Name Description

Thomas Etuh

Mr. Thomas Etuh has been Chairman of the Board of Unity Bank Plc since January 23, 2015. Prior to that, he served as Vice Chairman of the Board of the Company. Mr. Etuh has served as a Director in several companies in Nigeria and has chaired a number of board committees in Unity Bank including Finance and General Purpose Committee, Board Governance and Nominations Committee amongst others. He studied Management, Banking and Public Administration at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi and University of Jos respectively. He holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University and is currently pursuing an MBA from the Business School, Netherlands. He has attended several local and international trainings and is an alumnus of the prestigious London Business School, University of Navarra, Barcelona, Spain, and the Lagos Business School. He is Member of various bodies such as the Institute of Directors (IoD) and the Bank Directors Association of Nigeria (BDAN).

Oluwatomi Somefun

Ms. Oluwatomi Ayodele Somefun has been Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Unity Bank Plc since August 11, 2015. She is a graduate of the Obafemi Awolowo University Ife (BA. Education/English) and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN). She is a banker with 33 years of experience 26 years of which were in banking covering all key aspects of Treasury, Investment and Commercial Banking Operations. She has experience in Nigeria’s Financial and Banking sector; and has served at UBA group where she led two subsidiaries of UBA as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director. Prior to this, she served as General Manager and led three business units of UBA Group. Prior to UBA, she worked with two consulting firms: KPMG and Arthur Andersen (now KPMG). Before her appointment, Ms. Somefun was an Executive Director at Unity Bank Plc responsible for Lagos and South West regional operations, and oversight on Treasury and Financial Institutions Division. She has undergone Executive Training & Advanced Management Programs at INSEAD Fontainebleau, Harvard Business School and University of Columbia Business School.

Aminu Babangida

Alhaji Aminu Babangida has been Vice Chairman of the Board of Unity Bank Plc since January 23, 2015. He served as Non-Executive Director of the Company from 2011. He is Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Phoenix Energy, and Team Member of the El-Amin International School. He has also worked on the trading floor of Trafigura BV. He attended Regents Business School, London and Westminster Business School London where he obtained a BA in International Business and MA in International Business Management respectively. He is Member of the Institute of Directors (IoD) and the Bank Directors Association of Nigeria (BDAN) and has attended various local and international courses.

Dahiru Chadi

Mr. Dahiru Chadi has served as Executive Director, Enterprise Risk Management of Unity Bank Plc since April 25, 2014. He had his early education in Jama’are and Misau in Bauchi State. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Textile Science and Technology from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1985, and also obtained a Masters of Business Administration degree in Banking and Finance in 1998. He had his National Youth Service program at Prospect Textile Mills Ltd, Ilorin between August 1985 and July 1986. He was retained at the Company and was made Assistant Production Supervisor, a position he held between August 1986 and August 1988. He joined the Bank of Industry (formerly Nigerian Industrial Development Bank Limited NIDB) as Industrial Engineer I between September 1989 and February 1992, and Industrial Engineer II between September 1988 and August 1989. He joined Afribank International Ltd (Merchant Bankers) as Assistant Manager (Credit Department) between February 1992 and June 1993, Deputy Manager (Credit Department) between July 1993 and December 1995, and Manager and Head of Credit Department between January 1986 and November 1996. He teamed up with United Bank for Africa Plc as Senior Manager (Corporate Banking Sector) between November 1996 and August 1997, Senior Manager (Loan Recovery) between August 1997 and September 1998, Senior Manager (Risk Management) between September 1998 and February 2000 and Principal Manager (Risk Management) between March 2000 and September 2003. In September 2003, he joined FBN (Merchant Bankers) Ltd as Assistant General Manager and Head, Enterprise Risk Management, a position he held till December 2005. From January 2006 to August 2009, he was Assistant General Manager and Head, Credit Analysis and Processing (CAP), First Bank of Nigeria Plc and became a DGM from April 1, 2009. From April 2009 to date, he has been the Deputy General Manager and Head, Lending.

Aisha Abraham

Ms. Aisha Azumi Abraham serves as Executive Director, Secretariat & Services / Company Secretary of Unity Bank Plc. She has experience in legal practice spanning solicitor-ship, legal education and company secretarial practice. She was a Senior Partner in Baiyee, Abubakar & Co where she was involved in the setting up of Small Scale Industries and Small Scale Businesses. She was a Graduate Assistant in the Faculty of Law, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria from 1985 to 1986. She was also in the Legal and Company Secretariat Department of NAL Merchant Bank Plc between 1986 and 1988, Credit & Marketing Department of Ivory Merchant Bank 1990, Company Secretary / Legal Advisor of Shelter Savings & Loans Limited 1992-1994. She was also one of Directors of Urban Development Bank of Nigeria in 1992 and was Company Secretary / Legal Advisor of First Interstate Bank Plc 2002 - 2006, one of the nine banks that made up Unity Bank Plc. She was the Project Secretary and the Secretary to the Steering Committee and Committee of Directors of the Banks in-consolidation that became Unity Bank Plc. She is currently the Group Company Secretary of Unity Bank Plc and a Director in Unity Registrars, Limited (a subsidiary company of the Bank). She obtained an LL.B degree from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, 1982 and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1983. Ms. Abraham has been Secretary of the Board of Unity Bank Plc from inception in 2006. She is Secretary of the Risk Management Committee of the Company.

