Autodesk, Inc., incorporated on May 10, 1994, is a design software and service company, offering business solutions through technology products and services. The Company serves in the 3D design, architecture, engineering and construction; manufacturing; and digital media, consumer and entertainment industries. Autodesk operates in four segments: platform solutions and emerging business (PSEB); architecture, engineering and construction (AEC); manufacturing (MFG), and media and entertainment (M&E). The principal products and services of these segments include flagship products, which include AutoCAD, AutoCAD LT, AutoCAD Civil 3D, AutoCAD Mechanical, AutoCAD Map, AutoCAD Architecture, Maya and 3ds Max; Suites, which includes Autodesk Product Design Suites, Autodesk Building Design Suites, Autodesk Infrastructure Design Suites and AutoCAD Design Suites, and New and Adjacent products, which include Autodesk Creative Finishing products, Autodesk Moldflow products and Autodesk Alias Design products.

Platform Solutions and Emerging Business

The Company’s PSEB segment includes its design product, AutoCAD. It's AutoCAD product is a platform product that underpins its design product offerings for all the industries it serve. It's AutoCAD product also provides a platform for its developer partners to build custom solutions for a range of diverse design-oriented markets. The segment’s principal product includes AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT.

Architecture, Engineering and Construction

The Company’s AEC software products helps building, civil infrastructure, process plant and construction projects are designed, built and managed. It's AEC solutions include advanced technology for building information modeling (BIM), AutoCAD-based design and documentation productivity software, sustainable design analysis applications, collaboration and project management solutions. The segment’s principal product includes Autodesk Building Design Suites, Autodesk Revit, Autodesk Infrastructure Design Suites, AutoCAD Civil 3D and AutoCAD Map 3D.


The Company’s MFG segment provides manufacturers in automotive and transportation, industrial machinery, consumer products and building products with comprehensive digital prototyping solutions that bring together product data from all phases of the product development through production process to develop a single digital model created in Autodesk Inventor software. MFG’s principal product includes Autodesk Product Design Suites, Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD Mechanical and Autodesk Moldflow.

Media and Entertainment

The Company’s M&E segment is comprised of two product groups: Animation and Creative Finishing. Animation products are sold as software only and provide tools for digital sculpting, modeling, animation, effects, rendering, and compositing for design visualization, visual effects and games production. Creative Finishing products are primarily sold as turnkey solutions for editing, finishing and visual effects design and color grading. sIt's principal product in its M&E segment’s Animation and Creative Finishing product groups includes Autodesk Maya, Autodesk 3ds Max and Autodesk Flame, Autodesk Smoke, and Autodesk Lustre.
