Biographies

Name Description

David Abney

Mr. David P. Abney is Chairman of the Board, Chief Executive Officer and Director of the Company. He becomes the 11th chief executive officer in the 107-year history of the company. He began his UPS career in 1974 as a part-time package loader. Over the course of his 40-year career, he held various operational positions leading to his current position. As chief operating officer, Abney had responsibility for UPS logistics, sustainability, and engineering, leading the company's significant investment in alternative fuel fleets, and implementing programs to expand the company's total freight volume. In that role, he directed the UPS transportation network serving more than 200 countries and territories. Prior to becoming chief operating officer, Abney served as president of UPS International where he led the expansion of the company's global logistics capabilities. In that role, Abney oversaw several global acquisitions to expand service capacity and local market presence. His international experience includes leading the logistics and freight divisions in Canada and Latin America as well as heading global freight forwarding and customs brokerage. His other significant assignments over the course of his long-tenured career include serving as president of SonicAir, a same-day delivery service that signaled UPS's move into the service parts logistics sector, and leading the team that completed one of the company's largest acquisitions - the Fritz Companies. A native of Greenwood, he earned his bachelor's degree in business administration from Delta State University. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Delta State University Alumni Foundation. He is also a Trustee of The UPS Foundation, UPS's charitable arm, as well as a member of the Board of Directors of Johnson Controls, Inc., Airlines for America, and the Coalition of Service Industries, which represents service businesses and seeks to lower barriers to world trade.

Richard Peretz

Mr. Richard N. Peretz is Chief Financial Officer, Senior Vice President, Treasurer of the Company., effective July 1, 2015. Mr. Peretz currently serves as UPS’s Vice President, Corporate Controller and Treasurer and will continue serving in that role until assuming the role of Chief Financial Officer on July 1, 2015. Mr. Peretz has served in several operational and corporate leadership positions within the Finance staff since joining the company in 1981. He was named Corporate Controller in 2013, and expanded his role to include Corporate Treasurer in 2014. He currently has responsibility for financial reports and plans, tax, general accounting, treasury, investments and mergers and acquisitions across all UPS business units. He served as Corporate Finance Vice President from 2007 to 2013, where he oversaw a broad range of finance staff areas. Mr. Peretz also served as the Company’s International Chief Financial Officer from 2003 to 2007.

Teri McClure

Ms. Teri Plummer McClure is Chief Human Resource Officer, Senior Vice President - Global Human Resources and Labor of the Company. She was Chief Legal Officer and Senior Vice President, Human Resources of United Parcel Service Inc. since 2015. Previously, McClure was the Senior Vice President of Legal, Compliance and Public Affairs, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary (2006 - 2014), Corporate Legal Department Manager (2005 - 2006).

Alan Gershenhorn

Mr. Alan Gershenhorn is Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer of United Parcel Service Inc. Alan Gershenhorn directs global sales, customer relationship management, segment marketing, product development, electronic commerce, revenue management, marketing research and corporate strategy. Under his direction, UPS is focused on deepening customer relationships through an expanded offering of supply chain and technology-based services and solutions. Gershenhorn is also a member of the UPS Management Committee, which is responsible for the day-to-day management of the company. Prior to his current position, Gershenhorn served as president of UPS International where he was responsible for the UPS international package, freight forwarding, customs brokerage and logistics businesses. Gershenhorn also has served in several other leadership positions. These include the UPS Corporate Strategy Group, where he was responsible for the company's retail strategy and operations worldwide and the integration of Mail Boxes Etc. (now primarily recognized as The UPS Store); the president of UPS Canada; the president of UPS Supply Chain Solutions (SCS) Global Transportation and Shared Services; and the president of UPS SCS operations in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa. He received a degree in finance from the University of Houston.

Norman Brothers

Mr. Norman Michael Brothers, Jr. is Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of the Company., effective January 1, 2016. He will join the UPS Management Committee, the company's senior-most leadership group. Brothers joined UPS in 2000. He most recently served as the company's Vice President and Deputy General Counsel. He has led diverse legal practice areas including litigation, corporate, business development, regulatory compliance and international. He also has managed the global privacy team and the office of the corporate secretary. Before joining UPS, he was a military prosecutor in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General's Corps and practiced at the international law firm King & Spalding. Brothers received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania and law degree from Emory University School of Law.

Kate Gutmann

Ms. Kate Gutmann is Senior Vice President - Worldwide Sales and Solutions of the Company. Gutmann, a native of Troy, N.Y., is a 24-year UPS veteran. She joined the company in 1989 as a marketing intern while attending Siena College and over the course of her distinguished career has served in various sales and marketing roles, including vice president of marketing for the Europe, Middle East and Africa Region. Gutmann was promoted to her current position as president of worldwide sales in 2011. She is active in the community and serves on the board of directors for the Women Presidents' Organization.

