotechnology Leadership Team. He is also a Board member for Rothamsted Research, Chairman of the UK Biosciences Knowledge Transfer Network Board, and a member of the World Economic Forum Biotechnology Council. He graduated in Chemistry from Oxford University with an MA and Ph.D. in Chemical Pharmacology.