Mr. Elisha Olanrewaju Fagbohun serves as Executive Director, Lagos & West of Unity Bank Plc. He began his career with the former Habib Bank in 1985. He has also worked in BankPHB and Spring Bank Plc. He obtained a B. Sc. in Psychology from the University of Lagos in 1984 and then an MBA (Banking & Finance). He is an alumnus of the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and IMD, Switzerland.

Ismaila Galadanchi

Mr. Ismaila Abdullahi Galadanchi serves as Executive Director, North West of Unity Bank Plc. He has worked at Delliote, Haskins & Sells, Strategic Ideas in Management, Allied Bank of Nigeria Plc and Intercity Bank. He has been at Unity Bank Plc since its inception in 2006 and was involved in its consolidation. He holds a B. Sc. in Accountancy and an MBA from Bayero University, Kano.

Ibrahim Mohammed

Mr. Ibrahim Tanko Mohammed serves as Executive Director, Central of Unity Bank Plc. In the past, he worked for First Bank of Nigeria Plc, Afribank Nigeria Plc, Habib Bank Nigeria Ltd and Intercity Bank Plc. Prior to his current post, he was Head of Human Capital and Divisional Head of Corporate Services at Unity Bank Plc. He holds a B. Sc. in Agric Economics from Ahmadu Bello University and an M. Sc. in Banking & Finance from Bayero University, Kano.

Temisan Tuedor

Mr. Temisan Tuedor has served as Executive Director of Unity Bank Plc since June 9, 2015. He holds a B. Sc. in Business Administration from the University of Lagos (1987) before obtaining a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (1992). He also has a certificate in Advanced Management Program from Fontainebleau, France, October, 2011. His professional career started with Chartered Bank Limited as a Credit Analyst, Corporate Banking Division from (1993 – 1998) before joining the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) in 1998 as Estate Facility Officer, Bony Island. He joined Prudent Bank Limited in 2000 as a Pioneer Branch Manager and rose to become the Head, Special Task Force, Niger Delta Axis from 2004 - 2005. He also spent three years with Oceanic Bank International Plc (now Ecobank Plc) where he became the General Manager & Group Head, Apapa and Lagos Mainland zone from 2005 - 2008 before teaming up with Bank PHB Plc (now Keystone Bank Ltd) as a Senior Vice President and Internal Managing Director, Apapa from 2008 - 2009. On joining Skye Bank Plc, between 2009 - 2012, he was the General Manager, Corporate and Commercial Banking both in Ikeja and Apapa/Lagos Mainland, charged with the responsibility to grow the Bank’s market share and profitability within these areas. He is a member of Assets and Liability Management Committee (ALCO), Management Credit Committee (MCC), Bank Strategic Management Committee among other numerous committees. He was the General Manager, South-South (Rivers, Bayelsa, Edo and Delta States) Region of Skye Bank Plc before this appointment.

Priya Heal

Ms. Priya Heal has served as Non-Executive Director of Unity Bank Plc since February 23, 2015. Ms. Priya Heal holds a Law degree (LLB) from Kings College and was called to the Bar in 1998. She is an alumnus of Yale University, Connecticut, USA and Universitaet Passau, Germany. She is also a member of the Honorable Society of Lincoln’s Inn. Ms. Heal is the Managing Director, Chronos Group, Dubai/Germany and co-founded Chronos Asset Management. She also spearheaded the growth of the group by establishing Chronos M&A. Ms. Heal also served as the Managing Director, Filterinvest, Holland and Restructuring Consultant, Competition Authority, London, UK. She is a goal oriented achiever whose work goes beyond geographical boundaries. She has worked in multi-cultural environments like Dubai, Germany, London, South Africa and Holland. Ms. Priya Heal is a member of the World Economic Forum.

