Biographies

Name Description

Richard Needham

Retired Honourable Sir Richard Francis Needham is Non-Executive Chairman of the Board of Vane Minerals Plc. Sir Richard has public company Board experience, and is currently Chairman of Avon Rubber Plc, Vice Chairman of NEC Europe and a Director of Dyson Limited. Previously he has been a Director of GEC Plc, Meggitt Plc and he was chairman of Biocompatibles Plc for six years. Sir Richard was a Member of Parliament for 18 years and a Minister for 10 years. He spent seven years from 1985-1992 as the Minister responsible for the regeneration of Northern Ireland's economy. During that time, he privatised Northern Ireland's electricity service and was the provinces Minister for Energy. In 1992 Sir Richard was subsequently promoted to Minister of Trade where he was responsible, under Michael Heseltine, for restructuring the UK's external trade and export strategy. During this period he took trade missions, many of them energy related, to 42 different countries.

David Newton

Mr. David John Newton is no longer Chief Executive Officer, Executive Director of Vane Minerals Plc., effective July 31, 2013. He is a chartered accountant with 14 years of experience in corporate finance and capital markets. He has completed numerous transactions, including fund raisings for both private and public businesses, IPOs, acquisitions and disposals with specific experience in quoted stocks in the natural resources sector. He qualified as a chartered accountant with Ernst & Young in 1997 and is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investments. In addition to Ernst & Young, he has worked for the London Stock Exchange plc, Williams de Broe plc, Seymour Pierce plc and most recently XCAP Securities plc.

Kristopher Hefton

Mr. Kristopher K. Hefton is Chief Operating Officer, Executive Director of Vane Minerals Plc. He has been with Vane Minerals since 2004. Mr. Hefton, who is the COO of VANE’s uranium division, VANE Minerals (US) LLC, and is based in the US, has considerable experience as a uranium geologist and is a valued addition to the VANE board. He joined the VANE group having previously worked for Freeport-McMoran, Barrick Gold Corporation, Homestake Mining Company and Energy Fuels Nuclear where he gained his initial experience in uranium exploration on the Colorado Plateau.

Leavitt Arnold

Mr. Leavitt Clark Arnold is Executive Director of Vane Minerals Plc. He is founding member of the company, was awarded a graduate tuition scholarship at the University of Arizona from 1962-67 where he was awarded an M.S. degree in Geology in 1964 and a Ph.D. in 1971. Following completion of course work in 1967, he joined the firm of J. David Lowell and Associates where he was principally engaged in contract mineral exploration. Clark continued with David Lowell until 1986. During this time their most notable achievement was development and implementation of a statistically based method of porphyry copper prospecting which eventually led to two discoveries: The Escondida mine in Chile, and the Santa Cruz deposit in Arizona. From 1986 to 1989 Clark was associated with Steven Van Nort in a consulting firm known as Western Metals Associates that was principally involved in base and precious metal exploration in southwestern U.S. Chile and Ecuador. From 1989 to the present Clark has been self-employed in a consulting practice focused on mineral exploration that included a long term consulting arrangement with Freeport McMoRan Copper and Gold Co. at their Grasberg mine in Irian Jaya (now Papua) Indonesia. Clark is well regarded in the industry and has a number of publications deal with various aspects of the minerals business.

Steven Van Nort

Mr. Steven D. Van Nort is Executive Director of Vane Minerals Plc. He is Co-Founder of the company, read geology at Amherst College, Massachusetts, obtaining his B.A. Degree in Geology in 1962, and he then read economic geology at Stanford University, California, obtaining his M.S. degree in Economic Geology in 1964. He worked for The M.A. Hanna Company, 1964,1983, as a geologist and project manager (during the Santa Cruz porphyry copper discovery in 1975) for 19 years. In 1983, he joined David Lowell at Lowell Mineral Exploration where he worked closely with L. Clark Arnold until 1986. From 1986-89, Steven was associated with Clark in a consulting practice involving mineral exploration with emphasis on precious metals in Southwestern U.S., Chile and Ecuador. Steven then joined Freeport-McMoran Copper and Gold Inc. where he was senior vice president of exploration-metals until October 2000. He managed Freeport Indonesia's geological programs, which included reserve development at the famous Grasberg mine, a copper/gold mining complexes. He led the team that exposed BRE-X's multi-billion dollar gold scam in the spring of 1997 at Busang, Indonesia. He was also manager of Freeport's worldwide exploration activities.

Matthew Idiens

Mr. Matthew Charles Idiens is Chief Executive Officer, Company Secretary, Director of Vane Minerals Plc. He has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of the Company effective July 31, 2013. He has resigned from his role as an executive Director and has been appointed as a Non-Executive Director of the Company with effect from 20 June 2012. He worked for Laing and Cruickshank Investment Management, the stockbroking arm of the Credit Lyonnais Group, for 7 years as a fund manager. He has considerable knowledge of the global equity and bond markets and also experience in company flotations. He previously worked in the early 90's raising funds for mining operations in South America. He has also co-founded two other exploration companies in West Africa.
