The Company provides information technology (IT) management solutions for large, mid-sized and small enterprises and public sector organizations around the world. BMC also provides its customers with maintenance and support services for its products and assist customers with software implementation, integration, IT process and organizational transformation, and education services. The Company operates in two segments: Enterprise Service Management (ESM) and Mainframe Service Management (MSM). In February 2012, it acquired Numara Software Holdings, Inc. In December 2011, it acquired I/O Concepts Software Corporation. In September 2011, it acquired StreamStep, Inc. In June 2011, it acquired Neon Enterprise Software, LLC’s portfolio of IMS solution s006Fftware. In June 2011, it acquired Aeroprise, Inc. In April 2011, it acquired Coradiant Inc. On April 2012, it acquired Abydos. In August 2012, the Company acquired VaraLogix, an application release automation provider.
The Company’s ESM segment consists of solution suites and related services, which include BMC ProactiveNet performance management, BMC BladeLogic automation, BMC Remedy IT Service Management, BMC Remedy OnDemand and BMC RemedyForce, BMC FootPrints and BMC Track-It!, BMC Atrium, and professional services organization. Its solution suite in BMC ProactiveNet performance management area manages IT functions and processes, such as availability and performance management, event management, service impact management and capacity optimization. The Company’s solution suite in BMC BladeLogic automation area manages IT functions and processes, such as provisioning, configuration change and compliance automation for servers, networks, applications and databases. The Company’s on-premise and SaaS offerings in BMC Remedy IT Service Management, BMC Remedy OnDemand and BMC RemedyForce area manage IT functions and processes, such as the service desk, incident management, service request management, problem management, asset management, service level management, change and release management and identity management.
BMC’s MSM segment addresses IT requirements for mainframe data and performance management, middleware management and enterprise workload automation. The Company’s mainframe data and performance management solutions ensure the availability and reliability of the business data, applications and systems that support business processes. Its Control-M product line provides a set of features, which enable data centers to automate their workloads and business processes. Its Control-M Output Management solution automates the task of managing the life cycle of mainframe output reports with facilities, which include report decollation, distribution, bundling, viewing, archival and deletion.
