Associated British Foods plc, incorporated on October 20, 1934, is a diversified international food, ingredients and retail group with sales. The Company operates in 47 countries across Europe, southern Africa, the Americas, Asia and Australia. The Company operates in five segments, including Sugar, Agriculture, Retail, Grocery and Ingredients. Grocery segment manufactures grocery products. Sugar segment grows and process of sugar beet and sugar cane for sale to industrial users and to Silver Spoon. Agriculture segment manufactures animal feeds and the provision of other products for the agriculture sector. Ingredients segment manufactures bakers’ yeast, bakery ingredients, enzymes, lipids, yeast extracts and cereal specialities. Retail segment buys and merchandise value clothing and accessories through the Primark and Penneys retail chains.
The Company is engaged in manufacturing of grocery products, including hot beverages, sugar and sweeteners, vegetable oils, bread and baked goods, cereals, ethnic foods, herbs and spices, and meat products, which are sold to retail, wholesale and foodservice businesses. The Company operates in International, Europe, the Americas and Australia. The Company’s brands include Jordans cereals, Ryvita, Kingsmill, Patak’s and Blue Dragon. Capullo is canola oil in Mexico. Tone’s, Spice Islands and Durkee are the United States herbs and spices brands.
The Company is engaged in growing and processing of sugar beet and sugar cane for sale to industrial users and to Silver Spoon, which is included in the grocery segment. The Company operates five cane sugar mills in Guangxi Province and seven beet sugar factories in the north east of the country. Azucarera in Spain produces over 400,000 tonnes of beet sugar each year and has a cane refining capacity of 400,000 tonnes. Illovo is an Africa’s sugar producer with agricultural and production facilities in six countries.
The Company is engaged in manufacturing of animal feeds and the provision of other products and services for the agriculture sector. The Company operates agricultural industry with activities.
The Company supplies products and services to farmers, feed and food manufacturers, processors and retailers. It also buys grain from farmers and supplies crop inputs through its joint venture arable operation, Frontier Agriculture.
The Company is engaged in manufacturing of bakers’ yeast, bakery ingredients, enzymes, lipids, yeast extracts and cereal specialities. The Company’s AB Mauri operates in yeast and bakery ingredient production with 52 plants in 26 countries, supplying plant and artisanal bakers and the foodservice and wholesale channels. It is a technology in bread improvers, dough conditioners and bakery mixes. The Company’s Ingredients focuses on ingredients for food and non-food applications. It manufactures and markets enzymes, lipids, yeast extracts, and cereal across the world with manufacturing facilities in Europe and the United States.
The Company is engaged in buying and merchandising value clothing and accessories through the Primark and Penneys retail chains. The Company operates stores in the United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria and France. Primark’s range includes womenswear, lingerie, childrenswear, menswear, footwear, accessories, hosiery and homeware.