James Barber

Mr. James Jay Barber Jr. is Senior Vice President; President, UPS International of United Parcel Service Inc. As president of UPS International since May 2013, Jim Barber oversees the company's business operations in more than 220 countries and territories outside of the U.S. Barber is also a member of the UPS Management Committee, which is responsible for the day-to-day management of the company. Barber previously served as President of UPS Europe, with responsibility for UPS operations in more than 120 countries and territories in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Under Jim's leadership, UPS executed a growth strategy that included expanding its capabilities and enhancing the customer experience. As part of this growth strategy, Jim led key acquisitions such as Pieffe Group, an Italy-based pharmaceutical logistics company, and Lynx Express, one of the U.K.'s independent parcel carriers. As part of UPS's growing focus on e-commerce, Jim led the acquisition of Kiala S.A., a company with a network of package collection points in France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Spain. In 2002, Jim was appointed controller of the Southeast (U.S.) Region and then was named vice president of finance and accounting for the Europe Region, based out of Brussels, Belgium. After a special assignment as a package division manager in Germany, Jim was named as managing director of UPS U.K. & Ireland in 2006. Jim returned to Brussels in 2010 as chief operating officer for UPS Europe, Middle East and Africa. Jim holds a degree in finance from Auburn University.

Mark Wallace

Mr. Mark Wallace is Senior Vice President - Global Engineering and Sustainability of the Company. Wallace was previously president of UPS Supply Chain Solutions. In this role he led the company's global contract logistics operations which serve customers in numerous industry segments with optimized supply chain planning, light assembly, warehousing and distribution services. Before taking over UPS Supply Chain Solutions, Wallace served as vice president for Industrial Engineering, since 2012. His broad responsibilities included oversight of industrial engineering for capacity planning, package and hub operations, methods and work measurement, technology support and daily network and contingency planning. Prior to this position, he directed all international industrial engineering to support UPS's non-U.S. operations and network planning. Wallace began his UPS career in 1986 as an engineering specialist and was assigned as a driver in Arizona. He has advanced through various engineering and operations leadership positions in the West, Southwest and North Central parts of the U.S., including planning and IE coordination for UPS's largest ground processing hub outside Chicago and nationwide deployment of new technology systems for dispatch planning and pre-load simplification. A Minnesota native, Wallace holds a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from Arizona State University, in Tempe, Arizona.

Juan Perez

Mr. Juan Perez is Chief Information Officer of the company. He has 26 years of UPS experience in U.S. Domestic, International, and Supply Chain Solutions (SCS). He began his UPS career in 1990 as an intern in Los Angeles, CA and held numerous assignments of increasing responsibility across several UPS business units in operations, industrial engineering, quality, and technology. Perez spent the previous 6 years in Information Systems (I.S.) leadership roles ranging from supply chain solutions applications, to operational and customer resource management technologies, as well as overall coordination of I.S. activities for multiple international regions. Perez was a key member of the group that defined the foundation for UPS operational technology tools and strategies used today to facilitate driver scheduling, package delivery operations, and many technology-enabled services. Perez also worked with the IT team that developed the On-Road Integrated Optimization and Navigation (ORION) system used by UPS operations to optimize delivery routes to improve service and efficiency. Orion has been recognized for exceptional innovation by several technology and science organizations and publications. In 2013, Perez was recognized by Computerworld as a Premier 100 IT Leader. Perez holds a BS in Industrial Engineering from the University of Southern California and an MS in Computer and Manufacturing Engineering. He has contributed to several patents in support of UPS' intellectual property. Perez actively serves as coordinator for the UPS Latino Business Resource Group (BRG), a company-sponsored program that supports diversity within our communities, customers, people, and suppliers.

William Johnson

Mr. William R. (Bill) Johnson is Lead Independent Director of the Company. He was Independent Director of United Parcel Service, Inc. Bill served as Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of the H.J. Heinz Company, a global packaged foods manufacturer, from 2000 until his retirement in 2013. He became President and Chief Operating Officer of Heinz in 1996, and assumed the position of President and Chief Executive Officer in 1998. Bill also serves on the Board of Directors of Emerson Electric Company and PepsiCo, Inc.

Rodney Adkins

Mr. Rodney C. Adkins is s Independent Director of United Parcel Service Inc. Rod is President of 3RAM Group LLC, a private company specializing in capital investments, business consulting and property management services. Rod previously served as IBM’s Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategy before retiring in 2014. Rod was previously Senior Vice President, Systems and Technology Group, a position he held since 2009, and Senior Vice President of STG development and manufacturing, a position he held since 2007. In his over 30-year career with IBM, Rod held a number of other development and management roles, including general management positions for the PC Company, UNIX Systems and Pervasive Computing. In addition, Rod currently serves on the Board of Directors of Avnet, Inc., W.W. Grainger, Inc. and PPL Corporation.

