Bob Evans Farms, Inc. (Bob Evans), incorporated November 4, 1985, is a full-service restaurant company that operates Bob Evans Restaurants. The Company is a producer and distributor of pork sausage product and a variety of complementary home-style refrigerated side dishes and frozen food items primarily under the Bob Evans, Owens and Country Creek brand names. The Company operates in Bob Evans Restaurants and BEF Foods.

As of April 26, 2013, the Company owned and operated all 560 Bob Evans Restaurants. It offers its customers a dining experience by serving a variety of reasonably priced breakfast, lunch and dinner items in family-friendly settings. These food products are delivered to warehouses that distribute to grocery stores throughout the United States. It also manufactures and sells similar products to foodservice accounts, including Bob Evans Restaurants and other restaurants and food sellers.

Bob Evans Restaurants Segment

Bob Evans Restaurants feature farm fresh goodness that brings families together, including a wide variety of comfort foods inspired by our homestead heritage, such as Bob Evans sausage gravy and chicken pot pie. Breakfast entrees are served all day and feature traditional favorites such as sausage, bacon, eggs and hotcakes, as well as specialty offerings like crepes and omelets. It also offers a wide variety of lunch and dinner entrees, including a full line-up of Farm Fresh Salads and signature dinner items, such as country fried steak and slow-roasted turkey. It also offers a Fit from the Farm menu to provide guests who are following a 2,000 calorie daily diet with the option of eating three balanced meals a day at Bob Evans Restaurants. Bob Evans Restaurants feature an inviting atmosphere inspired by its Ohio farm heritage. Bob Evans Restaurants range in size from approximately 3,600 to 6,500 square feet while its larger Bob Evans Restaurants & General Stores are approximately 9,800 square feet. The Company offers retail gifts, food items and other novelties for sale on a limited basis in the retail areas located inside traditional Bob Evans Restaurants and on a much larger scale in its six Bob Evans Restaurants & General Stores. During the fiscal year ended April 26,2013 (fiscal 2013), the Company owned the real estate for 482 of its Bob Evans Restaurants and leased the real estate for the remaining 78 locations.

BEF Foods Segment- Retail Food Product Operations

The Company’s BEF Foods segment produces food products in its seven manufacturing facilities. It produces fresh sausage products at its plants located in Richardson, Texas, Hillsdale, Michigan, and Xenia, Ohio. The Company offers a wide variety home-style food products to retail and foodservice customers. The Company sells its retail food products under the Bob Evans, Owens and Country Creek brand names. Its food products include approximately 169 varieties of branded fresh, smoked and fully cooked pork sausage, ham and hickory-smoked bacon products. It also offers over 144 complementary, convenience food items in the refrigerated and frozen areas of grocery stores such as mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, and microwaveable sandwiches. During fiscal 2013, the Company introduced approximately 19 new retail food products, including many varieties of Bob Evans side dishes, precooked sausage and fresh and frozen sandwiches. Its refrigerated mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese side dishes continue to grow as a percentage of its food products volume.

The Company produces food products in its seven manufacturing facilities. It produces fresh sausage products at its plants located in Richardson, Texas, Hillsdale, Michigan and Xenia, Ohio. Its Sulphur Springs, Texas, and Bidwell, Lima, and Springfield, Ohio, plants produce ready-to-eat products, such as sandwiches, soups and gravies. On April 28, 2012, the BEF Foods segment purchased from SWH Corporation and owns and operates an approximately 25,000 square-foot prep kitchen in Fullerton, California, that prepares signature muffin mixes, dressings, sausage gravy, sauces and soups for Bob Evans Restaurants and some third-party restaurants, including the Mimi’s Caf restaurant chain which was formerly owned by the Company.

The Company competes with Johnsonville Sausage LLC and the Hillshire Brands Company.