Dauda Iliya

Mr. Dauda N. Iliya has served as Non-Executive Director of Unity Bank Plc since February 23, 2015. Mr. Dauda Iliya is a graduate of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, B. Sc. Business Administration and also holds an MBA from the same institution. He is an Honorary Senior Member (HCIB), Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), Fellow, Institute of Economists of Nigeria (INEN) and a Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management – (NIM) and Certified Credit Administrators (AICCA). He began his career in 1984 as a Tax Inspector with the Ministry of Finance, Borno State before venturing into banking. He worked with African International Bank Ltd, Fortune International Bank Plc, International Trust Bank Plc, Inland Bank Nigeria Plc and Wema Bank Plc where he served as an Executive Director appointed by the CBN. Mr. Iliya is a veteran banker with cognate experience of over three decades. He has been exposed to critical banking operations such as Branch Operations, Risk Asset assessment, Loan Recovery, Regulatory Management, Debt Recovery, Audit & Inspection, Treasury Marketing and Corporate, Consumer & Commercial Banking. He attended several local and international trainings and is an alumnus of the Lagos Business School.

Ibrahim Kaugama

Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammad Abega Kaugama serves as Non-Executive Director of Unity Bank Plc. He was a teacher employed by the Federal Ministry of Education, Kirin Yawuri (2005 - 2007) and Kaugama Local Government Caretaker Chairman (2007 - 2008). He was educated at the Arabic Teacher's College, College of Education, Gumel, Kano and Federal College of Education, Kano, where he obtained a Bachelors degree in Education.

Oluseun Mabogunje

Eng. Oluseun A. Mabogunje serves as Non-Executive Director of Unity Bank Plc. He is Chief Executive Officer of Integrated Systems Limited. He is a Director at Crystal Gold Microfinance Bank Shomolu and Ancient International, amongst others. He is an Electrical / Electronic Engineer trained at Obafemi Awolowo University. He is a Member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria.

Oluwafunsho Obasanjo

Dr. Oluwafunsho Obasanjo serves as Non-Executive Director of Unity Bank Plc. She is a scientist. She holds an M. Sc. in Medicinal Chemistry from University College London and a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of East Anglia.

Hakeem Shagaya

Mr. Hakeem Shagaya serves as Non-Executive Director of Unity Bank Plc. He is a one-time advisor to Nigeria's Minister of State (Finance) and a certified project manager. Previously he worked with United Bank of Africa and Bolmus Group Nigeria Limited. He holds a B. Sc. in Information Management and Business Studies from the University of Sheffield and a graduate degree in Management of Science, Technology and Innovation from Manchester Business School.

Yabawa Wabi

Hajiya Yabawa Lawan Wabi, mni, has served as Non-Executive Director of Unity Bank Plc since February 23, 2015. She holds a B. Sc. in Accounting from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. She is a member of a number of professional associations such as the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Nigeria, Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria and National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS. She is a Fellow, Association of National Accountants of Nigeria. She held positions such as Senior Accountant, National Agricultural Land Dev. Authority (NALDA) Maiduguri; Assistant Chief Accountant, Ministry of Health, Borno State; Chief Accountant, Ministry of Health, Borno State; Asst. Director of Finance & Accounts; Head of Admin. & Finance; Deputy Director of Finance & Accounts; Director of Finance & Accounts, Ministry of Works & Housing, Borno State. She was the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Min. of Local Government & Chieftaincy Affairs, Borno State. She also served on the Board of Main-street Bank (now Skye Bank) as a Non-Executive Director. Hajiya Wabi has spent several years in the service of the nation, both at the state and federal levels.

Richard Asabia

Mr. Richard Gboyega Asabia serves as Non-Executive Independent Director of Unity Bank Plc. He has been Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Interstate Securities Limited since 1993. Prior to joining Interstate in 1989, he worked with NAL Merchant Bank Plc, Dr. F.A. Ajayi and Co and NCR (Nigeria) Limited. He has attended the London School of Economics and Political Science (University of London), Nigeria Law School and the University of Wales where he obtained an MBA.

Sam Okagbue

Mr. Sam N. Okagbue has served as Non-Executive Independent Director of Unity Bank Plc since February 23, 2015. A legal professional, Mr. Sam Okagbue is the Managing Partner and founding member of the law firm; George Ikoli & Okagbue (GI&O). He holds an LL.B from University of Ife, Ile-Ife and an LLM from University of London, London School of Economics and has a career spanning over three decades beginning with the National Assembly of Nigeria where he served as the Secretary to Senate Committee on Defense from 1981 – 1982. Mr. Okagbue has also served in various legal capacities some of which are: Associate in the law firm of Bentley Edu & Co.; Company Secretary and Legal Adviser, Fidelity Union Merchant Bank Limited and Partner in the law firm of Bentley Edu & Co. before becoming Managing Partner. He was the Legal advisor; African Institute of Petroleum and Consultant to International Finance Corporation. Mr. Okagbue is a member of several professional bodies amongst which are International Lawyers Network (ILN), International Trademark Association (INTA), Institute of Trademark Agents (ITMA), Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), and Nigerian Bar Association. He has been a Notary Public (Federal Republic of Nigeria) since 1992.