Michael Burns

Mr. Michael J. Burns is Independent Director of United Parcel Service Inc. Michael was the Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President of Dana Corporation from 2004 until his retirement in 2008. He joined Dana Corporation in 2004 after 34 years with General Motors Corporation. Michael had served as President of General Motors Europe since 1998. Dana Corporation filed a voluntary petition under Chapter 11 of the federal bankruptcy laws in March 2006. On January 31, 2008, Dana Corporation emerged from Chapter 11, prior to Michael’s departure from Dana Corporation.

Candace Kendle

Dr. Candace Kendle is Independent Director of United Parcel Service Inc. Candace is the co-founder and was, until 2011, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Kendle International Inc., a global clinical research organization. Prior to founding Kendle International, she earned a doctorate in pharmacy from the University of Cincinnati and has held senior faculty positions at the University of North Carolina Schools of Pharmacy and Medicine; the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine; the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science; and the University of Cincinnati College of Pharmacy. Candace serves on the Board of Directors of Emerson Electric Company.

Ann Livermore

Ms. Ann M. Livermore is Independent Director of United Parcel Service Inc. Ann serves as a director of the Hewlett Packard Enterprise Company, after retiring as an executive of HP in 2011. In her last operational role at HP, Ann was Executive Vice President in charge of the server, storage, networking, software and services business. Ann joined HP in 1982 and held a variety of management positions in marketing, sales, research and development, and business management before being elected a corporate vice president in 1995. Ann is also a lecturer at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Rudolph Markham

Mr. Rudolph H. P. Markham is Independent Director of United Parcel Service Inc. Rudy was the Financial Director of Unilever from 2000 through his retirement in 2007. He joined Unilever in 1968. From 1989 through 1998 he was based in East Asia where he held a series of increasing responsibilities, ultimately serving as Business Group President North East Asia based in Singapore. Rudy joined the board of Unilever as Strategy and Technology Director, became a member of its Executive Committee in 1998 and was subsequently appointed as Financial Director. In 2007, he retired from the board of Unilever and as Chief Financial Officer. Rudy is a director of AstraZeneca PLC and Legal and General PLC. He also is vice chairman of the supervisory board of Corbion, N.V., formerly CSM, N.V. Rudy is a British citizen and he currently resides in the U.K.

Clark Randt

Ambassador Clark T. Randt, Jr. is Independent Director of United Parcel Service, Inc. Sandy is a former U.S. ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, where he served from 2001 until 2009. From 1994 through 2002, he was a partner resident in the Hong Kong office of Shearman & Sterling, a major international law firm, where he headed the firm’s China practice. From 1982 through 1984, Sandy served as First Secretary and Commercial Attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing. In 1974, he was the China representative of the National Council for United States-China Trade, and from 1968 to 1972, he served in the U.S. Air Force Security Service. Currently, Sandy is President of Randt & Co. LLC, a company that advises firms with interests in China. Sandy also serves on the boards of Wynn Resorts, Ltd., Valmont Industries, Inc. and Qualcomm Incorporated.

John Stankey

Mr. John T. Stankey is Independent Director of the Company. John has served as CEO, AT&T Entertainment Group, since 2015. He is responsible for leading strategy, marketing and operations around the development and distribution of a premier entertainment experience for customers through multiple channels anywhere. John previously served as Group President and Chief Strategy Officer of AT&T from 2012 through 2015 where he had responsibility for AT&T’s strategy and corporate development functions. John also served as President and CEO of AT&T Business Solutions, where he was responsible for serving AT&T’s business customers worldwide. John has held a number of other roles at AT&T, including President and Chief Executive Officer of AT&T Operations, Chief Technology Officer and Chief Information Officer. He is a member of the Cotton Bowl Athletic Association and is on the Board of Visitors at the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA.

Carol Tome

Ms. Carol B. Tome is Independent Director of United Parcel Service Inc. Carol has been Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of The Home Depot, Inc., one of the world’s largest retailers, since 2001. In 2007 Carol assumed the additional role of Executive Vice President — Corporate Services. Prior to that, she had been Senior Vice President — Finance and Accounting/Treasurer since 2000. From 1995 until 2000, she served as Vice President and Treasurer.

Kevin Warsh

Mr. Kevin M. Warsh is Independent Director of United Parcel Service, Inc. Kevin was a member of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve from 2006 until 2011. He currently serves as a distinguished visiting fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution and a lecturer at its Graduate School of Business. In addition, Kevin provides strategic consulting and advisory services to a range of businesses. From 2002 until 2006, Kevin served at the White House as President George W. Bush’s special assistant for economic policy and as executive secretary of the National Economic Council. Kevin was previously employed by Morgan Stanley & Co. in New York, becoming vice president and executive director of the company’s Mergers and Acquisitions Department.
