The Chile Fund, Inc. (the Fund), incorporated on January 30, 1989, is a closed-end, non-diversified management investment company. The Fund’s investment objective is to seek total return, consisting of capital appreciation and current income through investments primarily in Chilean equity and debt securities. The Fund’s investment advisor is Credit Suisse Asset Management, LLC. CELFIN CAPITAL Servicios Financieros S.A. serves as the Fund's Chilean sub-advisor. Bear Stearns Funds Management Inc. serves as the Fund's United States administrator. Celfin Capital S.A. Administradora de Fondos de Capital Extranjero serves as the Fund's Chilean administrator.

The Fund may write covered put and call options on stock and debt securities, and may purchase such options that are traded on foreign and the United States exchanges, as well as over-the-counter (OTC) options. The Fund may purchase or write exchange-listed and OTC put and call options on securities indexes. The Fund invests in various sectors, including industrial conglomerates, independent power producers and energy traders, beverages, chemicals, commercial banks, diversified telecommunications, electric utilities, food and staples retailing, metals and mining, multi-line retail and water utilities.
